Marceline has always had a portrait depicting mother Mary and baby Jesus in her house. Either her mom raised her like that or she's using it as a way to rebel against her demonic father. Both are fun interpretations. Either Marcy's mom is a Christian/Catholic who made a baby with a demon or Marcy is using the age old tactic of putting up posters to purposely offend to her dad.
I don't know about the other characters but Simon and Marcy were alive in the 20th century so they would know about the world's religions. Fionna and Cake's world is connected to Simon.

I'm not particularly religious but it's a really cool thought that Marceline would turn to religion after the apocalypse, her mother's death, and Simons departure in order to find an outlet to make herself more comfortable with her own nature.

Fun story, apparently in the storyboards for adventure time they would straight just have the characters cures such as Finn sometimes outright saying fuck, but later when animating and voicing they’d substitute it for something else (Oh my god being Oh my glob, there are many examples) and sometime I’d love to see the voice actors come back and just re-voice one singular episode with the original storyboard curse words

I don't know about in-universe made up swears, but Fionna does say "shmaowzow" in the 3rd episode, so the slang does still exist thankfully.
