- Do they still suck? Did they ever suck? Limp Bizkit were one of the biggest bands of the 00s and their hit Rollin' was HUGE!! What was it about this song and this band at that time? Is this song even good? Please, let me know in the comments if you're a Limp Bizkit fan and why you think this song was big?

This song is best used on a coworker named Roland (if you have one), typically when they just get to work. "It's ROLAND, ROLAND, ROLAND, ROLAND, YEAH!" They will never tire of it.
Yes, I actually had a coworker name Ronan when this song came out. Everyone at work would say keep Ronan, Ronan, Ronan, every time he walked in. I’m sure Ronan hated it very much 😊
Only a narcissist needs to hear their own name again, and again.
Lmao. Ill never hear it any other way again. 😂
@@le_th_ Better to keep a narcissist happy than pissed off, right?
Also, what is even the context of your comment?!? U a bot?
Nononono, this is clearly the song to play to yours and your co-worker Roland's boss when you hear rumours of Roland being about to be laid off, but you think he's actually doing his job well: "Keep ROLAND ROLAND ROLAND ROLAND on, keep ROLAND ROLAND ROLAND ROLAND, come on!!"
Justin Hawkins is 35% Monty Python, 5% James Bond, 20% Dudley Moore, 40% Rockstar and 100% hilarious 😆.

@@buybitcoin6089 haha my thoughts exactly
I loved Limp Bizkit in high school and I'll still listen to them occasionally today. Most of their music is as simple as this; turn up loud, forget about your worries, yell some fun lyrics. On a serious note, any band that lives in the "we don't fucking care about anything" space will always find some popularity with youth who also don't really give a fuck about anything.
Bizkit is such a legendary fucking group-groundbreaking, really. It's a damn shame they're on the receiving end of so much vitriol from anti-fun mega-losers who wouldn't know a good time if it were a chainsaw that skinned their ass raw.
@@jesserobitaille
You're obviously easily impressed.
I feel Justin’s pain forcing his way through this horrible, god awful hot garbage.
@@jesserobitaille What exactly is groundbreaking about their music???
Well said Brandon, I think you hit the nail on the head.
Justin's reaction at 10:39 is priceless. It is like going to a fancy restaurant with your friends and there is always one person in the group who does something embarrassing and you don't want to say something but your hands instinctively go to your head in shame.
They get bashed all the time but sooo many people forget that they were ridiculously popular and not just on the "pop rock" charts. Lots of folks enjoyed turning them up loud and rocking to it. It's not life changing lyrics that make ya ponder the human condition but they definitely drop a beat you can get energized to.
Hell yeah, this was daytime radio at some point! 😄
Limp Bizkit have an incredibly tight rhythm section. Especially John Otto, I really enjoy his drumming. He knows when to place the kick drum, lots of little double strokes all over. Something about his playing is just so insanely groovy, he's laid back and energetic at the same time. Awesome stuff.
Ive seen every band from morbid angel, to ST
To slayer
You name it.
Limp Bizkit blew them off the stage, in terms of the crowd.
Insane band.
Love Justin,
But he is weird on this one, very snobby

Justin basically says this...
This is hands down the single greatest analysis of Limp Bizkit ever. Ironically it makes me appreciate LB even more than I did in my childhood.
And obviously my appreciation for Sir Hawkins also grows with each video. Continue the glorious work Justin 🤘👍
Have you seen the Your Favorite Band Sucks podcast do "Break Stuff"? Spoiler: They loved it.
Justin is the Bob Ross of rock and roll. I could watch these videos every day. Haha.
LOL the pain on your face at 7.50 :D
Limp Bizkit spoken with a British accent is just amazing
One of the reasons why they and nu metal were big was because it was nice to hear a metal band with a strong bass presence.
I've always liked Limp Bizkit, Chocolate Starfish is a banger of an album.

Love Justin’s analysis. You can just tell how hard it is for him to get through the song. His sarcasm is awesome 😂

Justin you’re hysterical and brilliant. Please tour the states
It was the era of teenage angst and it's the audience they targeted and successfully captured simple feelings, simple lyrics and a good beat, at that age I was all about it and nostalgia keeps us listening.
I once played a show on tour and the venue had a giant projected screen behind us on the stage, we requested this video be played on silent throughout our entire set. Good stuff
That face palm moment 😂
I was in my late 20s when LB gained popularity. They had some catchy songs but they were that band you didn't admit to your friends you liked.
But... here I am now in my 50s and when Break Stuff comes up in my mix I STILL crank it up. 🤘❤️
dunno what you mean. i'm 33 years old, also grew up on limp bizkit and have 0 shame talking about it
Break Stuff is their only good song.
Wow the parallels here with TJ are scary regarding me. I just turned 56 and have gotten into stuff like Accept and LB (way different Jandra's) more than I did in the 80s. 🤔
Just goes to show we may still have our baselines in music we like, but the leaves on the music tree evolve and change with age.
@forzaazzurri101 you're the same age as my daughter... so yeah it was different for her to like them versus me as an adult at the time admitting I liked them. I was a Metallica and metal fan, it was definitely not cool to like LB. 🤣
@@tjanderson6561 can i be real with you? No one should influence you to like music. it doesn't matter if your friends think something is cool, if you like the music then like it. my favorite band was tool, but i also liked limp bizkit. who cares?
Gosh I really am enjoying this series of videos very much indeed! Great job Justin! 👌
"little DJ Lethal!" the hidden track with stiller at the end of the album is gold!! The album before this was good, 'Rearranged' is such an amazing track. One of the best bass lines in history. Never thought it would say that 😂
Rearranged is such a good song.

