    My dad use to take me out there in his Jeep back in 1963 to 1966, there was nothing but a rickety dirt road that had a few scary spots. We explored all over red rock. Sometimes we never saw another car out there. I have so many great memories of hiking and exploring at Red Rock before it was a tourist attraction.

      Yeah I can imagine it would have been a cool place before it got touristified.
      Still pretty cool even with tourists though.

    Good job on this video.
    A few quick notes:
    1) Since this video came out, Red Rock has implemented a timed reservation system which is in effect from October 1 through May 31. You will get a 30 minute window to enter the park. You can't enter before or after that window. There is a fee for the reservation.
    2) It's not a one track road. It's two lanes, one way. One of the greatest frustrations of locals/regulars is people driving straight down the middle, hogging both lanes, and blocking everyone from going past.
    3) As you can see from the great drone footage in this video, Red Rock is drone friendly. Drones are allowed everywhere in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area with the exception of the La Madre Wilderness and the Rainbow Wilderness areas.

    Use to go there almost every day and have even spent overnights out on the overlook. Saw a bizarre light show out there in the 90s too. Lights as in...weird lights that would multiply into more etc. All in the 90s in my 1st car- a black convertible.

      Yeah, getting there early is the best way. Its cooler, lighting is best for pics and less crowded. Living just 90 minutes from Yosemite NP, I try to hit the gate by sunrise. By noon, I'm done and see people just getting started. Always buy my America the Beautiful pass, gets me (or party of 4 at walk-ins) into all NPs for a year.

    so the stops on the scenic route, are they obvious stops, like with places to park, or do you just pull over anywhere and park along the road?

    • @UltimateBucketList
      @UltimateBucketList  Před 3 lety +2

      There are actual car parks at each stop. You could pull off to the side of the road and stop randomly, but I highly don't recommend it, as the nearest stopping points to the ones of interest are these car parks!

    • @ednafronkelbarger8601
      @ednafronkelbarger8601 Před rokem +1

      @@UltimateBucketList This has changed completely since 2018. You are only allowed to park in designated parking areas. Any other area off to the side of the road is prohibited. You can't even pause where you are momentarily to take a photo. They take this seriously. They have put large boulders in place to block access to what used to be popular spots to pull over for scenic views along the way.
