Noir Skills and Drills is a new training series I'm starting here on the channel.
I've been blessed with the opportunity to attend various training courses, but I understand that not everyone has the same ability to attend these courses like I do.
Therefore, Skills and Drills is my way of sharing the information I learn from these courses with you all.
The skills and drills featured in this series are not intended to be the ultimate guide on how to do things, but rather a means to learn different techniques that you can incorporate into your own training as you see fit.
Today's Skill & Drill is from my time at the Haley Strategic D5 Carbine Course, where the instructors break down their technique on the best stance to adopt when shooting a rifle quickly while engaging multiple targets.

As a dad with a 9-5 and can't afford to go to the range 3 days a week this helps me alot.
Look at the Mantis system. I have one, and it is great to be able to run drills similar to this at home.
How well does the dry fire training transfer when you have recoil?@@blairross3418
I have one too, so far it’s been a solid investment.
This Skills & Drills series is great! Thank you!!!
I love how Colion took all the instruction and was humble. Can't stand arrogant "shooting experts" at the local range or on YT. Thx Mr. Noir.
I learned balance and weight shifting in my martial arts training but seeing it applied to a shooting stance was fantastic. Thank you Colion!
I can't get to these training courses but I got free training from my father that was security forces in the Marine corps and it was brutal lol.
Yea marines seems the hardest imo but ive never served.
@@tacticalnewbe5745 I have not either but he has trained me over the years and he didn't take it easy on me. You don't have to serve to protect the country or family . We as country man do more shooting then they do in the military.
Learned you that Marine-fu?
@@JohnDoe-mt8rf cant agree more brother 👍
@@JohnDoe-mt8rf I can not afford the amount of ammo I burned through as an infantryman but I mostly agree. You absolutely have more free time as a civilian to train how, when and where you want though.
I'm Canadian (sadly) and I want to thank you for this. I watch a lot of videos about gun safety and training, I hope by the grace of God I can go to America and become a citizen, and have fun shooting I always practice trigger safety on the job site 😂 and practice with a 2*4 for a rifle. 😂😂 Pray for me tht God will help and give me a way to become an American citizen, thank you again for you videos!
Come on down brother and when you do become a citizen remember to vote according to the rights that you made the journey here to gain access to because there are tyrants here in government fighting hard to take our rights away from us.
At this point in Canadian history I think you should be accepted as a U.S citizen based on political asylum due to political persecution. I hope you do become an American citizen. 👍
Totally agree 👍
Come on down!
Just don't bring those bullshit Canadian politics with you, especially the anti-2A
This series is going to be amazing and so useful thank you colion
bombastic side eye 🤨criminal offensive side eye
This is a good drill cause at most ranges your told to square off your body but in fact this stand is more stable and comfortable. Thanks for this new content sharing. Looking forward to the next skills and drills.
The reason some teach a squared off stance is body armor. It is to keep the front plate towards the threat. When you're angled toward the threat, it exposes the front armhole to the threat.
@@brucestarr4438I was about to comment this, especially in MIL/LE that’s the main reason they teach this
@@brucestarr4438 I didn't even think about that. I just got my CCW in February and have been training in the stance position twice a month. But I won't be wearing body armor in public because I'm not a psychopath so I might incorporate training in this stance also. 😂😂
@@YORELEYNAK consider what stance you would use in a fist fight or boxing match. Try that the next time you go shooting. It is a natural fighting stance for most people. Even those with no training.
@@YORELEYNAK Good to hear. I figure only cops are psychopaths because they wear body armor in public.
I sometimes feel myself allowing too much body weight on my rear foot. This video definitely helped me understand the shifting of weight by bending the front knee 🤝 . Thanks brother
Good information. Always love your presentations
You are a real American hero!!!
You have no idea how excited I am, or how grateful. I am unable to go to these. Maybe some day. If there's a course or certain training drills I can watch and then replicate in what little free time I have, it helps immensely. Thank you!
Seeing YOU ask questions and taking their advice, is so reassuring. I’m really looking forward to this series. I’m not clearing buildings or rescuing hostages, but do love mag dumping fast into trash. Ready to put some of these things to the test, trash doesn’t stand a CHANCE!
Remember to recycle kids
you always have a chance to learn, no matter how much you think you know, and thats what I love about Colion he constantly learns and adapts.
In any of the training I've had on AR-15 no one has done much on stance. Im looking forward to more in this series
Hell, I never knew this myself lol
Your videos are a great learning tools and look forward to seeing the rest of the series content. Thank you Colin for what you do!
Man... this is the most informative prep skills I've really overstand.
Definitely informative and easy to incorporate into my shooting. Glad your adding this kind of information to channel.
