just did my swap today. its a millions times better then sync 2. i also added sound deadened the doors, stuffed the sub with poly, and installed the powerbass speakers on the doors. The stereo is amazing now! i've used some of your videos to help me do this without breaking anything. thanx again
I also did a 4" to SYNC3 on a 2015 Focus. You ain't lying about that being difficult. The hard part is figuring out all the parts needed and where to get them.
@@royxale I went from 2 to 3. So, it was incredibly straightforward. Replaced the screen/APIM combo. Aftermarket GPS. I also got a newer USB hub. The USB hub isn't strictly necessary for Android Auto. It is necessary for CarPlay. It also shows a message on screen about an incompatible USB at start up.
@@freak3dot how do you get the program files for your modules after you change out all the screens and do the conversion? I see some sites are charging 100 bucks for it. Is there a way to get this without paying for it?

Great video, I'm getting ready to do the same thing on my 2015 Lariat. You mentioned you were having trouble with the 360 camera system and that you replaced the camera module, did that fix your issue as I'm having the same issue, except its just the backup camera not 360?

I have 136k miles on it. I have replaced the water pump, evap purge, camera module, and both running board motors. I paid 28,500 imported from Canada. I am happy with it.

You ain't kidding, Sync2 really sucks, I curse the dev team every time I get in my truck! My questions, is how is the map database updated? S2 uses the SD card, and I see this mod replaces that (My usb interface has 2 ports, and SD slot and an audio in... is that ability retained, or ?) ETA: I see you added gps, so even when my S2 has gps, I have to install another antenna?
Great video. I do have a question. i did an update with my ford escape from sync 2 to sync 3. everything works great but the radio control on my steeling wheel does not work anymore and it is driving me nuts. Any Suggestions ??
You videos are great! The Forscan really helped me out. I do have an issue and I don’t know if you can help. I did the same upgrade that you did from Sync 2 Sync 3. I gave them my VIN and half of the features work and half do not. For example, non of my climate controls are working through the screen. Is there something I can change in the APIM? I did not see anything. Also, my steering wheel controls or heated and ventilated seats are also not working. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks and keep up with the videos!

You are gonna love it. I did SYNC2 to SYNC3 in my 2016 Fusion. Best upgrade I ever did to it.

My 2015 xlt doesn’t have navigation on the Sync 2 system. With this upgrade will I be able to use navigation as long as i get the SD card?
How does the GPS work? Isn't that extra wire to run it up to the antenna pod on the roof?
No. There is a gps antenna with it. The pod is for stereo and satellite radio

Yes. I put mine under the center speaker when I went from no GPS to GPS.
I just don't like how slow and clunky the response is on these Fords. My Dodge is snappy.

No. Thats a separate module you need to purchase and install

There may be a setting you need to change in one of the modules. I would research and use Forscan to make the necessary change

Forscan can fix all of those issues. Just need to find them. They are in the APIM
