  • The unique Antonov An-225, the world's largest stopped of at Glasgow Prestwick International in Scotland to take on fuel after a 6 hour trip from Bangor Maine in the USA where it had been loaded with 8 Oshkosh Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT).
The Oshkosh trucks will be fitted with the Iron Dome equipment that has proven itself as a highly-accurate defensive system for shooting down unguided rockets. First introduced in 2001, some 10 Iron Dome batteries are believed to be deployed around Israel where they have shot down an estimated 2,000 rockets fired by terrorists, mostly from Hamas-controlled Gaza.
Last year the U.S. Defense Department signed a contract to purchase two complete Iron Dome Systems, meant as an interim missile defense solution for the U.S., but Defense News reported that Iron Dome could turn into a permanent solution depending on its performance in the field for the Americans.
Deliveries of the two systems for the U.S. Army are expected to commence in December 2020 and February 2021.
Known by its nickname Mriya (dream), the AN-225 is the largest aircraft ever produced and has over 30 wheels, six jet engines and a wingspan of 290 feet compared to the widest Boeing 747 jumbo jet whose wingspan is 211 feet.

I doubt it will ever happen. There's indeed not too much demand for such a plane. It was in fact not originally built to be a crgo plane. It was built to carry the Russian space shuttle Buran on top. But that never happened, and it was put in storage for years until they renovated it and changed it into what it is now.

Antonov design Bureau only exists on paper . Ukraine has not produced any aircraft since 2000 . The an-225 Mriya is a Soviet transport jet of super-large payload developed by the OKB named after Russian aircraft designer O. K. Antonov. The largest and heaviest aircraft in the world in the history of aviation . The aircraft was designed and built in the USSR in a single copy at the Kiev mechanical plant (project Manager - Russian aircraft designer V. I. Tolmachev) in 1984-88. The first flight was made on December 21, 1988. Initially, two planes were laid down; currently, only one instance is in flight condition and is operated by the Ukrainian company Antonov Airlines. In the USSR, it had the tail number of the USSR-82060, after the collapse of the USSR, it became the property of Ukraine and now has the tail number UR-82060. The second copy was never completed due to the collapse of the Ukrainian industry .

@@eugeniodimilano - This kind of "truth" regarding not only planes, but history, and politics in general, is being promoted by Russians to support their "hybrid" political agenda on the former Soviet Union space and all over the world.
While it is true that An-225 ( "Мрія" in Ukrainian) was built not for the needs of Ukraine and in collaboration of many other republics (wings - Uzbekistan, for instance), the main parts of it, - materials, alloys, fuselage, powers engines, hydrolic systems, avionics,- were not only designed but produced in Ukraine. In Ukraine are located not only the design bureau Antonov, but also the production plants in Kyiv, Kharkov, Zaporiggia) as well as many academic institutions working in the field. That's why the plane was designed in the Ukrainian Socialist Republic in the first place.
And it is not true that no new planes were designed and built after the collapse of the USSR: Antonov- 148, 158, 178, Antonov -132, and other projects for Iran an other countries. Or again are they Russian?

Soros!
