that commodore actually was pretty bad ass
Holdens have 3 basic trim levels for sedans "Commodore", "Berlina" and "Calais" which equate roughly to Chev, Olds and Buick with the Statesman being similar to Cadillac. Our car market is so small that GM has only one division here.
James McMechan actually the berlina name was dropped after the Ve series, and the 'commodore' name incorporated many trim levels from SS, SSV, SSV Redline, SV6, S, Excecutive, Omega, Evoke etc

HSV are more of a tuning house like Linginfelter or Shelby.

Australian V8's are the most common car in the country. We love our V8 engines!

TheGreggy711 General Mayhem was more or less built for the dirt and they modified the muscle truck too. One of their first videos with the wagon and the van was dirt only and the cop car thrash partly. In the next Roadkill they are getting a Monte Carlo with hydraulics and offroad tires.
***** yea i agree but the cool thing about this show is that is about imports and there is more variety of cars then just muscle car like in Road Kill there most of the time we get to see the same cars.

here we in Canada and the US are all drooling over a S15 chassis, and you guys on the wrong side of the earth are hacking one up... XD
anyways... the car will need massive skid plates... will be super awesome to have double struts on each corner for massive jumps...(but i think that will be hard for you guys to pull off) but anything that comes close to one of those dakar machines will be MAD!!!!!
vincent sit dime a dozen down here. Mostly driven by high school dudes they're cheap and relatively quick.
This one has been written off and isn't road legal so it might as well be turned into something you can have fun in

nickdudem absolutely untrue. I don't see how someone would have a full license before they graduate high school and there's no way in hell you'd get away with driving one on your P plates without an exemption, which they don't hand out for cars like the S15. You could get an Autech S15, but they're expensive as heck for a 15 year old N/A car thats probably had a good thrashing (think at least 12 thousand dollars). A turbo S15 would cost at least 10k for a half decent example. Cheap is not a word you use to describe an S15. This is all assuming you live in Australia, which I gather from "dime a dozen down here.".
Dude, went to school in Penrith. 4 NA S15s in my year, none of which cost over 14k. Not expensive, and very common. If you think 12k is expensive, you're pretty friggin poor
lift it up and add some off-road tires, to give it some off road-ability.

Dylan Amesur it means it was claimed by the insurance after an accident etc so it cannot be put back on the road. Unless you repair it then do a bunch of paperwork, get it inspected etc etc. After that it will have a rebuilt title making the car worth half its value also very hard to get insurance too.

Statutory means it cannot be registered for road use again. The state they live in statutory writes off any car for any damage, no repairable write offs. In all other Australian States as far as I know you're able to repair it unless the chassis is damaged too much.

Eh I've had more fun in a 1.6L turbocharged Juke than in a 4.6L V8 Cobra, but that's just me.

This is fantastic. I've been counting the days since I saw the Fury Road trailer in August. Like many of you I grew up watching the Mad Max trilogy (saw 2, and 3 in the theaters as a too young kid), so this is happiness3.
Also for those of us who are not aussies, what's the difference between the commodore and the monaro? The shell looks extremely similar..

Monaro in it's third generation was a 2 door coupe version of the VX/VY/VZ Commodore sedan. It used to be a coupe back in the '70's too.
***** Monaro = Pontiac GTO, Commodore = Pontiac G8 in the US
*****: Both of them, like the Pontiac GTO and the G8, are build on the same General Motors platform. So, like the others said before, they are basically the same except for the body shell.
Other Cars on the same platform are the Cadilac Catera and the Opel Omega B, which we got here in germany also as a station wagon = maaaaaad! :D

Ben Ward All Australian built Holden vehicles are manufactured at Elizabeth, South Australia, and engines are produced at the Fishermans Bend plant in Port Melbourne, Victoria.
+Ben Ward American design, but all the ones for Australia were made there. I think gm just shut down that plant too. fyi the Pontiac got 04-06 was taken from the Holden.
Holden stopped making V8s in 1999 then they imported LS1s, the one in this episode is a LS1.
Holden only make V6s in Port Melbourne, the V8s come from the United States and Mexico

Pontiac GTOs were a rebadged Holden Monaro, itself based on the VX Commodore chassis, and later its own V2 chassis.

Pontiac GTO = Vauxhall Monaro = Holden Commodore. It's all the same car, different markets.
