    Huge RC Glider with a wingspan of 102 inches!!
    Length is 45inches and it weighs in at 2.3 lbs.
    It is intimidating at first because of its huge size but a few times in the air will build confidence.
    A large field is best with lots of room to land.
    It has a unibody plastic fuselage and an easy mounting system,
    30 amp esc and 4023 850kv brushless motor.
    This is a pnp version so a receiver, transmitter, battery and charger has to be provided yourself to fit your needs.
    It is a huge airplane and it needs to be disassembled which is a simple and quick process to fit in the car and super easy to reassemble once out in the field.
    It is a lot of fun flying it especially with an aio vtx to fly FPV.
    It was a challenge to fly it line of sight but the size of the craft makes it easier to orientate when further away than other smaller crafts.
    The red colored wing tips help out to orientate the craft.
    Lots of room in the battery bay to install larger batteries for longer flight times.
    Suggested is a 2200 mah 3s size battery and a rating of 30c was good enough and these batteries are very cheap since they are not as popular any more.
    China Hobby Line has them for $10.

    I have been flying gliders for years and I have just purchased the Volantex ASW28 to replace my old glider, I installed on top of the Fuselage a Ratel and a Mach3 vtx, I have been trying the matek F411-wse F. C for I can use it for long range and stable flight. My only problem with it was the plastic plugs to hold the canapy on would break every time I would try to remove them. Thanks again for the information

    • @RCEscape
      @RCEscape  Před 4 lety

      Yes, it would be nice to have a flight controller to fly without worries for stable flights! You are never gonna do any maneuvers with this thing anyways. Some osd telemetry would also be nice :) I use my wifes metal finger nail file the handle portion since it is round and flat to remove the canopy. Thanks for checking it out :)

      @johncarold Před 4 lety

      I'm planning on going long range with osd, GPS and return to home. At some point I would like to try to find out if I can get some Solar panels to put on the wings,

      Yes, you definitely need a huge open space to launch and more importantly to land :)
      It’s a huge aircraft. Intimidating at first but a few launches and confidence starts to build :)

    I already had a large powered glider (an E-Flite Night Radian FT) but a guy at our club had one of these and used to make me so envious as he would throw it around like a stunt plane! I was always convinced the wings were going to "handclap" they flexed so much during tight loops! 😲🤣 His ASW28 now looks a bit old and battered and He also has its sister plane, the Phoenix V2, which I don't think is as pretty but he says is a lot more friendly to fly (less likely to tip stall because it doesn't have those slim scale wings, and he's happier with the balance too--he was never convinced he had the CG right in the ASW28)...so anyway, I bought one (the Volantex Phoenix V2) and it's beautiful, still in its box and waiting for spring. 😁
    A good, honest review as always Pete, and what a good first landing too! Some lovely footage from the various cameras.
    Two other things before I use up ALL of the words; I'm not sure if you have set it or were just not 'off throttle' when you landed both times but you need to set the ESC brake for the prop to fold properly, or it just 'windmills' in the airflow and causes drag; and also if you need to raise the throttle stick to 50% to get any response then you need to calibrate the ESC.

    • @RCEscape
      @RCEscape  Před 4 lety

      That Phoenix V2 looks like a good one too!
      Great advice on the esc's! 👍👍

      Hi! For skilled pilot the asw28 should be no problem right? I like it more compared to Phoenix V2 due to T shape tail, orange/red wingtips and wider fuselage compartment for accessories.
      I have both in my BG shopping cart. Which one should I go with as I preffer thermal soaring rather than throttle flying.
      Thanks for advice.

  • @damianbiaobrzeg2789
    @damianbiaobrzeg2789 Před 3 lety

    Had both, Phoenix 2.4 and sw28 and i can tell that Phoenix is easier to go with.

    • @RobySVK
      @RobySVK Před 3 lety

      Why do you think so? I am about to purchase sw28 but was initialy about to go for phoenix 2,4. The outlook of sw28 is nicer and is 20 mm wider wingspan.

    An exellent review on an exellent glider. I've had tree of them, building the fourth. I can see in your video that you're struggling with the authorities of the control surfaces, the plane don't always go where you want it to go. You're not alone, nearly every ASW28 pilot here on CZcams either put in a stabilizer, mix ailerons and flaps to flaperons or extends the control surfaces - or a mix of these.
    ASW28 suits me very good as a FPV platform. If you like check out my videoes to look up my modifications. One thing I don't mention i that I use a 40 amp ESC, in fact in my new build I use 50 amp.
    I see you have a "booster" on your antenna. I have modified my Spektrumm DX8 G2 as Sunny Soundrise has done here:
    czcams.com/video/VpM9AVk_U2Y/video.html.
    That increase the range significantly. I wander what equipment you use on your "booster"?
    Happy flying!!