You are so clever and funny. I laughed so hard watching this video. Love your channel and congrats on its continual growth.
Justin you are truly a treasure. These episodes are quite a gift to all of us. So much fun and perspective. 👏👏👏
Full disclosure: Limp Bizkit was always my guilty pleasure, and once I hit my 30s I started to fully embrace my inner weirdo. They toured earlier this year and came to a town 20 minutes from me so I figured BUCKET LIST let's get tickets. MY DUDES - it was the best show I've ever been to. Super chill, super fun, full of love and understanding. They're good fuckin guys.
Came up at turn of the century too. LB just crosses the line of cringe that I'll allow. I think Korn was my limit when it came to guilty pleasures even back then 😅. I am gonna see ratm at Madison Square garden in couple weeks so I'm not immune to nostalgia. Though to even compare these bands...
Saw them 3 years ago in Quebec city and the show was awesome. The energy was insane.
Good on you. Don't let other people's ideas of who or what is cool gatekeep your happiness.
@@beefsupreme694 well then you probably hate Karnivool
I think they were everyone’s guilt pleasure. Never been to a festival where anyone was willing to skip LB. I’ve seen them invigorate crowds more than the headlining bands playing 5 hours after them
Justin I have to admit I’d never heard of ‘the darkness’ until I stumbled across your channel. I been digging it, but dude I love your takes on happenings in music. Keep it up ✌️❤️😊
Yeah. Cus they made ONE HIT. Fred Durst made multiple of which Justin should take heed to some of the lyrics...
"I know why you wanna hate me..." [TAKE A LOOK AROUND]
"You think your special, when you look down on me." [MY WAY]
And guaranteed you've heard both those songs. Because they're catchy enough to get high in the charts unlike 99% of the Darkness.
@@AnonYmous-ez4es have you listened to their albums? The darkness has a lot of awesome songs. Sure they never made anything as popular as I believe in a thing called love but how do you top that
@@AnonYmous-ez4es the darkness is not the kind of band that makes songs that are cool now but shitty tomorrow. they're classic makers. you may not dig it now but you'll dig it someday.. Limp Bizkit meanwhile made songs that are forgettable as fuck after it wore out on people.

Justin, loving these videos. I’ve always loved the mix of humor and lack of pretentiousness surrounding The Darkness. Glad to see you’re well.
What you didn't mention is just how tight their drummer is and his sound is also immense!
"I expect at least one of them is a really good golfer."

I was a teen back in the day and bought the album after hearing the 'numetal' rework of the mission impossible song on the radio. I loved it, it was no substance but pure hype!
Wes Borlands guitar work is in my opinion underrated as fuck. It's like a mix of the Edge from u2. Adam Jones of tool. And a bit of Mark Tremonti of Alterbridge/Creed . Always loved his work.
Wes Borland absolutely doesn’t get enough credit
He also did post rock before it was popular ;p
All the instrumentalists in Limp Bizkit were actually really proficient at what they did. Fred obviously was not a great singer, but he was very charismatic so as a front man, he nailed that.

Break Stuff is a great LB song. Lots of celebrity cameos in that video too.

It's the ONLY good LB song, but it's very, very good.
My favourite LB song: BOILER!
It has well written lyrics and depth, makes you think ... not a typical radio song. I find it is one of the few exceptions in LB's discography. In other words, that's a really awesome song!

"It's like criticizing somebody's sandwich that they've made that afternoon."

I remember this video won "Best Rock Video" at the MTV VMAs in 2001. I read that the band received a letter from the World Trade Center thanking them for featuring the Twin Towers in their video. The next day, the WTC was destroyed on 9/11.
After receiving the highest honor of a VMA for limp bizkit rocking on top of them, they really couldn't look forward to anything anywhere near as cool happening ever again, it's all downhill from there. It's like yeah we might as well go out with a bang. Makes sense to just destroy them.
It's a little known fact, but declassified documents show that most of the structural damage that brought the towers down had already been done by the totally sick and dope limpbizkit performance on the rooftop some months prior to 9/11.
Damn. Gotta watch that vid now.

