    TLDL: buy a freezer you fit in, dont skimp due to price. get one wo metal on the inside (only plastic). fill the drain hole with sealant to make sure no leaks. fish pump + ozone to sanitze (absolute must) maybe get 2 ozone pumps one on each side. make sure you have a cleaning process streamlined with a strong pump. otherwise your cleaning takes too long at 6 min time stamp. Nail your timer so the temp is the same all the time.

    I bought a $25 pump that hooks to your drill and a hose, I run the hose from my cold tank to the end of my back yard or the edge of the road (guess it depends where you live etc) but I syphon out the water that way whenever I want and itโ€™s a piece of cake.

    you could set up a pid temperature controller to turn it off and on instead of using a timer. With pid temperature controller you would set the temperature you want it to turn on at and temperature you would want it to shut off at and it would keep it in that range always

      Pay $15 for an Elitech STC-1000. Easy to fit, and worked perfectly now for over 2 years. I set my freezer to switch on at 4 degrees and switch off at 5 degrees. I have a small pool, so I just use the chlorinated pool water, and change it out every month, so no need for a filtration system. Again, zero hassle. I donโ€™t know why anyone would purposefully block the drain plug? Just wrap the outside plug in PTFE plumbers tape, and its completely watertight, but can still be easily removed for draining.

    Looked high and low for a foot locker style trunk to store my daughter's dress up clothes. czcams.com/users/postUgkxRkkpE1_3gMEZ2mPhAt6b2moNCUXyH8tG I had one growing up that I stored my Barbies in and wanted something sturdy like that for her costumes. This arrived really, really quickly and is exactly what I've been looking for. Perfect size, color (pink) and has stood up for nearly a year so far against my kids using it as a chair, stage, and barricade (๐Ÿ˜ฌ) to keep each other out of their rooms. I'm probably going to order another one for my daughter's Barbies.

    Put a filter on your freezer temperature controller and ozone machine, saves changing the water. I put everything through the lid and it works great. The other thing is use good sealant and l used a water proof 2 pack paint on top of sealant and l have no leaks. Have fun with your cold plunging.

    • @john99776
      @john99776 Pล™ed mฤ›sรญcem

      Good question. Get an Inkbird temp controller instead of a timer. You can set the desired temp directly with that. Get an ozonater that is programmable itself.
      Set up your electrical cords so that the ozonater always stays on to maintain the program (no wires go to the tub, only ozone). The Inkbird supplies power to the freezer when it needs to. Set up the aquarium pump to stay on, except when you pull the plug to the Inkbird before getting in, when your plug setup will cut the power to the aquarium pump also - thus no electric to the plunge before getting in. Use a separate battery alarm timer nearby to tell you when you want to get out.

    • @JonBorpa
      @JonBorpa Pล™ed rokem +1

      No I think some freezers just have different wall material. Some have painted steel some are plastic and some have dimpled shiny aluminum. I think it's a good bet that you should probably seal all the seems regardless. I would think that the aluminum ones would be nice but I don't know

    Just curious, wouldn't it be better to use the drain system of the freezer to change the water? Why sealing it? Would it leak otherwise?

    • @john99776
      @john99776 Pล™ed mฤ›sรญcem +1

      Yes, it would probably leak, because you have a couple of feet of water weight pressing down on it. It's only built for nuisance water that may get into a food freezer, not for taking pressure.

  • @john99776
    @john99776 Pล™ed mฤ›sรญcem

    These are good tips, except that I don't think you have good reasons for saying that the temp doesn't matter.
    I have a metal lined freezer. First I sealed the joints and the drain plug with Water Weld. Then I lined the inside with 2 coats of epoxy pond liner. I keep the temp at 39F with an Inkbird controller, and there is no ice in the water. I use the plunge first thing after getting out of bed, twice a week, for 5 1/2 minutes. The aquarium pump and ozonater work fine and keep the water clean. If I want to change the water once in a while, I use a portable electric transfer pump from Harbor Freight and garden hose to suck all the water out and down my driveway, then wipe the plunge and refill.
    You are right - if you're going to do cold therapy, you need to have things set up to do it quickly and easily.
    PS Have all your electrical cords/power, etc. in a nice condensed setup so you can disconnect the freezer, aquarium pump and thermostat by pulling out just one electrical plug before you get in each time. Pull the plug, see the Inkbird go dark, set a separate timer alarm, and get in. Be safe.

      I made a platform for mine so that the weight was distributed equally. I cut out space in the platform so that I could keep the wheels on but also that the weight was off of the wheels. I would not be distributing the weight of the cold plunge on the wheels. It's dangerous and you could damage the freezer unit.

      how did the wheels go, i did some quick density load calcs for 14.8 cubic feet of water/human body you will have up to 900 pounds inside the freezer, plus 100-200 pounds for the freezer. i would want the wheels to be rated for 300 pounds per minimum. and realistically 500 pounds per wheel rating to accept shifting weight as you get in and out.

This didn't appear till after i put ozone machine in water. I had it set to run 5 mins every 4 hrs. Never noticed anything green on the sides. Why seal the drain? Donโ€™t you need to change the water sometimes?

      No just keep the same water till it's sewage brown then add curry and tumeric an garlic. It kills any bacteria ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿงซ

    Nice - so how often do you use the ozonizer, for how long? and is it flammable?

    Apparently the Ozone generator doesn't work for more then a glass of water from what I've been told. This is not a good purchase to clean the water. There is a JED 203. I accidentally purchased it and it will die very quickly. How long did you use your ozone generator before it died?

    • @wellnessdaddy
      @wellnessdaddy  Pล™ed 3 lety +1

      mine never died

      Good to know. I have one. I run it on setting 18. 20min every 4 hour. There is a better model the jed230. But figured I would ask as others were concerned this one would not last or provide enough ozone to kill germs.

      @@wellnessdaddy Glad to know that, I have spoke with some others that have done these deep freezers and from what I understand this Device does not provide enough "ozone" to barley clean a glass of water, let alone 14cubic ft of water. That is why I asked, some have criticized my purchased of this device & might end up costing me more in the long run having to go get the JED230 anyway since it is more sufficient in cleaning a large body of water like this.

    Why are you talking about turning your freezer on and off with a timer if you have Inkbird that does exactly that, starts and stops according to your water temperature?

      the inkbird is something I discovered after I made this video that I think is a better option what I originally created

    I bought an ice machine on ebay for $152. It makes 40-50lb of ice a day. I keep it in the guest bathrrom as there is plenty of space and a bathtub. Boom - cold plunge. I think most people are overthinking the cold therapy. Just get cold for as little money as possible bc you do not look cool spending hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars to get cold. You instead look like someone who is easily manipulated by the fad of the year. For the record I can certainly afford any of those cold plunge options - or i can take my family to Hawaii in February for a similar price. Ice it is. Be smart. Nice ring.

      You can afford anything except an engineering degree. You will quickly pay more for ice than a DIY cold plunge.

    Should have used Teflon tape on the drain plug so you can still use it.
