My only gripe was that the puzzle would accept a cenobite as a sacrifice. Aside from that, easily the best Hellraiser since the early 90s for sure. This was a very pleasant surprise and I hope they give us more... either movie or even a comic or another book. The Scarlet Gospels was awesome and I eagerly wait for another
My take on this is that they make the rules and so they can bend them if someone impresses them. Cutting the Chatterer is a bold idea and certainly better than running away.
I loved the first ones. Agreed that the rest after bloodline were terrible. This one was great on it's own, so I'm excited to see if they do more. It was a good thing she didn't resurrect her brother, since he would have come back like how Frank did. I can’t remember if he stated he tried to kill himself in his villain speech but that’s definitely determination to endure that type of pain for years & still work towards another personal end goal of his.

I can definitely see the hellraiser series work well if each movie is about a group of people that the audience can connect with, enjoy watching, etc with a new group everytime, new setting, always a fresh start somewhere in the world or pick off where it last was.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this movie. The Cenobite sfx was incredible and well thought out, I couldn't stop looking at them. I was particularly intrigued with the pregnant Cenobite. Like, what was going on with that woman that led her to that kind of fate. I seriously hope they make a sequel and maybe explore their hell and more into the Cenobites.
While not my favourite Hellraiser movie. This one was better than I expected. Loved the SFX makeup instead of the bondage gear. Would love to see you do a timeline video for the Hellraiser films like you did for Saw, The Grudge & Paranormal Activity franchises.
I don't think they were really trying something different with pinhead, it's just because pinhead is a female in the hellhound heart, the book that Clive Barker wrote and based the original film on. But this is a very good hellraiser movie and I loved the cenobites designs and how they actually showed what happens to people when they get taken by them. I loved it.
@@VainGrimm pinhead was female in the hellhound heart, that doesn't make sense. Unless you mean the pinhead in this film is supposed to be Kirstie turned into a cenobite.

Hey just wanted to say im a huge fan!!!! Your literally the reason i have such a vast knowledge of movies. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Peace out
I loved the new Hellraiser. I was pleasantly surprised with the female pinhead. Expert acting. I think Doug Bradley is definitely up there still but the Hell Priestesses character was disturbingly devoid of emotion. No joy in seeing people suffer, no taunting, nothing. You can't read her at all and that to me is so much more terrifying than the Hell Priest. I love how she is a temptress that initially makes you feel like she has some justice inside, dealing with the protagonist and promising the resurrection of her brother. But pinhead is ultimately deceiving in nature and uses her motherly trust to ensnare her victims with false promises. Absolutely amazing.
Your idea about her being a temptress is interesting cause if you look in the books the billionaire was totally obsessed with her (them?) In particular
Well, not false promises... It's just that they are vague promises. She gave the billionaire the gift of sensation and power, and she would've brought her brother back. It's just that it all comes with pain.
one of the only movies i actually watched before watching your video on it XD i loved it! I hope theres some good continuations like the couple beginning ones! :D
Good advert, quick, thoughtful and explains the product. It's rare these days I'm not immediately infuriated to the point of swearing off a brands products for several generations, so good job dude!
As great as it would have been to get the brother back in the end, she made the right choice. Who knows what they actually would have given her wearing his face. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I'd rate it in the top five or higher of the entire franchise.
i agree but this why i didnt like the ending because its supposed to be a hellraiser ending meaning there is no good choice it should be the scariest ending with everyone dying . they made it too pg 13
Pinhead being a woman was actually a callback to the book the the first Hellraiser was based on. "The Hellbound Heart." In the book the Cenobite's leader was also female. But if you reach a point you are calling on Leviathan to end your boredom I don't think you tried hard enough to find other distractions. I mean there is endless configurations of psychedelic drugs to try, cannibal orgies, ritual branding, or maybe just macrame or a bowling league. I'm just saying there are more things to try before Faustian bargains with self mutilating demon priests.
I'm wondering if there's a gift that the cenobites can give to someone that's actually good. Are all their gifts "tainted" like Roland says, or do you just have to want the "right" thing? Roland wanted to feel sensation, but his wish backfired because the cenobites don't see a difference between pain and pleasure. I'm sure if Riley wished to see her brother, the cenobites would just take her to hell or whatever. But these particular needs can be interpreted by the cenobites in a pretty obviously painful or deadly way. But could there be ways to get a reward that's actually good?
If there is, it would have to be something so simple and benign that it couldn't possibly be twisted, which would make the whole "wish" part a moot point. Or something so unexpected that the Cenobites would say "let's see where this goes." I imagine asking for a second Lament Configuration would be something they'd be cool with, if that's even possible
That's a interesting take, honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing what they'd do with a concept like that. Provided the protagonist(s) are able to live long enough to explore it that is. Like you said, they aren't really asking in a specific way, unless I missed a something throughout the films, I haven't seen all the sequels.
I loved the configurations and the redesign of the cenobites, as well as the acting and set design. The only thing I really didn't like was some story stuff. The character decisions didn't make a lot of sense. A lot of times Trevor is doing things like stealing the box or trying to convince Riley to leave the nursing home before they learn anything useful that completely sabotage his ultimate goal of getting her to complete the configurations. Even simple things like why the victim in the beginning goes where he does and does what he does. A lot of times I just found myself asking "but why?" As it felt like the characters were just doing what the script told them to do rather than their decisions being based on what their characters would actually want.
Wasn't Joey a s*x worker? I thought he was told to see Roland bc he was going to exchange services for $. I think that's why he was there in the first place, he was "invited" (paid to come) as a sacrifice. Riley later says one of the victims was a s*x worker.
I felt like he either knew how to manipulate her, like tell someone not to do something to make them more determined, or he realised just HOW bad it was getting and wanted out. Honestly if someone told you what would happen with that box would you believe them until you saw it?
@@TheJackmilla and some people are just super sceptical. I’ve seen some people do the Bloody Mary thing without even flinching. Sociopaths the lot of them 😂

