Criterion has released the definitive Albert Lamorisse Collection: "The Red Balloon and Other Stories"
These "Five Films by Albert Lamorisse" give us newly remastered versions from the original negatives of his five most beloved works, including a pristine version of "Bim, The Little Donkey" in its original 54-minute French edition. Before this, the film was almost impossible to see in the US and then only in bad VHS transfers of its shorter English dub. We are really seeing this early work of the artist for the first time, courtesy of The Criterion Collection and Pascal Lamorisse, who worked together to get us the best possible experience of his father's classic films.
