In this CZcams video, we discuss India's ambitious plans for its railway infrastructure and the transformative impact it could have on the country's future. I explore the significance of projects like the Vande Bharat Express and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor, highlighting their potential to revolutionize intercity transportation and stimulate economic growth. Additionally, we address the challenges facing India's current railway system, including issues with cleanliness, punctuality, and overcrowding, and how ongoing reforms aim to address these concerns. By drawing parallels with successful railway developments in countries like Japan, Europe, and China, we evaluate the potential benefits of investing in a modern, efficient rail network for India.

The people asking "why bullet train?" didn't learn from previous generation who said "what use is of road when people can't afford motorcycle?"
Even poor people send their kids to better school which might put burden on their finances but they have to keep their kids future in mind.
Investment in any infrastructure project shouldn't just about solving present problem but also about ensuring next generation a better future.

Your comparison is wrong. Imagine if golden quadrilateral was made but only the super rich could drive on it, it won't take any freights and there already was a parallel road system (airplane in our example) was running alongside.
Bullet trains are nothing but a vanity project. Our current railway needs this money for up-gradation. Only 8 countries in the world run bullet trains and most of the developed world (read Nordic countries, Canada, Australia etc.) do not have them. Because it's a sheer waste of money, with ticket costs competing with airplanes. All this when your current tracks are in shambles and desperate for investment.
PS: For comparison, when Spain got its high speed train, they already had a vast network of 150+ kmph trains across the country. Went from that to 300Kmph. India still has overcrowded diesel trains where people travel on the top, but sure spend billions of loan money on one high speed line!

People who are comparing Indian Bullet train project with Indonesia...
    Must Understand...
In Indonesia Chinese workers and Chinese machines are doing the majority of work with Indonesian workers.
**But in India L and T(an Indian company) is doing the construction.**
**Electrical overhead wiring work will also be done by L and T**
Machines are also built and operated by Indian engineers. Only Chief engineer comes once a while from Japan to see progress and modifications.
**So technically India is learning how to make bullet train project**
**Just like we learned how to make world class Metro infrastructure**
And also JAPAN'S bullet trains are safest and best in the world.
"So asking for help again n again in future from Japan is not what India is thinking."
That's why it is taking time.
Additional info -- Indonesia's route length is 142 km with 4 stations.
**India's route length is 508 km (476 km elevated on pillars, including 21 km undersea tunnel) with 12 stations.**
"Also, Undersea tunnel will be made by AFCONS which is also an Indian Company.
    So, it will take time.

One reason why it is taking time is we are learning to develop high speed tracks from scratch. While chief engineer come from Japan for inspection our engineer are the one doing all the ground work . Edit : I saw a few mocking government as Indonesia got a bullet faster than us , those fools don't understand the consequences it will have on their economy. I think the 1.5 hours that gets wasted airport security making the minimum time by air at least 4.5 hours+ has a potential disrupt-able market for the rail sector since rail onboarding doesnt waste that much time in security and almost compensates the time advantage in the air route thru its exhaustive stations spread uniformly instead of select airports that mandate change of multiple forms of transport to reach the final destination .

Not just you but every Indian is counting on it. I'm just returning from a Journey from Uttarakhand to Delhi. And trust me when I say this that hygiene in the trains are definitely improving. There were times when you used to hold your urges to got to the washroom because they were inhumanely dirty, spit of Gutkha dirty seats, bunch of people without tickets, but now if not perfect it's still 100times better than before, Toilets are clean, you get running water, active T.C and Police Patrolling the coaches throughout the night. Swiper Mans coming in between big stations to clean the floors and seats, constant running water is there and not overcrowded people without tickets anymore, who tries to snuggle to your seats when you are sleeping. And yes, I'm talking about sleeper class. So we are definitely observing the changes from ground zero. So I have my high hopes for the future of my Country. Jai Hind.

If I can travel from Delhi to Mumbai in 6-8 hours in around 4000-4500 rupees. In India, there's a pressing need for additional tracks, perhaps expanding to 6 to 8 lanes. We require increased frequency and cost-effective solutions, with two of these tracks designated specifically for high-speed trains.

Instead of bullet train, govt shud have built infra for transport like RRTS or Vande Bharat. Idk on what basis they r saying that 92000 people would use BT each day.

The 2 cities are economic Hubs, with this comes Important business and economic activity between the 2 cities. Vandebharat and all are amazing undertakings but they are still very slow compared to BT. Giving Businessmen/Commuters/Normal people the ability to get to another city, complete their work and come back in the same day seems extremely beneficial. When BT comes to shorter routes like Bangalore to Chennai we can see commuting possibly working out. (it has in Japan, it is very normal to see people commute or Come into Tokyo, Osaka or Nagoya from other cities(Sendai, Nigata, etc) out of the corridor and in for a day and leave in time for dinner. With all of this surely we will get huge traffic Influx. Vande can serve for travellers and people staying for a day or more, making it much cheaper for them while people who can afford it or need it for business can use the BT.

But i give credit where its due.. bullet train does help, i know many say first improve the quality and service of local trains but we should not disregard anything before it is made. Im sure it will help in its own way. Though we need to improve our current trains too

Well the cleanliness part in the train lies on the passengers as well,
If a passenger is littering anywhere in the train instead of using the dustbin every 15 minutes, then that train can never be clean, the cleaner will come and clean the train for 2 or 3 times max he won't be coming to clean every time.

Based on the initial estimate of 1.08L Cr, JICA (Japan) agreed to provide 81% funding at an interest rate of 0.1%. While one can argue, why can't they fund to upgrade our existing railway network infra, the reason they ain't interested in these traditional projects where they can't bring their Japanese expertise and export potential. To understand their funding just go through the JICA India funding page, most of the infra's are in the urban space like metro, IUT, DFC etc which has good returns, and highly skilled human resources with an option of exports. They are already investing in large transportation projects such as MTHL or roads in the Northeast, apart from health, education, energy etc. (General trivia: Indonesia rejected JICA- Japan high-speed train proposal because they refuse to transfer technology while the Chinese agreed to share the technology and set the manufacturing capacity in the country)

An incompetent highly literate person once said - U want to implement digital transactions in this country , do u think a person will go to a thele wala and he will bring out card machine for digital payments .
This govt proved all the doubters wrong and leapfrogged every country in digital transactions today.
Same goes with these projects they may look expensive and unsustainable but knowing the potential of our economy this risk is worth taking for the long run.

More than Bullet Trains and Vande Bharat Trains, govt needs to improve the quality of general and sleeper classes which ferry more people and are always crowded and dirty. Not all can afford those premium trains.

I am not against development or growth of infrastructure but I don't this this is a good investment.
Our present trains are crowded and at peak capacity because of two major reasons:
    1. They are cheap
2.Connectivity at almost all the stations (this makes them slower)
But these bullet trains are neither going to be cheap or stop at every station
Already the vande Bharat are more expensive than current trains and these bullet trains are going to be even more expensive so why wouldn't anyone take the flights instead of these trains? Why spend billions of dollars on new railway?

Distance of 500-600km or lesser is better suitable for high speed rails even better than airplanes.@@justinesajijohn
