100% :) in my experience most babies are ethnically ambiguous! (And most people! Everyone asks where my fiancé is from because they can tell he's mixed with something but noone guesses immediately)

@@ItsTifahTifah …and that’s why I say racially ambiguous. My children were all light skinned with straight black or dark brown hair…One of my sons was white with straight black hair. The lady next to me in the hospital didn’t know what to think as my son’s father and myself were very dark skinned… Another of my sons looked East Indian. The baby she made could be “Black” American, Native American, South American, South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Etc. … therefore, Racially Ambiguous. She is whatever you want her to be or not be. There’s nothing wrong with that.

You know, when you dress her up in all of that light clothing, it really does highlight how dark her skin is compared to your other babies. It’s just like how she looked darker (or more “black”) when you held her next to a white baby head. Maybe your lighting and background have been the source of a lot of the complaints about her not being dark enough.

I don’t know why they are saying she’s not dark enough. Most black babies are born super light and gain their color over time. I’m an adult and about the same tone as this baby. When I was born I was probably what ppl would consider mixed looking but my hair was super curly and is now very coarse. There is so much variety in the way babies are born looking, especially black babies!

I think colour wise, the shade of brown here is fine for a “black” baby but her features do make her look more south Asian, so maybe more than the colour it’s the features that need to be worked on?

All of my reborns are black ethnicity...the wonderful lady that makes them is from England, she is amazing as well❤ she has made my babies to resemble my children when they were born...SPOT ON

Yes, I am a dark skin woman and my sons father is also black but my son was born with really fair skin and remained that way for months before he got his color lol❤

Potentially weird question but my roommate is gonna cut his hair soon and wants to donate it to someone who will have a unique use for it. Would you have any use for long, straight, ginger hair? 😅 Or do you work solely with animal hair?

Love the idea! I'd suggest he donate it to somewhere that makes wigs ❤️ we don't use human hair generally as it is much thicker than alpaca/mohair, and doesn't sit will on baby heads. It can work for toddlers but you need quite a lot of it!

I don't name the dolls :) the sculptors name the sculpts and as an artist I always advertise it as the named sculpt

Most people just collect for fun, some people use them for therapy, for autism, dementia, child loss, or because their kids have grown up and they miss babies!
I'm autistic and dolls are my special interest :) people often assume I've dealt with some kind of trauma to want these, but that's not the case, most people who collect these do it because they appreciate the artwork

The hair would’ve looked a lot better had it been black. But she is very beautiful 😍 definitely not a black baby, i agree when you said she looks Indian. But like i said; black hair would’ve looked a lot better.

The issue with black hair is that the dye can often come off when you're styling the hair and dye the head, so most reborn artists are very cautious when using black hair or don't use it at all.

Its because of the hair has nothing to do with the colour of the skin.. my son was still very light at this age..also has the same features..its cause she doesnt have curls or weaves and the hair isjt really dark...its the hair. If you wanted to make her more indian should have used black hair..its not easy but if you want to go for a specifiek etnic background ..its best to make it more recognisablem. This baby looks mixed could be everything and anything

The term 'reborn' came about from the start of this craft, when artists took store bought dolls and repainted them, and so they were 'reborned' - hence these are now called reborns.

I haven't been able to find curly mohair and even if I did, I've never rooted curly hair so I'm not sure how it would come out. It's very rare to find a curly hair reborn. When I looked up black babies on Google most of the newborn ones showed as having straight hair anyway so I didn't think it was an issue, but clearly is for some. I'll put your name down though if you're interested in purchasing a curly hair one :)

It bugs me a little when arts keep the baby for some time. Im not saying you do or are going to do this but iv seen babys for sale that the artis has had and handled for 6 months ir a year or more and lust it as new. Thers is noting wrong with keeping your art, but there comes a point, its pre ownd.