I was 15 when this came out, was just getting into music and absolutely loved it. But I agree with everything you've said 😂 I still have a lot of nostalgic love for Chocolate Starfish but honestly, my favourite album is their debut. It's raw, very well produced (but not over-produced) and much more chaotic than their "pop" efforts. Haven't heard the new album, I refuse to buy digital. CD or nothing.
Limp Bizkit is, and always has been, a band to allow people to disengage their brains and listen to an actually quite unique mish-mash of metal, trip-hop and rap
Dumb lyrics, fun hooks, and zero ego regarding musical integrity.
This.
I agree with what you said. But where's the Trip Hop? Please point on the doll where trip-hop occurred 😁😁
you summarized everything we all think of their music. Their are genius in their own world
If you callin deez lyrikz dumb you'll get knocked da fuqout
I think trip-hop's more your Hooverphobics, your Morcheebas, your DJ Shadows.
“Oh why did I do that?” Lol…. This is such a great response video. Love it
My god this is genuinely brilliant. What a gem of internet content.
The Audioslave video was for "Cochise". Lots of fireworks were set off in its making.
Limp Bizkit is like the McDonald's of metal; cheap and easily consumed with no discernible value that leaves you feeling shitty once imbibed.
Who doesn't love a cheeky Maccies once in a while though? ;)
Fast Food Music for 15 years old baby metalheads… 😂😂😄
I agree with all of that except for the "it makes you feel shitty" part. If it made their listeners feel shitty, they would have no fans. Music is a lot more subjective than food. With food, you obviously get what you pay for, but the quality of music is much more subjective. But, I suppose you could argue that it's cheap, because of the lack of emotional depth.
@@bigballz4u it makes me feel good to be energized by the music and jump around and scream cuss words so I fully agree.
I wouldnt compare them to fast food, they have some pretty good stuff...and só does fast food ah 🤔
Limp bizkit as a teen was pure adrenaline and head banging, some awesome riffs tbf

There were two versions of this song put out, both on the album and the other version was the b-side also. This is the air raid vehicle version, but there was also the Urban Assault Vehicle version later in the album which I always preferred, and it was a collaboration with some members of Wu-Tang Clan and it was great

This band is my guilty pleasure. I stopped trying to memorise the lyrics as I get older because they're just vapid anyway. I just think Fred's vocal is just another instrument to the catchy music, esp the bombastic riff Wes always does. That makes him more bearable 😂
They do actually have very lyrical songs that have deeper meaning but this was a party single for touring. Listen to "The One" from the same album or Hold On, Underneath The Gun, Let Me Down to name a few.

The irony of Justin pointing out that Fred Durst must be up to no good because he's wearing his hat 'the wrong way round' while simultaneously doing it himself is the smart humour I've come to expect on this channel.
His folk albumn "Abby Crunch" is a lost gem, he tours the ruins of the dilapidated Abby Crunch factory with a handheld tape recorder and piccolo surviving on moulded scraps working himself into a hallucinatory fugue state in which he transcends the boundaries of what it means to be limp, up there with Nick Cakes Pink Elevensies
Amazing.
Justin, your commentary is absolutely hilarious in this one, Love it! I was cackling! ! I love watching your refined well spoken demeanor & accent (along with exceptional musical talent) to this trailer-trash stuff (though I admittedly really like Limp Bizkit) I think Wes Borland's guitar style is awesome and he has some really unique often subtle riffs throughout their catalogue that are just so good like on Re-arranged or Gold Cobra. Rollin' is admittedly absurd haha
This might just be my favorite music related video on CZcams.
Can you tell I'm pretending I've never seen this video before....that guitar riffis killer...I always like it when riffs change notes after 3 or 5 strikes gives a polyrhythmic and groovy feel
Wes Borland is the best thing about limp Bizkit imo
I never bought their album but for me they represented a moment in my past. I was a 20 something going to blast off in Wolverhampton. On the best nights they had Brit pop in the main room, northern soul in the back room and corrosion downstairs, pushing the heavy metal and everything else kicking it in the US at the time. I remember this song coming on and me and my mates rolling it through the crowd. Good times.

Also, some of the nicest guys I've ever met too
Should have no shame in what you like….. not a big fan of theirs…..I like only a few songs…… don’t understand the hate for the band….. they sold a lot of albums and had sold out tours…..
I saw Limp Bizkit at Sonisphere, Knebworth, 2014. Up to that point on the Friday it was a dead festival.
They could see that the crowd needed lifting and they absolutely delivered. After the opener everybody was bouncing!
I was with a number of seasoned metal heads and none of us could resist! I was a great, great ride.
The Prodigy headlined and there is no doubt in my mind that it would not have been anything like the same epic gig had Limp Bizkit not set the crowd up for utter abandonment beforehand. Yes it’s dumb, but that’s the point, it’s an indulgence. And I think that there are parallels there with the indulgence that the Darkness so skilfully provided as well.
This made me bust out laughing so hard 😂 I love your videos by the way.
The way you narrate the intro of the video is hysterical

Also I love that this came out when I was 16 and as giga cringe as it is I will stand proud and say this shit was the most important thing in my life back then.
