Love this song. Perhaps it needs to grow on you
I love this song!!! Love apocalyptic mood in the end.
Hey Seph, i highly recommend you the biggest masterpiece of this album : "Should be higher". You will not be disappointed.
Agree😃 And bevore that, Broken is also one of my facourite😎
@@depeche1972the bare-version of Broken is something else! It blew my mind! :) Still does.
Remember Seph hated Somebody during his first listen but now lists it as one of DM's best!
It took me a second listening and hearing it live for me to change my mind though.
So maybe this one deserves the same treatment?
Surprised u didn't like this one. One of the highlights for the album for me. The demo is also great!
It's like from some thriller movie... I love it
Martin sings in the chorus, when you see it live version it will be clearer
My favourite from Delta Machine.
Dave and Martin sing, Martin usually sings higher but he can do it lower too, I'll give you an example from his second cover album in case you want to listen to it, Martin L. Gore - Loverman, it's a song by Nick Cave
I love the live of that
Yeah! I hope you eventually react to Dave and Martin’s solo albums.
You should listen to the demo version that got leaked last year in the Delta Machine demos which is called Secret which is way better than this version even though this is one of the highlights of this album.
This is my favorite of the album along with Alone, they are the darkest instrumentally and this one has an incredible melancholic atmosphere, the sound of course is what I like the most and it has a lot of sparkle, when I heard it for the first time I clicked right away. Apart from that, the final sequence goes very much on the dramatic side as if it were Never Let Me Down Again, obviously not at that level. Dave's voice sounds really good and macabre in a way and the chorus is pretty good. without a doubt one of my favorites from Depeche Mode along with Barrel Of a Gun, Nothing's Impossible, The Sinner In Me and Useless
Alone is a maaaasterpiece!
The demo is a lot better……🎼🎼
Totally dsagree
The demo version was not bad but far from sounding like Delta Machine in its final product, and that vocal performance and sound would not fit with the concept of the Delta Machine, and I consider that that version is inferior to this final product, it is darker and has that sensual and provocative sound of the band, the other would fit better on an album like Dave Gahan's Hourglass
naaaah
Pretty sure it’s Mart & Dave singing that marching section of this song. Fletch didn’t sing too much. Maybe sometimes in live concerts, for example in Live in Hamburg ’85 😊
Ohhhh ok, i have such a hard time identifying Martin and dave when listening to their songs 😡 been reacting to their stuff for over 2 years now and im still making mistakes 👀
No worries ☀️
Best songs off this albums are Alone, Broken, Should Be Higher, Soothe My Soul, and Long Time Lie
I think this one is really good. I like especially the guitar part.
When Delta Machine first came out, this wasn’t one of my favorite tracks, but now that I’m going through a terrible breakup, it makes sense now. Martin sings background vocals. I don’t remember them doing this song on the tour. Does anyone know?
Was never played on tour…
I also had to listen a few time to this, at the end i liked this song, somehow😅
Of course it was played. It was a pretty regular track in the live setlist back in 2013.
@@larsgutheil5520 right😅 Long time ago😄🙈
This and Should Be Higher are my favorite tracks on Delta Machine!
Next one is very weird one! i mean Very weird one!😂
I do like this song but I also respect your opinion.
What you were hearing was a call and response between Dave and Martin, so you're hearing them go back and forth. I like the song - mostly the music. Dave wrote this song. You may notice certain themes when Dave writes the songs. The call and response reminds me more of certain churches rather than the military, but I can see that too and why that wouldn't appeal to you.
You missed in chains by alan
Im still waiting...sigh
He's already said he'll do mixes later. Right now he's doing the albums.
Yeah but its not good
I actually like the song. Deep synths, guitar. Vocals are fine, but the rest - 😘😘😘😘😘😘
Have you reacted Light from Sounds of the Universe????
I miss it.....
I think this moment says it all. (5:25)
What do you think of this song Brad?
@@SephPlays Listening to songs like this one, I do seriously wonder if Martin might be suffering from so much hearing loss from years of performing that he's unable to hear the cacophony of noise here. I do love that moment which I timestamped above where it appears your patience, your benefit of the doubt, has finally been exhausted with listening to this unrelenting dissonant aural assault.
