    Most who use the 522 will have realised that 1080p @ 60fps is the way to go for the best image quality, as those extra frames make all the difference to the footage. For me the upgrade to 622 here isn't actually to use the 4K @ 30 but instead to move to 2K @ 60fps for the additional clarity, without sacrificing the frame rate. Ideally we all want 4k @ 60fps but maybe in the next one! - Thanks for the review.

    I'd like to see 622's 1080 @ 60fps next to the 522. There is a stark difference between the 622's 4K and the lower res on the 522.
    Very disappointed in the 622 so far, but I don't plan to use 4K anyway, at least for now. Really thought 4K would be much better. It's just the reverse, and the resolution difference isn't that great. It helps on barely legible text but not a lot.

    I do a fair amount of video recording as as good as 4K is, it does take up a stack of memory. I ALWAYS choose 1080p at 60fps...always excellent smooth video, so yes, lets see 622 1080p @60fps!

    Great video review, well explained. Best review I have seen of a dashcam including your side by side comparison with 522-GW. Have you tried using the phone app with it? Do you leave your camera in your car or take it with you? It's a shame it isn't a bit more stealthy/discreet, I'm going to get one and don't want to leave it on display, so removing it everyday seems like a hassle.

    • @SouthWalesDashCams
      @SouthWalesDashCams  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for your comment! I do use the app occasionally, but not very often, it takes a long time to download footage and its stored in the app, so if you was to want to upload it to youtube for example you need to connect it to a PC, to get around this I use an app on my phone that captured the screen as I stream the footage form the camera as appose to download it. I do leave the camera in the car and have done with the camera I have had over the last 10 years, to date ive been lucky and nothing has happened. One thing i prefer about the 522 is that it is a little more discreet than the 622.

    I do see a fisheye effect but at least it is not horrible like some action cameras have it. I wonder though if the 622 has a dewarp feature. I know some action cameras have it since the fisheye is only a side effect of having a wide angle lens. I know that if they could easily design a camera not to have that effect they would. It is just lens distortion really.

    I don't understand why you are recording in 1080p on the 522gw when it is capable of 1440p a much higher resolution. It is not a fair comparison against a 4k model...

  • @Snooooozel
    @Snooooozel Před 3 lety +3

    No, currently 4k isn't worth it. Same for security cameras. 4k requires a lot more light (and digital noise reduction because of that) to deliver good pictures, and that destroys the benefit of the higher resolution.