And that's what a mini existential crisis is like, kids. nbd. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
The one thing i'm not sure i agree with is that i don't believe this is a female pinhead. I think the idea is that pinhead is now something truly androgynous, like he was always meant to be, and an actress could accomplish it very well.
Plus, it fixes something very basic about this franchise that's been needing an update desperately for quite some time. In the old version, unless you were an amoral hedonist with limitless money then you weren't very likely to run across the box at any point. But while the original's underlying source of horror was essentially "non-standard sex exists, ewww! i don't know how they got into it, or what they enjoy about it!" This remake makes it analogous to addiction. Once you're cut by your addiction, you will either cause yourself or those around you pain. And the only way out of it is to learn to live with the pain and sadness that you've both caused and experienced. That both can and does happen to anyone.
I think it is bc he is mostly explaining what happens without showing too much, watching the movie is different to hearing what happens, he does get copyright strikes but he can just remove the scenes in the video or just replace them with an image
Finally FoundFlix is covering hell raiser 2022! Let's all get ready to huddle around the campfire while he tells us our spooky story which i really liked this 1!

Well, Dead Meat is helping with one at the very least

Why would that be the case.
Being able to explain the plot of a horror movie does not make one capable of creating a horror movie…
Only if Foundflux could be the quirky killer!
I've always wondered, what do the Cenobites do in between the Lament Box being used. Do they sit in a backroom having tea/coffee and a few smokes? Or do they also perform other duties? Sorry for the weird question.
Great video as always.
Torture victims they kidnapped like that one van girl.
@Ty direct That brings up an interesting question about the amount of Lament Puzzles out there in different dimensions? Very interesting.
@@ABUBBA22 True, but ti is still linked to someone using the box. If the box is hidden locked away for years...?
@@antonalberts9230 you are assuming that time moves the same way in their dimension and ours. So years for us could be an hour to them. Also they are skilled at keeping torture victims alive for a long time. So they got bodies to play around with in the meantime. Also there is the possibility of other dimensions and puzzle boxes out there too.
Remember, the puzzle box is basically a pager that buzzes them. We have no idea how expansive their dimension actually is.
@@ABUBBA22 very true.
Loved the cenobites in this movie. Really wasn’t into the “tag you’re it” aspect of the box now though. Really hope for a sequel! It was awesome seeing Hellraiser actually having money behind it

