    Now i see why IT took so long to finish, everything îs oem, great job ! Awesome job ! Hope to do the same in the future on my 93 Dr DAKAR.
    P.s. on 3:30, when You put the cap on the carburetor, there should be a small o ring. Congrats once again ! Best Dr restoration in yt

      Thanks
      FYI, the Mikuni carbs on these DR’s don’t need a o ring, because that feature isn’t used on these carbs, the bore is just a blank. The parts diagrams also confirms that.

    • @restorationvalve
      @restorationvalve  Před rokem +1

      @@mircearadu3854 Nop, that fitting doesn’t go anywhere on these carbs. That’s just a feature left over from other applications for this carburetor body.
      The DR’s don’t have nothing connected to that fitting and there is no need for
      a o-ring.

      @restorationvalve  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Greetings,
      I did the first 500km on the mineral oil.
      Then I did a filter and oil change and added mineral oil again. Rode with that 1000km. Just to be 100% sure that everything is running as it should.
      After that I switched to a synthetic oil.

      Thanks!
      Getting parts for these bike are becoming more difficult by the minute.
      Hardest part was with the plastics, getting unbroken and unpainted ones was a huge achievement.
      Not even mentioning that everything is going up in price, when working on the project the expenses became noticeable more pricey

      @@restorationvalve is it true that on this vintage, the piston tends to become oval? (excuse my english I'm french ;🙂)

    • @restorationvalve
      @restorationvalve  Před 10 měsíci

      @@fournierluc7512 I haven’t incounted a case like that. Most of the cases that I have seen the piston is damaged do to the fact that the timing chain has skipped because the guides have been worn out and the valves have hit the piston.
      But I don’t doubt doubt that fact, because these bikes tend to be put under heavy load that make the engine run under high temperatures.
