    You make this look so easy. Thanks for pointing out the minor mistake when you were burning the lines to outline the brick. This proves that it’s not perfect and even you make mistakes. But you just kept doing your magic and the final product blends perfectly into the rest of the raceway scenery. That’s killer kine skills brotha. 😎🤙

    I made a block textured wall similarly years ago for an aquarium. To get a natural look I diluted some 5000psi concrete mix and brushed it lightly to just fill all the little cracks. When it dried I put a slightly thicker coat on for the texture. The best thing was I didn't have to paint. I like the sheet rock mud idea. Seems like it's safer for collisions.

    This is good for me, just getting into slot car tracks.
    U've got some AWESOME ideas like that Guardrail
    system as well as the Spray foam. What I'd like to
    see is a crash wall / barrier to protect the grandstand,
    pit row / lane. Then, the application of your crash fence
    can be attached to that. Or, how well does this polystyrene
    bend and how thin can it get? Thanks Boone for this video series!

      @@BoonesSlotCarGarage Thanks, it's been fun so far! But, I have a twist to it, I also wanna put the Evergreen Plastic Styrene over that and I know from past usage of the stuff I can easily bend a thin sheet of that. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Although the video is 3yrs old, it is still an awesome reference on how to manipulate foam board. I'm just getting into the hobby so I'm soaking this up. Thanks! As a follow-up question, how could you do this technique for the backside of a banked turn.. I'm struggling to envision how to get the foam board to curve.

    • @BoonesSlotCarGarage
      @BoonesSlotCarGarage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thank you, 😊 if you want to create a brick wall for a corner you would need to cut reliefs to allow it to bend. Or you could make the wall in sections and then create the Brick work

      @@BoonesSlotCarGarage I am stocking up on foams and supplies...I am about to do a complete do over! I have an awesome 70ft layout with lights, but I have finally grown tired of seeing wires, and guardrail gaps. My current bridges and supports I made with cardboard, which are wonderfully functional, but who wants to look at cardboard? (plastic in this link) imgur.com/gallery/6w58Mft . Although I love my 3d printed borders, I am replacing all of them with the exception of the hairpin section. That middle bridge and ramp with the 45 is going to get the wall treatment. The big 180 with the hairpin inside - spray foam rocks in and out. I am increasing elevation by about an inch, and I will also bend the last straight coming down to eliminate the natural joint angle problem. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration, but I think I will be in racing withdrawal by the time I am done.

    Hey Boone. I just recently got my 1st scalextric Track. Ive been watching your vids and they are awesome. I've used this styro for 3D in tank aquarium backgrounds in the past,coating them with Drylok water sealant instead of drywall mud. But I'd love to try out your total method here for my Scale driving experience Track scene. I would really love to find out exactly what type of paint it is your using on this method. I've recalled you mention the colors. but not the type and brand of paint. Thanks a million for making it easy for us hobbyists new to slot racing to get some great info on scene building. You rock!!

      Thank you John, one of the nice things about the drywall joint compound is that it is inexpensive and it works great... plus it is very easy to use. The paint that I’m using is acrylic. It’s water based and you can find it at any craft store or store that carries crafting supplies... as far as the brand, I stay away from the very cheep stuff , not that it makes much of a difference on the painting of the foam, but it does when I use it for other finer details on figures, etc... so instead of having multiple different brands of the same colors I try to keep it simple.. thank you again for your comment and questions... glad you are enjoying the videos and feel free to shoot me a question anytime you like , I’ll do my best to help or help you find the answers. I do have a Facebook group for this channel. If you click on the link on the banner for this channel it will take you there. It is set up for anything slot car related. • @BoonesSlotCarGarage
      @BoonesSlotCarGarage  Před 2 lety

      Thanks buddy… either one works great. MDF is the better way to go . It tends to have a bit more sound absorbing qualities 😂. And it is a nice smooth surface to lay track. Only downside of MDF is that it is heavy and it doesn’t have the structural strength of plywood, so you are going to need to build a nice support structure for your table .

    • @BoonesSlotCarGarage
      @BoonesSlotCarGarage  Před 8 měsíci +1

      😂 yes ladder gymnastics is not a good sport for me 😂… I can’t seem to get down the dismount 😂…. Thanks Harry… the paint I use is acrylic , and it doesn’t have to be the expensive stuff. I have found the cheapest acrylic paint works better than the expensive ones for most scenery applications. I believe it has to do with the grinding process of the pigment of the paint. Higher quality paints are generally smoother than cheaper ones. But believe it or not the inconsistency of the grind of the cheaper brands seem to enhance certain aspects that make painting the scenery easier. , sorry for the long reply 😂. Doctors have me on pretty good meds while I heal up 😂. But thank you again and hope this helped.