Right that’s what confuses me why did frank die when he did the box but not her
I know it's silly to ponder, but it still bothers me...
After having the device that pulled his nerves around shoved through his body, there's a scene showing him shirtless trying to remove the device. How the HELL did Roland manage to get both his button down shirt AND suit jacket back on? The damn thing is sticking out of both sides of him! 🤔🧐😆
He could've fit them through the holes in the shirts
Editing mistakes I guess
i mean he could have, but WHY. just leave your damn shirt off, damn
Seems like they did a good job at leaving writing room for sequels. Decent reboot.
Joey’s screams in the beginning were so chilling, it was probably one of my favorite parts
When she chose the Lement Configuration, Pinhead seemed genuinely suprised.
10:09 wasn't there a line in the original that was something like "angels to some, devils to others". Something every sequel has missed and made cenobites just slashers
Watching this as someone trying to recover from pills(Ik she doin them percs) this makes me realize how irregular my habits are and how deep I’ve gone. I realized this when he said she’s dumb for swallowing ground pills when I thought she was dumb for dumping them and smart for picking them back up. Life sucks

Not much of a horror movie fan, but your vids definitely make them a whole lot more enjoyable
My only gripe was that the puzzle would accept a cenobite as a sacrifice. Aside from that, easily the best Hellraiser since the early 90s for sure. This was a very pleasant surprise and I hope they give us more... either movie or even a comic or another book. The Scarlet Gospels was awesome and I eagerly wait for another
Can you explain why the puzzle box shouldn't accept a cenobite sacrifice? Not trying to argue, I'm just new to the franchise
@@2014wolfy Eh? Why make something capable of basically killing your own people?
My take on this is that they make the rules and so they can bend them if someone impresses them. Cutting the Chatterer is a bold idea and certainly better than running away.
@@Meretneith yeah I think if they had tried to do that again the priest wouldn’t have accepted it. Like a one time wild card for smartness
@@Pippa87 They probably will though. They might be fucked up they do have rules and adhere to them lol
I loved the first ones. Agreed that the rest after bloodline were terrible. This one was great on it's own, so I'm excited to see if they do more. It was a good thing she didn't resurrect her brother, since he would have come back like how Frank did. I think the most intriguing cenobite is the pregnant one; unfortunately we only got to see that one for a moment. Other than that, the cenobites designs were pretty nice.
Feel If her bro came back he wouldn't be himself but worse. I think Riley will probably make better life choices going forward after having to fend for her life as well as others around her although. I like how easy it was to figure out what's happening with the box because the old ones got confusing to me as I tried to binge watch them to check this one out.
Most definitely enjoyed Hulu hellraiser alot,!
I loved that the flesh was the leather for the cenobites. The Chatterer looked vicious
I’m a HUGE hellraiser fan and now I feel like nothing can beat the original two, I feel this one was pretty decent. The story was ok, the outfits were cool, I hope they make another ❤

Deadmeat did a podcast about it, they talked about everything basically, can really recommend it! James and Chelsey do a very good job making it entertaining

i can watch one of these about a move i dont care about and still enjoy it.
thanks man. i appreciate the content.
I just want to say I respect Roland for trying to find a “solution” to the device that was configured throughout his body instead of just killing himself. I can’t remember if he stated he tried to kill himself in his villain speech but that’s definitely determination to endure that type of pain for years & still work towards another personal end goal of his.
I think it was implied that if he tried suicide, the contraption would just paralyze him with pain, so he couldn't do it. He was begging to just die when at the mercy of Pinhead again, before she offered a trade for his "gift."
@@user-lb9xw4xf2qTechnically and I mean technically, he could have chosen Lament configuration, where he would have to live with his actions and be rid of the device in his chest. But his ego got in the way.
Or perhaps more likely even that wasnt a option since Pinhead said there is no retreat when a threshold has been crossed.
@@Greendalewitch His ego getting in the way and suddenly wanting power definitely makes the most sense after Pinhead pointed out that his pleasures are all rooted in power. His expression at the end there looks like he really thought it'd be different this time and thinks he's actually gonna get nice powers (without the usual cenobite catch) before getting stabbed through his chest again lol

