Not the biggest fan of Letterman, but the Late Night Orchestra with Michael Martin Murphy is the best performance of any "Late Night Show" I have ever seen. They nailed both songs with true passion and emotion in their playing. I hope the audience roared for more to show some ultimate respect!
Great memories of the mid-70s while I was in the United States Marine Corps, at Camp LeJeune, NC. Yes, Jacksonville, North "Carolina" has the Pines. Miss it.
Maaaan...all I can say....a performer who can lose you in the music...release the bonds of earthiness.....transcendence...sooooo wonderful...thanks for the video.
Mid-1970’s 3M played “Wildfire” without accompaniment at a Hillsborough Ave bar in Raleigh, NC. Mostly college audience was rude to him but he was professional and a virtuoso singer/guitarist. He earned my respect & admiration that night. Still has it! Inspiring & beautiful song!
Pure musical bliss in Carolina in the pines for both the listener and the musician. The song ends and Anton Fig is like nope here is a monster drum roll y'all bring that jam back for a minute! Best live Letterman performance I ever witnessed right here !
Tony Tricskra killing it on the banjo

The banjo picking in the last 30 seconds is truly world class. What a performance all around.
These live Letterman performances are awesome!!!!
2 of the best songs ever recorded. Carolina in the pines has become a blue grass standard.
Tony killin' it on the banjo!
Paul knew what a great piece that was and played his heart out on it.
His voice, much like this song, is absolutely ageless.
Tony Trischka on banjo!
Sometimes I would say "I don't care too much for country music", but I would always catch myself humming this song from back in the
Two of my favorite western / classic country songs ever -- I'm not really even into country & western in general, but love these.

Music is a beautiful gift from above.

Paul Shaffer never fails to amaze me. I see him in so many band's videos, and he fits in seamlessly. Agree this entire performance is fantastic.
