Very nice retrofit job. I did the same last year using a Makita 18v battery. Works fine, but since the Makita (and Milwaukee) batteries are only 5 cell 18650s, and the original Dyson pack has 6 cells, you do lose suction power in Turbo mode. But, it’s much nicer to be able to swap out batteries after 15 minutes, and keep going, rather than having to wait for the Dyson battery to recharge. I’m not sure why Dyson hasn’t made one with a replaceable battery.

Those drill packs are 18v and the vacuum runs at 24v.
    No issues?

Yeah it’s not going to have full power ; turbo mode won’t work; although it’ll last ages between charges …

I would not use Dyson for a shop vac...thing has a very small opening in the unit so it will always get jammed

Can confirm, it does always get jammed. It's what I have though so for now it'll do.

DeWalt 20V is closer to Dyson's 21. Have to try this out

A fully charged "18V" lithium-ion battery gets to 21 volts. full charge is 4,2V per cell, and you need a minimum of 5 cells anyway for an 18V battery. 18V and 20V lithium-ion batteries are the same.

@@rolfbjorn9937 it’s still under voltage; the Dyson is 6 cell ; the Milwaukee is 5
