The one statement you made in this video is so true about the one's that consider theirselves the highest Christians are less likely to help others in need, I've seen that so much. I've seen Christians that are not as well off as others that will help with out a doubt. You make so much sense to me and appreciate you!!!!!!

    I am watching this video about the Good Samaritan during the riots following the tragic death of George Floyd. T.D. Jakes used this parable to point out that the church has gotten really good at looking away from injustice...walking away from injustice. I think Parr has done a brilliant job of getting to the core meaning of this parable. He said more in 11 minutes than I could say in an hour.

    You can never be a Good Samaritan. Many people make resolution “ I should be like the Good Samaritan!!” But in the real massage in Luke 10 telling us try to be like the good Samaritan? “The only Good Samaritan is Jesus. Then who are we ? We are the man who fell among thieves.” Jesus is telling us, “ you are the man who fell among thieves. That’s why you need me!!”

    I love this parable too. Perhaps it is even my favourite. It is the most perfect fantasy ever created, exactly mirroring the reality of what everyone believes. It has been created like this on purpose, for God always loves extremes. It is generally acknowledged. in fact, that your “neighbor”, the person to help and the one you are responsible about, is a member of your family. I cannot think of anyone who would help in any way someone who is not related in any way to him/her. And the Samaritan not only was not related to his helper, he was even from a different tribe, and even a sworn enemy!

    The Parable of the Good Samaritan is really the ideal way to love others and be a neighbor to other people., But the reality is very different, we are amazed by the ideal teachings but in our actions we can only love back those who loved us. And Jesus said, loving back those who loves us can be done also by pagans and unbelievers. The only difference we can do to differentiate us from unbelievers is if we love our enemies but many christians failed in this even me. I continue praying for divine enablement to put this kind of love in practice, not only in my mind. God Bless us All!!

    You can't really justify the priest's actions by saying the priest might have been going up to Jerusalem for religious services, and didn’t want to be late, or couldn’t touch this man because touching blood would make him ceremonially unclean. But if you look at the Greek, it’s pretty clearly stated that the priest was not going up to Jerusalem, up to the temple-he was coming down from the temple and headed toward Jericho. Any religious services he might have needed to perform were finished.

    The ultimate compassion blocker is our inability to love God, because if we truly love God then it is evident in how we love others, especially those that are hard to love. We love because HE first loved us...

    Luke 10:30-35 "And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
    And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
    And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
    But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
    And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
    And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee."

    The point of this parable is that if we try to justify ourselves according to our own righteousness we will fail. We don't love God as we should. We don't love others as we should, and we should realize that. What goes unsaid in this story is that the lawyer walked away unjustified because he did not ask the follow-on question, "How can I do the impossible?" Answer, believe in Jesus's perfect atonement.

    Alan, So thankful for your dedication to Christ!
    Buying and selling God's love is why some Christians don't help like in the parable of the Good Samaritan.
    If they can't get something in return for the gift of love (which they received for free), I believe this is the mark of the beast.
    Many times (which I have personally witnessed) when a church does something for the community they are hoping to get more people to attend and join their church.
    Christians are dripping with love to overflowing but if a person doesn't attend church with them they won't love them because they do this it do that against their rules. They want everyone to do as they do and then they will love them.
    This is truly what buying and selling means and having the mark of the beast means. It's the intentions of the heart.
    In Revelation 13:16-17King James Version (KJV)
    16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
    17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

    Could this also be interpreted to mean that any one that helps you is your neighbor.
    The Samaritan in this situation was the injured man’s neighbor in this parable and the first two people that passed him by was not his neighbor. So does that mean if the situation was reversed and the two people that didn’t help the injured man initially was also robbed and beaten up, would the man be obligated to help them under the command of “love thy neighbor as thyself” as they have already proven themselves not to be his neighbor?

    The point of the parable was to show the man that we could never live up to these perfect standards of loving one another. This was the whole reason for the law, to show us how imperfect and in need of a savior we are, not a way to work our way to heaven. Therefore, we must be justified (made righteous) through Jesus' sacrifice for us, because this is the ONLY way we will ever be good enough to inherit eternal life. Nobody can possibly do enough or love others good enough to make it into heaven on their own. We need Jesus, plain and simple, he is the only way.

  • @JAGMJGKMG
    @JAGMJGKMG Před 2 lety

    This parable is a riddle. Most people only see it as face value, thinking that the entire point is that we should try to love others like the Good Samaritan did on the injured man. It actually goes deeper than that.
    Let's back up. The question was "Who is my neighbor". Jesus replied with the parable of the Good Samaritan. Then he asked, "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell on the hands of the robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him".
    The answer of "who is a neighbor" in this case was "The one that had mercy" on the injured man.
    So, back to the Law of God, "Love your neighbor as yourself". Keep in mind, the neighbor was the one that showed mercy, the Samaritan.
    If that is true, then the real point is we must love those that have mercy upon us (according to the definition of what a neighbor is in this parable). The Samaritan was defined as the neighbor, and not actually the injured man himself.
    This parable is a mirroring of what Jesus did for us, he had mercy on sinners and this is why we must love God, because he first loved us by showing mercy to us.
    So, to summarize, in order to inherit eternal life, we must do two things:
    1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.
    2. Love your neighbor (your benefactor, those that help you, those that look after you, care for you, have your best interest, the Good Samaritans in your life) as yourself.

  • @scottn7694
    @scottn7694 Před 2 lety +1

    Uh, you missed the whole point. Jesus is the good Samaritan in the parable and we (in our sin) are the beaten guy. Jesus has compassion on us, puts us on his horse, heals us, and Pays our Sin Debt in Full! The sub plot is treating other people as neighbors, the main plot is Jesus is the Good Samaritan. Why don't more people understand this? Its a parable about Jesus - they all are!