Very informative demonstration of correct AR-15 shooting stance. Thank you!
Nothing to do with AR-15, it works for ANY firearm.
Thank God for you and all you do man. Skills and Drills are definitely a nice new touch
Keep up the good work brother stay positive
Thanks for starting these “how to” videos, I’m really looking forward to them. Luckily we have many training facilities here in Phoenix.
Also due to your video review about the DDM4V7 Pro, I recently took delivery of mine. Keep doing what your doing 👍. Thanks again.
This is a great series, cant wait to see more! Thank you
As a new firearm owner these videos are so incredibly helpful, I used to go out and shoot with my friends non of which really knew much about technique so having a resource like this to help break me of any bad habits I've picked up over the years is incredibly beneficial and i cant thank you enough!
Pretty awesome getting to see some of this one in one training. Even just watching how they work with you I think can be helpful for all of us.
Love the series idea and look forward to seeing more!
Dude, these training videos are my fav. I live on a small island which makes it very hard to train so thank you!
Outstanding vid! I really appreciate the time to go over the why behind the stance and body position.
THANK YOU for bringing us this training. Can't wait to see more.
Training with Jared Segraves is always an honor, just happy to see Colin Noir and Jared together, God Bless you both with what you do
It’s crazy because he was my middle school biology teacher
Yesss!!! I literally asked for this in the comments of your last Haley video. Thanks Colion!!!
I love this video please post more of them.
I have been shooting since I was eight years old, i’m almost 50 now and I believe I still have a lot to learn.
I think a lot of people from newbies to people such as myself could always learn from others.
Thank you for Such a great video
GBRS and Slade have been preaching this for like 4 years. Athletic stance, torso squared up, head up. It's good stuff.
love it brother, keep bringin em to us...... As military trained i find it hard to break the stuff that was directed into us.... but this helps a lot.
Just found this video, I’m an Army veteran and a new AR-15 owner, I’m really trying to learn as much as possible. You provide a lot of great information thank you.
Thank you for these videos. I learn a lot from them.
Colion......Thank you for posting this video, and for of the many others you have done. As I watched this one, it took me back 51 years when I was in Army Basic Training at Fort Ord, CA. It was when I learned how to fire a 'weapon" for the very first time. Weapons training began with learning about the functionality, maintenance and cleaning of the M16AA1. The first day at the range focused on the zeroing of our assigned weapon on paper targets. Back then we used only the good only iron sights.
After that was accomplished all our time on the range was spent in a foxhole firing from the supported position using sandbags and then unsupported firing position. Our targets were popup targets set at different distances. My challenges were learning how to fire a weapon and do it with one closed. It took a lot of" assistance" from my Drill Sargent's, but I mastered it. So as watch videos like yours and of the Army's M4 Qualification courses, a lot has changed. Just proves, that learning never stops.
I remember basic. After my "first" day training with a rifle one of the drill sergeants asked "who taught you how to shoot?" I replied "My paren... ....my drill sergeants, drill sergeant!" 😅
Great video, very informative and makes me realize that I must shoot more and seek out qualified professionals for training. Thank you Colion
Really good principles. Really good to evaluate what’s happening. Thanks!😊
Great information because I like shooting my AR-15 22LR. I will be using the technique in the range.
Thanks for all your videos Colion, came across your channel a couple weeks ago after becoming a USCCA member, I’m a big fan, thank you, and keep up the great work!!
Beautiful training!! 💥💥💥
Colion thanks for starting this video series. This was a great start and I look forward to seeing the upcoming training videos!
These are fantastic episodes! I'm really looking forward to these going forward. The training is really great. Thank you, sir!
Dude, thanks for these. Love your content, man.
Training is everything!🙂
Great information man I love watching your vids always learn something new!👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very valuable video. Excellent demonstration of the importance of "footwork" in shooting - just like every other action event.
This is an amazing series and I am excited to see where this is going! Thank you sir!
training tips are great. will try very hard to do better myself. thank you.
I enjoyed this content and the method of delivery. The instructors were very down to Earth as well.
Good video Colion. It shows that even a shooter as good as you can improve with learning small things. Practice, practice more then practice again
Great video, I just fired my first AR over the weekend and wish I had watched this sooner. There was no rapid fire at the range but even so I felt like I had to readjust after every shot. Will definitely take all this info into consideration for next time. 💪
I enjoyed this video. It was very instructive. I have a long road ahead of me but knowing the info about stance helps. Thank you.
Great video! Great information in this one. I look forward to more of your Skills & Drills series!
What an eye opener! More skills and drills! Keep ‘em coming!!
