He was hired by Esterhazi (in his court) for 30 years, according to the contract he did not have any copyright. 1779 was a watershed year for Haydn, as his contract was renegotiated: whereas previously all his compositions were the property of the Esterházy family, he now was permitted to write for others and sell his work to publishers.
Gossec developed a French symphonic art, after having written his awesome Requiem well before MOzart. His style remembers somehow that of Haydn, which he knew. Gossec lived a long time and was highly prised even during the French revolution. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
