Do you know if there’s Grazon (a herbicide) in most of the commercial alfalfa hay’s? Thanks!

It might be used on some fields depending on the particular weed pressure that the farmer may be facing.

Thanks for the video. I’m not on any pasture just wondering what ration you’d suggest of grass to alfalfa. Looking to pickup some yearlings and feed them out. Do you do 50/50 the whole time? Any info would be great. First timer here.

Cattle will eat just about anything you give them, but they gobble up alfalfa. 50/50 is a safe bet for just about any cattle.

We lived in California 16 years ago and loved alfalfa fed beef. We raised a few of our own. We moved to Fayetteville Arkansas and I haven’t been able to get a steak that tastes good as they don’t feed alfalfa here. Is there a market in California that will ship some alfalfa fed beef to me in Arkansas. Gosh I’d love some great tasting beef.

Do you finish your cattle on grass/alfalfa? If so what is your alfalfa ration? Thanks.

yessir! everything is grass fed/grass finished. We feed about 50% grass and 50% alfalfa

Most of our beef here is grass fed(grazing), but for finishing it’s sent to feed lots who use corn and soybeans, which screws up the Omega 3 to Omega 9 ratios, making it much worse for the heart.
One farmer here is finishing with alfapha and wheat. What does the wheat do to the Omega 3 to Omega 9 ratios? Would it still be considered “grass finished”?