Really liked your skills and Drills segments. Like you said I can alway get to a class to train but I can get to a range and work on some skills to better myself. Thanks.
really appreciate it man its help everyone trying to learn easily
I plan on using these videos as best I can. Thank you so much. I'd love to go to something like that, and thanks to you I sorta can.
Good stuff man keep it coming. Its always nice seeing someone being receptive instead of being an elitist acting like they know best
Thanks for sharing this training knowledge, I too learned the importance of the stance setup.
Thank you sir! I will keep enjoying your content! I was following along with my Mark18!
I'm happy they taught you how to count. I wish my teachers taught me this way back in school.
Great stuff! 🇺🇸 2A
Yeah I definitely need to work on my stance too. Can't wait to try it this way.
I wish they had taught us these kind of techniques in the Army. I was a Combat Engineer (12B), and it was always disappointing how little range time we actually got. Most of the shooting we did was from the pone, foxhole, or kneeling positions. We did do a little CQB training a couple times a year, but never any rifle drills like this. Thanks for the great video!
I will eagerly await the videos in this series! I want to see you do this drill at 100yds, and show the grouping. That should be interesting.
Great drill. For me I’ve found that turning my back right foot/toe a little more straight facing vs. the 2:00 o’clock position helps me stay forward. Locking my knee and tightening my right calf helps control recoil.
I’m glad Colion is getting training because we all know he needs it & so do so many others. Watch as many gun tutorials as you can if you’re poor or don’t have time & just practice at home with dummy rounds. Muscle memory & gun manipulations should be so ingrained in you that you don’t even think about it, it just comes naturally so you can focus on the target(s) & getting good follow up shots.
At first I'm like "15 minutes on how to stand with a gun" but it completely makes sense now. This is DEEP💯🔥great info
Love this bro, thanks!
This was a very informative video it gives me something to work on him with my disability thanks a lot I appreciate the work that you do keep it up brother of us
Thanks brother for passing on the knowledge you are learning!
that last one was so cool, you make me go shoot my AR on the daily with videos like this.
Great video, going to use these tips in my training. Just got into AR15's and they're more comfortable to shoot than my pistols. This will help a lot, thanks
Tremendous video. Its loaded with information.
Dear Mr
I’m watching your videos and Hickok 45 make me how great USA this country.
We have a FREEDOM to enjoy life and great outdoor sports..
I’m watching videos and training with my gun and be responsible owner and enjoy great videos with you guys..
im blessed to live this GREAT COUNTRY.
God bless
Thank you very much for your time .
Man this is so nice. Had me smiling watching you bro. Good job. I hope one day I can train with you.
thanks for the refresher. I can work on it after my next knee replacement, in 6 weeks.
Give me a reward for getting through all this.😂😂😂😂
RANGE DAY!!!
Liam is a machine. Holy cow
heck yeah, im pumped for this series.
Thanks! Just getting into drills, to be more competent in the handling and manipulation.
Phenomenal idea for a video series. Can’t wait for more
I’m going to try this stance it all made good sense thank you 😊
Excited for new series. Can’t wait to try this at the range
Excellent observation about the weight being on your toes. Excellent training tips!
Looking forward to putting this in. Good exercise to practice. Thank you for the videos you make.
Awesome tips and tid bits. Thanks for all you do . Hope to train with this soon.
Thanks for the tips and tricks! Going to run through some of them on the flat range now.(backyard)
I usually just rely on my Army training while in the 1/75 RANGER BN. and 1/509ABCT. This is one of the stances we used.
and what stance did they teach you for shooting while moving drills (i.e. room clearing) ?
@@cjohnson9211 pull the pin and cook it it off and chuck the grenade....then create as small a target possible and use what cover available reach around and spray the room.
Oh, I'm going to love this series. Good looking out Colion.
In mma and self defense training, we say you never rise to the occasion but rather fall to our lowest level of training. Seems like it's the same for gun fighting.
@@mattmurphy7030 yup
Yes slot of good information that can be used by many. Keep up the great work
Awesome video! Really helpful. No rapid fire ranges close to me though. I’ll take what I can get and improvise the rest.
This is great. Looking forward to more of this series.
As one FBI Instructor(a true Patriot) taught me, if you almost imagine curling your toes to grab in to the surface, you will tend to put more forward effort into your foot. (Sounded weird but it worked.)
New to guns in general. Love your videos. Thank you!!!!
Dayummmmm… putting those rounds into those targets fast!!! Good stuff!!!
You are by far my favorite CZcamsr when it comes to firearms. Keep up the good work!
Love it!!! Thank Colion.
Love what you do Colion
Thank You for all of your work and dedication
Great video, thanks!
