Add a Menu Toolbar to Google Chrome

- By default, Google Chrome does not have any type of menu bar that you can use to get to your commonly accessed settings or tasks. If you want to add a menu bar like we used to have in Internet Explorer, you can do so by installing a free extension into your browser. Then you will have the typical file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, window and help menu items with a dropdown list of options. You can also use it as a Google toolbar and have it contain shortcuts to your favorite Google apps and websites.
Here is a link to the Proper Menubar extension.

How funny, why would a browser developer remove something that was there for decades? and now we are forced to use some kind of extension? Why?
I TOTALLY agree with your statement / question here, 'sandeepr2404' !!!
THIS is the only flaw about using Chrome that I have encountered !!!
that's a good workaround but has a major flaw - this menu should be at the top of the screen, ABOVE the tabs, search field and bookmarks - not below. Is there a way to move it there? Top bars are always positioned in the order of the frequency of use, from top to bottom., with the top one being the least frequently accessed like general menu, down to the bottom one that is most frequently accessed such as bookmark folders. This layout is logical and intuitive, so the general menu must always be at the very top, otherwise it gets in the way.
Aren't there any better extensions that do the same thing? This one is just barely OK, but it doesn't allow shortcut keys, like alt-F-x to exit Chrome. The lack of this feature is a show-stopper for me.
I agree. I appreciate the video but I'm not sure it's made my chrome experience better.
Thanks a lot!
When using my macbook the menu bar when using Chrome browser is much better
Good job. Thanks man.
It does not work
Dislike adding a new addon. Show us how to use the regular browser without addons
When did Google disable the File - Edit - etc toolbar? And WHY? It's idiotic. Total downgrade of Chrome usability. What idiot suit decided to do this? Saves them money? Really? How? I'm ready never to touch Chrome again.
Beware : I obtained this menu bar and it simply did not work....and, unfortunately, I found THIS out after I had already made a contribution ($) to the creator....and then discovered that was money wasted as I could not get a refund on that from the financial institution I used to make that contricution. But, my question remains...."WHY doesn't the Google CHROME browser already have this feature installed (like F.F.) to use right away without having to go looking for it in order to have only as an 'extension' ??!!!
Just tested it on Chrome Version 126.0.6478.127 and it works fine.
This add-on not working properly
Can't hear you
Thanks! Are you aware of a way to add an address bar to the taskbar area?
Do you mean like a search bar on the Windows taskbar?
@@OnlineComputerTips Yes. Windows had it for years but dropped it.
@@mjbjr1944 In Windows 10 or 11?
@@OnlineComputerTips Sorry...Win11
Supposedly Microsoft is testing one out. Once my Insider Windows 11 computer gets the feature, I will make a video.
