When I began working, from age 22, i have suffered this phase of loneliness. It was scary. I was scared of losing people. And due to it I entertained many wrong people, who took advantage of me n I suffered. Well this all experienced just made me strong, I let go of all wrong people, didn't look back ever n moved on. In my 30s now, and I LOVE n ENJOY being alone. Yes, I am alone but not lonely. Infact I don't like wasting time with anyone now. I enjoy my time with family, my work, pets/strays, and myself. Being alone is fantastic. I don't yearn for any partner or friend anymore. It's peace now. Also, don't chase for companionship friendship or anything in life, just wait patiently, it will come to you on its own. We waste lot of time whinning n victimizing self, n thus end up cheated by others.

The word love is such a loaded word, filled with false Notions expectations and attachments. Everybody uses that word, everybody says that word. Why? @@grosbeak6130 That's right, sadly it is a overused and broken down word. Actually language as a whole is. But there is a genuine feeling behind all words. This is where we need to go, to the directness of it. In the context of loneliness its about observing oneself peacefully, without judgement or aggression. Still working at it myself. Good luck.

I must be the oddest, although I really don't think so.
    I've never felt lonely.
I know what being alone is.
When my husband died I knew I would be faced with the most profound alone-ness as I had lost all my friends (looking after elderly parents) and had no children.
After he died, I felt all that those who suffer bereavement do, and I missed him a great deal and so, so wished he hadn't died. It took over 6 years to let that feeling, those painful feelings, finally go.
But I was never lonely and I'm not lonely now even though I've made no friends (being somewhat physically handicapped makes it rather difficult, so I decide not to worry about it).

When the speaker speaks, his 'Why' to me is an invitation. That's how I interpret it. When I bring this inquiry of 'Why', facing my attachment (Not creating the opposite, as he suggests), I can see how this 'Why' can be a powerful response towards my experience. To me it's like the attitude of 'instead of being a slave to this experience, to believe this experience I am having and make it a foundation for my following actions, i turn towards this motivation of my life and I ask 'Why.' Not so much a question, that longs for an answer, but a statemented question that is patient enough to not be dependent on an answer. A stance with the very motivation itself to say, reveal yourself, reveal your substance, reveal your truth, I won't believe you, I will sit here, stand here, lay here, walk here, eat here, bathe here, breathe here, I will feel you, listen to you and bring my attention towards the whole movement with this stance of 'Why.?' The full stop conditions my why to have the strength to not long for an answer. I interpret the speaker to be saying 'Don't ask 'why' intellectually..' because I see how in my nature.. Say, if I am lonely, and I ask my loneliness 'why'.. isn't the motivation of my 'why' fueled by the very loneliness in which I am inquiring into?
So, to me, this why can be very powerful, if it is a feeling why, an experiential why, a why that doesn't depend on an answer, a why that is fed up with believing blindly the movements within myself, the dead fish stories I turn my feelings into.. Then this 'why' can be a healthy attitude, a place of equilibrium, equanimity, connection. A place that trains the mind to stop being pushed by the perpetual motion of thought and frees the feelings and sensations enslavement that lives within the very thoughts that are crafted and created, running through me.
What do you think? Is this a valuable way of using the 'why'?

How does one know what it feels like to be one with the universe if we haven’t first felt true loneliness? Its like there would be no stars in the sky if there wasnt black space to make them really shine. One can’t really exist without the other so dont be afraid of it, embrace loneliness knowing its only temporary and you are not far from being one again.

All the great artists and inventors and humanitarians have had to forge this deeper union with themselves, a union with a deeper intelligence within themselves, beyond the realm and the reach of the intellect. Many people who are by circumstance alone at this time do not take advantage of this great opportunity. Perhaps they seek partnership and meaningful relationship, but such partnership and relationship is not on the horizon. So what should they do with this time alone? How can they utilize this great opportunity?

We all have an inborn desire to express our potential. It's as undeniable as the acorns need to grow into an oak. When that desire is blocked or thwarted because no one is around who can help us realize our potential, that's what causes the pain of loneliness. We are only as much of ourselves as other people believe us to be.
We *need* to experience ourselves as kind, or passionate, or hilarious, or sensual. But unless there is someone else present to see and appreciate that part of us, it might as well not exist. Consequently, you feel hunger--a hunger for existence. To be lonely is to be a hungry ghost.

He is talking about two different things here : First is the concept of being lonely and second is the feeling that causes us to feel lonely .. Regardless , loneliness as a concept is real , can’t be denied or should be accepted .. Humans are social creatures and do NOT do well when they isolate themselves from society . They desire and more importantly need human connection which is one of the components of a good mental health .. So , when you feel lonely , see it as a call to action rather than bringing judgment into the emotion of feeling lonely and start building new meaningful relationships .

