How to Backup/Copy Video Files From Swann 4575/4580 DVR

- I had a hard time finding information on how to get video files off my DVR and none of the videos out there seemed to be for the software on my 4575 DVR so once I got it figured out I thought I would share. I believe this will also work on 1590, and 1600 model DVRS and should be applicable for 4-8 or 16 Channel versions.

I actually regret buying Swann with 8 cameras. Swann has the worst video lessons and no customer service at all. Your video tuturial did teach me how to download to a usb,,,, finally someone figured it out and has a teddy big bear heart and shared it with us. Thanks Erik,,, *.*

tried swann no luck getting frustrated this video popped up after the swann clip finished about 2-30 mins brilliant solved the problem of someone stealing from my car provided footage to police he was arrested within4hrs great vid erick

You are a life saver, thank you for the video.I have the same model and I had some footage I needed to record for a court case and was struggling to understand how to transfer it to external source. Hi Erik! That was SO helpful - THANK YOU! I have the exact same software version - (and, incidentally, as it happens, even the same Acer monitor!!!). Your description is fantastic and described in easy steps and has enabled me to make backup files to a USB stick. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
At 5:20 you can add a folder. At the top right gives you the option to add a folder to the usb.
Great video but it was 37 minutes, not seconds :) At any rate I was able to save a clip this way, so thanks. I as well did MP4 and that is because H264 is not recognized by my media players on my computer. That is likely a swann format and you would need a special viewer to view that file or at least some kind of plug-in. It's easier to just do MP4 as that is already a recognized format on most players.

HI, anyway you could help with a video how to record constant and motion. I don't know if I highlighted right. I see the running man in the pic , so guess motion is on. When i play it back to see appears to be in constant mode. I took off the yellow highlight and just green inbetween for weekdays. Not sure, trying to figure out if it's off constant record. Help?? Please and Thankyou. The Swann community can't download the manual. I have emailed them and asking for last month now.

My system is not on the line. I am using the USB port already to plug in the mousse. Is there any other way to plug in a memory stick in order to make a backup files...?

Do you know what version firmware you have at the time of this video?
V7.1.0-20170310 perhaps? I updated mine and the firmware is not satisfactory and what to go back to factory firmware.
I just can remember what version it was.
Its under SYSTEM, INFO SOFTWARE VERSION

Erik, thanks for your video. When you click on the scissors, how to you spread the two red arrows. I only get one red vertical line. I can't get it to spread.
Just click on other green area or on the time you want to capture until . It will have another red arrow then

Ive got the 4580, so are you saying the memory stick drive cant be just any that can be formatted? which type is needed? i found even easier ways to locate alarm event select time span and thumbnails appear, select thumbnails hit save. However it wont allow a backup its not finding a usb drive ive plugged in 3 and nothing.
Any video on how to add a external harddrive to this model?

Hi actually i forgot my pasword so if i try to put the super pasword it dosent show me option like q p or anythng like dat as its only from a to f wat should i do ?
