Askjell has been involved in many of Aurora’s songs (The Seed, All is soft inside, Infections of a different kind, Forgotten love, Animal, Gentle Earthquakes, It happeend quiet, Dance on the moon, Daydreamer, In bottles..). He has also been involved in several of Sigrid’s songs (Aurora’s friend and another great Norwegian artist who actually was named «The sound of 2018» by BBC music). Maybe next on your reaction list (if you wanna go The Norwegian route, hehe). Songs to start with: Dont kill my Vibe, Strangers, Dynamite, Home to you (from the movie Aeronauts)

This song has been playing in my headq recently, it's beautiful. Aurora's voice, aesthetic and self is so healing, soothing and enlightening to so many things. She has a healers voice, this song hits so many emotions it's hard to conjure them all in one. But, it's nice to see someone listening to it for the first time. Very beautiful

I don't know if this has ever been said, but becuase of the scenery behind her and the way she's dressed and expresses herself I kind of feel like Aurora is representing some kind of love deity watching the couple develop their love! Also, i found your reactions yesterday and alresdy saw like half of them!! It's really lovely how invested you can get in the music and just like i've seen people say in your comments it's like traveling in time and watching all of this pieces of art for the first time again!

i find this song to be pretty dark. and i like that cause i usualy feel like auroras music is more bright/angelic even tho it can be very melancholic for sure. i feel like this songs expresses a vibe and emotions that i dont know from any other song of hers. propaly cause it isnt actually her song technicaly. anyway its definitly one of my favorites.

Yeah, the lyrics and the characters in the video make you think about someone who feels much more alienated from society ("Nobody knows me...I'm never lonely"), whose defenses has blocked him/her from experiencing different aspects of human relations, not just love.

I positively like it when a backing vocalist or musician gets featured or equal top billing when they deserve it - it happens way too seldom. But what did Askjell do to get top billing here? Did he only get it because it wasn't good enough for Aurora to want it?

  • @fitbmx7744

Aurora wrote the lyrics with Askjell, his music is all instrumental and so beautiful.
Also Aurora was really into dance from the age of 6 to 16 when her music took off, there is a video of her on CZcams dancing when she was like 14 or 15 and she is quite good.

If you’re interested, I’d recommend watching the other music videos on Askjell’s channel. He’s only released 5 songs so far and To Be Loved is the only one with singing, but the other songs are quite good too. All of them are related and seem to be telling a story about the couple you saw in this video. I’m still not 100% sure what the story is, but it’s fun to try to figure it out and it really makes you think. Anyway, great reaction! ❤️

The musical range of Aurora is staggering. I think its safe to say that there is no other artist out there right now with this kind of diversity. Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello Tailor Swift, etc. They literally got billions of views between them on the internet but they can't even carry her shoes when it comes to sheer talent and skill. Dont get me wrong, they are all talented and good artist but... Aurora really got it all. Talent, skill, the looks and personallity. Jeez.

I love this song so much! I don't know why but this song made me feel a little bit anxious when it was released, as if I could listen the despair or disappointment from it. It's a really deep feeling I can't explain.
Askjell and Aurora wrote this song together, he also produced a lot of Aurora's songs. It's such a strong partnership!
Again another great reaction, Adam! Thank you so much!
About what you said of Exist for love being a sequence of this song. I think you should check "I Went too far" from Aurora. It fits the question of being a previous song for Exist for love, in my opinion.
Check the "P3 Christine Live: Aurora "I Went Too Far" video. It's only Aurora and the keyboards. It's stunning!! And also she covering Believer - Imagine Dragons, it's the same channel.

It's funny 'cause most electronic songs that we hear deploy all the same tricks and tactics (sound and effect wise), but it never comes out quite as highbrow as here, does it? to me it comes down to substance. If the artist has a meaning in their head that they want to convey first, and then they make sure to do that meaning justice... not just focusing on the outer sound that comes out and playing with form with no prior idea at the center.
Watching your reaction helped me to delve deeper into the meanings of the song. yes it does seem to be a twin soul with "exist for love". It's funny that Aurora doesn't just string random words for effect as many lyricist do, instead she actually realistically tackles the issue at hand and tries to give a balance review of that subject, as a philosopher or great thinker would... I can imagine when she says "waking up, thinking of what it feels to be loved...", she actually has done that. And all the thought that come after are different worries and anxieties that she might have felt. She seem to have this belief about single people being "half of a whole" in both those songs, so that's another thing to consider when she sings/thinks(!) about love. So she's not like those feminist women who say you don't need men, she as a genuine thinker can't help but put light on the truth even if it doesn't please certain agendas. Yeah life does seem to get easier when you share it with somebody, we as men or women do seem to be in constant search or envy or curiosity about the other half of life which is the other gender....
So yeah It's a great song , and it's true that you do have to build fences, 'cause once you're in love you are vulnerable to anything, so you have to also be assertive and set boundaries as to not be dragged in to a toxic relationship. So to me in this song she seems to be someone who's contemplating and preparing for a wise love that is fail-proof. and that's a modern way that maybe our younger generations want to tackle love, so as to not repeat previous generation's paths ...

Thanks, Adam, for another great review! I think this was a fantastic collaboration, I was recently listening to this song on Spotify, but it didn't have Aurora's vocals on it, lol. After listening to more from the artist, it seems they are mostly instrumental, but I feel Aurora's voice really adds to the greatness of the song. You spoke of how you enjoy concept albums or something that connect in an ongoing story. Forgive my mentioning Kamelot again, but the Epica and Black Halo albums are parts one and two of concepts meant to tell the story of Faust, a classic epic poem by Goethe. I'm also curious, have you ever listened to Björk? Considering that Björk is one of Aurora's inspirations, you might enjoy some of her (older) music, lol. I look forward to the next review! Adam Straughan are you familiar with Vocaloids? Here are a couple of suggestions for you:
      Crescent Moon, by Kaito
World’s End Dancehall | Hatsune Miku & Megurine Luka | Magical Mirai 2019 in Tokyo

I'd also suggest you this: Wardruna - Lyfjaberg (Healing-mountain). It's not Japanese, but I know you like that kind of music, like me.

I love the whole song but i really really like the vibe after 6:30

  • @talyajazizlararodriguez178

This song is sooo good to just close your eyes and feel the music.
So maybe if you like Aurora, you might also like Alice Phoebe Lou (even if you check it out on your own), I recommend *Walking in the Garden* or *Society* pretty damn good