I really enjoyed this one so I was nervously waiting through the intro to find out if this movie got the Foundflix seal of approval. And...Yesssss!!!
I can definitely see the hellraiser series work well if each movie is about a group of people that the audience can connect with, enjoy watching, etc with a new group everytime, new setting, always a fresh start somewhere in the world or pick off where it last was.
Would become a bit formulaic imo if they did the same thing each movie.
I like your style, presentation skills, humour and edits...

Another great episode! And love the new haircut, by the way!
I never caught your name from any of your videos but thanks brother ya made my day
I've been waiting for you to do this one, nice.
I loved it.
The female hell priest is none other then the final girl Kirstie cotton from the hellbound heart. Did you know that?
@@VainGrimm pinhead was female in the hellhound heart, that doesn't make sense. Unless you mean the pinhead in this film is supposed to be Kirstie turned into a cenobite.
In my mind I imagine that the movie "Event Horizon" was the scientific intrusion into the foyer of the "Hellraiser" universe. There are a couple of movies that seem as they could be part of the same cinematic universe.
I like how the puzzle box has a actual goal to it, it’s the other movies it just opens and then the cenobites come out
I don’t think I’ve ever been this early to an upload. I’m excited to hear your take on this one!
No, the movie is just another woke propaganda

As great as it would have been to get the brother back in the end, she made the right choice. Who knows what they actually would have given her wearing his face. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I'd rate it in the top five or higher of the entire franchise.
i agree but this why i didnt like the ending because its supposed to be a hellraiser ending meaning there is no good choice it should be the scariest ending with everyone dying . they made it too pg 13
he probably would have ended up like Frank Cotton
Pinhead being a woman was actually a callback to the book the the first Hellraiser was based on. "The Hellbound Heart." In the book the Cenobite's leader was also female.
But if you reach a point you are calling on Leviathan to end your boredom I don't think you tried hard enough to find other distractions. I mean there is endless configurations of psychedelic drugs to try, cannibal orgies, ritual branding, or maybe just macrame or a bowling league. I'm just saying there are more things to try before Faustian bargains with self mutilating demon priests.
right? like he's super-duper rich, I don't get why he didn't just hunt people or something.
The Hell Priest in the book wasn't female, it was mutilated beyond any possibility of recognizing a gender.
For one, was never a female in the book. Second off, Pinhead isn't a woman in this film. Guess it depends on what you believe a woman is.
@@angelkingsley5299 hunting people is too basic.

This was good. Great refresh.
Hi ❤
You need to do more videos, loving your content
I'm wondering if there's a gift that the cenobites can give to someone that's actually good. Are all their gifts "tainted" like Roland says, or do you just have to want the "right" thing? Roland wanted to feel sensation, but his wish backfired because the cenobites don't see a difference between pain and pleasure. I'm sure if Riley wished to see her brother, the cenobites would just take her to hell or whatever. But these particular needs can be interpreted by the cenobites in a pretty obviously painful or deadly way. But could there be ways to get a reward that's actually good?
Sounds like S5E5 of Rick and Morty
That’s the kind of thinking that gets you bamboozled in horror movies
“We love suffering, that’s why we love hanging out with Jerry”
I liked most characters in this movie simply cuz they seemed way more human then most people in movies
Felt the same way! Really refreshing.
Haircut looks good!
You're a trip. Love your videos.
Hoping you do the entire series on the channel.
So her brother is in another dimension suffering for eternity? Isn't that how it works. They suffer forever?
ive never been this early! great vid as always flix!
Loved your review AND this reboot, honestly took me right back to the original.
That's the ultimate sin a movie can make, if it fails to make sense and just hand waves things away it takes the viewer out of the experience
@@Pippa87 If you're paranoid like me, or cautious about the unknown, then yes. A lot of sane people understand "F around and find out"

She actually canonically is female.