@@balovettThis song was written by Dave, not Martin.
@@Simon-fl1tl well that explains at least half of it!
Over the years I've tried so hard to like this song, but the repetitive noise of the "chorus" makes it painful to listen too. Hard work and Dave's lyrics are a bit childish this time.
I have some issues with Depeche Mode's stiff sound around this time, and its lack of growe, rhythm and depth. It is very stiff, cold and not least flat.
I argue that the band puts significantly less energy and importance on the sound and production at this time than during the heyday of the -80s and -90s where the sound formed a large part of the band's identification and image.
And since none of the remaining band members are particularly interested in the production itself, it has become that the hired producer creates and produces the sound, to which the band probably has few objections and reasons that - "it will do", roughly
Mediocre mode😂
Con esta canción has estado demasiado condicionado, te entiendo.
Don't know why people are going on about the In Chains mix by Alan, though it did occur to me that you did miss one song believe it or not. Q Magazine did a tribute to U2's Achtung Baby, and DM contributed a cover of the song, So Cruel. Maybe you can do it after you're done with all the albums. You might think it's almost over but there are so many avenues you can go down, remixes, live tracks, alternate takes. Anyway, Secret... was written by Dave at his mediocre "best". I can always recognize a Dave lyric because it's horrible, meandering, embarrassing. The music is good, like that bass sequence, but that could have been used on any song. He usually only has one good song per album and in this case it's Should Be Higher.
Cos in chans the only song where you can see the difference what alan ment to dm. Sincs he left (1995) the depeche feeling has disappeared. Even though the song are great. But the packeging is very avarage. The unique sound was made by alan. But they dont admit it
I'm not talking about its merits, Seph has said he wants to get through the albums first and then check out remixes.
This is really good example of a song witch maybe will hit after listening a few time… but in the first year of release from this album i skipped it always😬😄😄
Same for the next two songs😂
I am locking forward to „Broken“😎
Agree, Seph. This is not a good song by DM standards. In fact its a bit irritating!
its Martin
Great reaction seph. I also don't like that army sounding stuff but luckily i don't hear it in there or you would have just ruined it for me 😂😂😂 its another one that gets better and better over time 😅
I wouldn't mind giving this one another shot in the future. But for now i'm happy with just the once
Once you get all the albums and play through from start to finish you will probably like ones that you didn't like before .this one is one of those tracks : )
I do agree 😉
Delta Machine is a bit hit and miss for me but this track does grow with more play
And definitely Martin backing
The demo version czcams.com/video/hMxRvYrw9Nc/video.htmlsi=4UvMqjagcoyHzL9U
I like this Song, but the Refrain is not the best....
This is the first written by Dave, Broken & Should be higher, also written by Dave, are fantastic, maybe the Highlights on Delta Machine.
It's a very good tune. It will grow on you for sure
It reminds me of Wrong. A bit too repetitive
Im going to have to admit though i loved "Wrong" 😅
I'm like you on this one. I don't like this song very much. I often skip it.
Great song, but sounds and production too basic. Missed opportunity.
For me the chorus is weak ..the whole "should have been you" layered over too much ..rest of the song is great, but the repetitiveness of the chorus becomes too jumbled. One of these years you will be able to distinguish Dave, Martins voices, lol
Long time DM fan here, Delta machine album is the only album I just can't get on with at all. Oddly enough I heard some of the demo's and I prefer them. The bonus tracks are not bad either but the album is the worst in my opinion only.
una cosa o r r i b i l e !!!!
Good song, but too long. I didn’t like only My Little Universe (the next one, by the way, it’s just too long, you can skip first 20 seconds, trust me), The Child Inside (too simple in music) and Soft Touch/Raw Nerve (too simple at all).
Can you please do one for Alan Wilder's remix of "In Chains"?
Stupid lyrics, always pushed to end on YOU. For the song, it’s ok, I like the chord change in the Pre Chorus. But it’s much to dry, no reverbs! And most of all no real drums! Reverbs could have lifted this song so well, there are similarities to ING!
Totally agree. Dull production on this one.
Its meh
You're not in the mood for this album.