He is also saying that if I do this, I will disappear. With that, any feeling will disappear because separateness disappears, which is the cause of all feelings. What remains when the I is gone, is pure im-mediate being without distance.

Loneliness is most profound state of self as even body is taking birth alone and taking death alone. Until there is realization of single cosmic body which has tremendous capacity in space and time comparing to body of meat. You may vary your taste from fear of 'meat' loneliness to fear of cosmic loneliness as well or just put the idea of self aside and just be eternal non perishable 'unity' which has no attributed singularity neither multiplicity.

The Spiritual Guru has the power to enlighten the soul whosoever comes to His contact by his discourses or other ways. Guru awakens the person who make efforts to know one self n adopts the path Guru has shown sincerely. Without Guru no one can proceed easily on this path.Under Guru's guidance one enjoys the life as it comes. The concept of duality is vanished.

*People with different state of mind and live with different spiritual platforms ..
    * Loneliness with lower spiritual platform may also make a person as serial killer, mentally ill.
    * Lonelineas is for those who are in higher spiritual platform , and not for everyone
*Some people takes from scriptures, some takes from guru and scriptures. Some gain from meditation . Some from only Guru , all according to their own state of mind ...
*Self realization is the key .

Probably because humans are social animals, no matter how much your try you can't live all alone, you need at least one person in your life. For some it's there wife/husband or childrens. Even spiritual Leaders are not alone as they have God with them or so they say.

So, is he saying that self-centredness creates isolation because we create a barrier around ourselves? Are there not plenty of people who are isolated, for whatever cause, who are not self-centred? Or is he saying that when we realise that we are not separate from the rest of humanity, or indeed being, that the sense of loneliness must disappear regardless of our seeming isolation? Do we create the physical fact of isolation, or just the sense of isolation regardless of the fact?

      No , I don't agree
Be a light even if this burns you more ..
      Don't surrender to such thoughts.
The helplessness and the tragedy of life.
I believe balance must be achieved between the nonsense of life and the importance of being (fruitful / light) in this world.
What you are feeling is dismissive depression from life itself
      That's not a lesson to learn !
To just retract and have (no impact ) since everything is going to end and we will not exist anymore..
Use your existence to make lives better .
Starting with your own life .
Run, eat healthy , pat a cat, smile , plant a flower , move and keep moving !
      Don't stop moving
Let your fragrance be smelt and your light spread.
      Don't surrender .
      Why surrender !
It's a tragedy after all and we are going to die.
Untill this moment don't surrender .
      Be a blessing

Can somebody help me understand please. I understand that self-centredness is what is causing loneliness. I understand that everything else is farce. A mere escape. But if everything is escape, what is the point of living? How can I just "be". For example, I like playing music and learning a musical instrument, but isn't my pursuit to be good at it also an escape. Isn't internet an escape. Everything, literally every feeling love/sadness/happiness/anger is an escape. How is it possible to avoid all this completely and just BE?

Are you GG bro? What if GG bro means something in a certain language? Or for a certain mindset? What if the being behind this name is changing all the time? "You", I m calling you you, and you might call yourself "I", or "me", or "GG bro", but whatever behind that mask of words is, is not a word at all. Words are helpful when talking to each other. But we should not confuse them with what's really going on.

For me, the pain of loneliness is almost physical. It's so intense it's unbearable. Where once I had a large circle of "friends" my ex wife put paid to that by spreading vicious lies. Even my own daughter doesn't speak to me. I don't want to embrace my loneliness, I want company and a life. I don't want to keep thinking "what's the point". I'm sorry, but I didn't find this video very helpful

Embracing loneliness in the wrong way only get you more loneliness. How many people have what you don't have and are still lonely. All levels of life have this attribute. The rich and the poor the powerful and the powerless. All because they do not understand loneliness. There's no question that the heart can be lonely what you don't understand is How Deeply that loneliness can go it is infinite. If you understood the heart you would understand that loneliness can take you into a bottomless pit or take you into Paradise. Who is your god. If you cannot answer this you will be in the bottomless pit of Darkness. I'm not going to get into a long discourse on the heart but I will simply say simply the heart Is Made In God's image and in his likeness it is made no matter what you try and substitute for God the heart will never ever be satisfied because the heart by Nature by Design is divine. Hunger a movement of the heart is meant for God and God Alone and by the way that's Jesus Christ God the Father and God the Holy Ghost. Thirst it's a movement of the heart and it's office it is designed for the heart and it's office is the carry you to God. Longing another movement of the heart who's office is the take you before God. Tears are a movement of the heart who's Ministry and office go before God and speak to God of Your Love. tears are an intercessor 1 teardrop contains 100 volumes of what the intellect can scarcely defined. You sir have given your heart to what is less than God you have given your heart to what is finite superficial and plastic along with your habits and your attachments you are doomed if you do not reject all of the Earth out of love for God
