I think I’m just an eve fangirl now because this is the 3rd song I’ve covered of his in the last few months. They’re just so good dammit! Especially Waboku’s pv for this song, it’s so creative and intricate. So I really wanted my lyrics to be more creative to match, but I wrote and recorded this when I was still sick and its kind of a blur lol. I honestly feel like I didn't do this one well and considered not uploading it, but I feel like it'd also be a waste to trash it so I went ahead and finished it off. At least more people will discover this song this way maybe. I also got new mics for the first time since I started this channel so I’ll be using them starting with the next cover. Hopefully it goes well!

Juby's songs are the best... And this song is amazing.
The kid constructs the gloveman personality to interact with his crush. Glovedude is strong, fit, good looking, etc; we can see kiddo crafting him through the montages. He hates doing all this, but must for the girl. However, he eventually realizes that everyone else is like that (when the train hits, it's filled with other glovemen) and that the girl wants /him/, not glovey. He rips off the mask, and the girl realizes what kiddude's been doing (he's lying on the ground with blood about) and helps him up.
Nice, I really like this interpretation. Didn't understand what the train was all about but I see it now.

it's actually based on an old comic called Jibun Kaigi, but i prefer everyone else's interpretations because they are much more interesting and deep.
It's apparently actually the glove dude and the girl are both idols but the girl is as she is there and the kid is insecure about who he really is and the girl so far has only met his idol personality and he's scared she won't like his real self
Maybe he's a famous dude and the glove is his other personality.

my interpretation of the thing, for anyone who cares:
I think the basic gist of the song is that the singer's going through some kind of identity crisis, and the main guy and the glove-headed person are supposed to be the same person. He's unsure about which version of himself is liked by the girl in the video, and "As You Like It" makes sense because it's talking about him changing his personality so that she likes him better.
There's his "normal/inner" less confident self (he thinks he looks like a potato? 1:04/2:30), and there's also a side of him represented by the taller, well-dressed man with the glove over his face. You can see a lot of singing and concerts in the video too so he could be an artist and she could be a fan of his music, and the evil glove man represents his more outgoing and charming performer persona that he's built up, which would understandably be more popular than his ordinary self. Him sitting in the audience simply watching in the beginning could mean that he feels like he's detached from that self up on stage.
He's working out (0:50) and shaving (1:03) and trimming his nails (2:23) and lifting weights (1:34) in order to impress and live up to the expectation of the girl, still worried that the one she idolizes and wants to be with is the glove person. His "true self" and the glove man side to himself are constantly competing, and he is constantly under threat of being consumed completely by his cooler alter-ego (whenever you see glove mask man trying to slip something over his head, trying to make him the same).
And I think in the end when he takes off his glove mask and the bubble with the "I" explodes, revealing his real face, and the girl smiles probably means that she'd always liked him for who he really was after all.

additional notes:
- The two halves of the brain clicking together at 0:12 and him being split apart at 0:22 probably represent the duality of his personality. Also 1:24, and all the game show like stuff are him in conflict with the other sides of himself and all the things he's telling himself in his head. He's trying to come to an agreement with all of them, shown by the handshake at 2:09.
- He's in what appears to be a junkyard at 0:08, and falling from a high height at 0:10, maybe representing a subconscious desire to discard or kill off the person he used to be.
- There's a lot of unwrapping/unmasking imagery, as if suggesting that he's hiding behind a mask (the sunglasses at 0:27, the hood at 0:48, the chocolate bars at 0:51, the mouths at 1:01, maybe the frill-necked lizards at 2:32).
- He's locking himself up in his room, and closing his true self off from the rest of the world at 1:09. Later an alarm goes off (2:53) and he pulls open the curtain (2:56) and turns on the light (3:24), which is like him realizing he should come out and be himself. When he does, he opens his eyes to the girl holding her hand out to him.
- During the rainy crosswalk scene at 1:53, the girl waves in the direction of the boy and glove man and they also point at each other, not sure of which one she’s waving to. When glove man disappears, she goes away as well, as if disappointed. But I think this is only a manifestation of the fears in our main character’s mind.
- Some stuff about flying I don't really get, but it could be representing him achieving his goals or whatnot. There are two separate rocket launches in the video, one at 0:30 with the glove guy, and then another one at 1:13 with our main character. Interestingly enough the first one ends up crashing at 0:41 while the second one appears to get off the ground and successfully into space (2:06, 2:15). Maybe he was missing the mark (1:06) by trying to present himself as somebody he wasn't. Not sure what to make of the astronaut at 1:31 and 2:37. Open to speculation.

Monet Shishido don't forget at 2:50 he reached out but he can't reach in time and the glove guy (or the confident cool persona) is with the girl that could mean that he wants to get closer to the girl but he dosn't want to break his cool persona or she might not like him.
Oh. You put a lot more thought into than me, but I thought the story was that the guy loved the girl but wasn’t brave enough to tell her, so she got into a relationship with someone else (person with the glove on their head), and he tried to convince himself that he hated her so he wouldn’t be heartbroken (even though he really did love her). Then the girl and her new boyfriend got hit by a train and died, and the guy got to see it happen right in front of him. He does everything he can to forget about it, but he can’t, and in the end he commits suicide. The last scene is after it happened, when he gets to see the spirit of the girl he loves, and the spirit of her boyfriend watching in the background.

My guess is that the boy likes likes this girl right, but then she ends up with someone else, so the main character is just trying to get her out of his mind, causing his emotions to go wack. I'm guessing that since he has some serious inner mind problems, his reality or outside world has gone wack.... That is at least my interpretation. Either that, or he had a serious acid trip cause he got into an accident. Take er give.
The boy is growing up and adopts the gloveman as a persona for growing up although it conflicts with him because he isn't truly gloveman and he worries about that she loves his persona but him but in the end she likes him for him.
Think of it like Fooly Cooly and it makes sense believe it or not.

It’s so weird I’ve been feeling emotionally attached to this song for a while now loving the tune feeling like “yes this is one of my favorites,” yet not knowing what it’s saying, but now that it’s more or less translated. AAAAA I just feel like it fits right in with how things are right now when I was trying to sing it and putting it on repeat to try to sing it without mumbling parts. Yes I am seeing Sora and Vanitas as well. Especially the last scene either Sora with black hair or Vanitas with blue eyes. Either way, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that or noticed. ^^;

i agree. juby is awesome, but i prefer Eve's voice in this song. it just fits better
@@lisaedwards1359 I agree with that. Most English covers struggle to capture the feelings. I hear this with juby. She has very nice pitches but um, sounds a bit meaningless to me. Less fun? at the very least i can see how it was translated here. I still like juby in some of her stuff though.
Desmond Hunter yeah I checked her other videos and she sounds fine without this weird autotune voice. Wonder why she still adds it
I think oktavia could work if she pulled it off. She has a really powerful voice and does good with rock songs.

I know you feel as though this was rushed or not done as well, but honestly I have to say this is probably my favorite cover of yours! The translated lyrics capture the intention of the original work perfectly. Not only that, but your voice sounds wonderful here! Amazing work, as usual!
