I just booked an appointment with the French consulate in Atlanta (USA). You will need the application number, that starts with FRA, to book the application. So, first complete the application, obtain the application number and then proceed with the visa appointment.

A Visa Registration Number is a mandatory field to book a visa appointment on VFS global and you can only get the registration number by completing your Schengen visa application form.
