Something I noticed about Sabbath and Ozzy right through their history is that they were always extremely polite to their audience.

I got into metal barely in time. I've found them 3 years ago but managed to see them twice. I'm so fucking glad I did.
But you know what? I'm more glad for the fact that I can walk on the Earth together with them. With the legends. Don't worry, you may have not seen them, but you did hear them, this is the thing that matters.
I started getting into Sabbath the same week they played their final show but didn’t know they were through until almost a year later.

We will miss you, Black Sabbath. The world wouldn't know what Metal is without you. If Tony didn't make his sound bigger to fill in for the chords he couldn't play, we wouldn't have Metal. If Ozzy didn't send out the ad for a blues rock gig, we wouldn't have Metal. If Geezer didn't switch from Rhythm guitar to bass, We wouldn't have Metal. If Bill didn't buy a drum set, we wouldn't have Metal. Thank you again for showing us what Metal is, guys. We will all miss you.
the most underrated comment so far
And the best comment award goes to..,
Yeah, just a lot of happy coincidences that resulted in the formation of the Metal pioneers! I went to their farewell concert in Brisbane and had a fantastic time. The video guys were unbelievably good. If you watched the big screen behind the band it was like watching a full-on music video! And Black Sabbath themselves were in form and on song. I sat there thinking: What the hell? They're as good as they've ever been!! At least they're going out on a high note. Speaking of high notes . . The guitar and bass were tuned down to C#, to accommodate Ozzy's declining vocal range I suppose. That lower tuning made everything sound magnificently heavy. Ozzy was yelling between songs for the audience to "really go fucking crazy in this next song" . . and all us 60-somethings were in our seats saying, "Yeah, right-o mate".
I mean I totally get your comment but I think Metal sound would have eventually born anyways. There were other bands intensifying their rock sound at that time.
Uga Buga
They are 70 years old but still sound as good as they did 50 years ago.

Black Sabbath created the metal world that we have the pleasure and the honor to live in.
Every goddamn metalhead of today should know who Black Sabbath are and how much they contributed to the music industry overall. For me, they are and always will be the GREATEST METAL BAND OF ALL-TIME!
It's sad that they had to disband, but, considering their age, it was the right thing to do.
Thank you, Black Sabbath, for all these decades upon decades of music that will forever live in the hearts of all metalheads across the globe. The fact that your greatest single "Paranoid" was the closer for your very last gig together, makes it the perfect ending to a historical day! If only Bill Ward and Ozzy put their differences aside, you could've made this very last day at the office, the most memorable day of your and your fans' lives.
R.I.P. Black Sabbath - (1968 - 2017) \m/
As the video says that introduces the end tour. The greatest heavy metal band ever, as you said also. There is no debate. I saw Sabbath on this tour and seen Mr. Osbourne live. Its a honor they gave us the music that will live forever
I always thought about them more like about a hard rock band.
I don't know about you man but Sabbath always was a Heavy Metal band (they started playing Metal when they changed their name to Black Sabbath), and just because the Metal culture didn't exist during Sabbath's time doesn't mean they weren't playing Metal music because they were, and they weren't even aware of it! They may have not accepted their Metal label but it's true that what they were doing was Metal, and they inspired NUMEROUS Metal bands to come!

"Thank you for my life," that's what all of this is in the end, man. Music - rock n roll in particular - there's just nothing like it and what it means to musicians years down the road once all is said and done in the careers. Some make it big, some don't. But, for those who have a burning passion for music, a musical career of any kind is one to cherish. I can tell you now, there's no other musical career like the one of Black Sabbath. Nobody like them, never has been, never EVER will be. God bless Black Sabbath.
Phil Rangel agreed 100%
yep, they went through a lot, I think they are so underrated. They are at the same level with The Beatles and Queen.
@ I was prepared to be pissed because you said they were underrated, but if you think a little, they're a little bit underrated. Many people just say that they are the heavy metal gods, but not many appreciate them as they really are, knowing only songs like Paranoid, Iron Man and War Pigs, when in reality, they'remuch more than this, they are the true rock gods and literally, and I mean *literally*, there will never be anyone as great as them.

It's so odd how Ozzy can sing the lyrics so well despite him not being able to talk properly anymore
His thank you to the fans at the end of the song, though, was pretty clear.
Imgonnagoeataburrito
I love how clear his dialogue is in Brütal Legend.
I guess if he can see the microphone, he remembers to annunciate.
I believe its because a brain uses a different part to sing than to talk
My guess is that when you sing, the syllables of the words are in sync with the beat of the music, so it's easier to get through a "sentence" without making it sound like nonsense. That's probably the reason why my stutter doesn't affect my singing as well
i cry everytime i see this

Man Im so bummed I never got to see them.. Black Sabbath is one of the most enduring and prolific rock and roll bands of all the genre's history. Their sound doesn't feel old to me, it's a very dark and rebellious sound that speaks to many people worldwide, and influenced SO many bands that followed them. Without Tony Iommi, we would never know the true definition of "heavy"
Hands down the best live band. Many bands are about seeing the band live and the experience. Not Black Sabbath. The sound was always perfect, each note carefuly crafted to sound perfect, Tony constantly messing with his amps and volume knobs. One of the few bands where the live albums almost sound better. Loud AF too. And Geezer bass felt like being punched in the chest sometimes.

It still amazes that Paranoid is by all measure, one of the great metal songs of all time, yet it was just a filler song Black Sabbath came up with to fill in 3 minutes of album space.
