I still do think it's a bit tricky to do it in Inkscape, it's less accurate than adobe Illustrator, U can get way better results using "GIMP", it's a great free software, if u don't mind having pixels than vector.
I was having problems with gaps and some rectangles not deforming leaving straight lines. What worked for me is making the rectangles overlap (a lot) and using the same tool but in growth mode first (it-s the shrink one but using shift). Then switching to the push tool used in this tutorial
Can you please help me with: When I use sculpting tool across image, the canvas shows up in spots. I have my numbers exactly like yours. I think I followed the whole tutorial exactly as you taught.
When I try this, every time I touch the shape with the tweak tool, all the nodes disappear and nothing will shift on some stripes, while others become wildly distorted. Why is it not working?
yeh, it's very tricky to get it work correctly, the sculpt tool is a bit buggy and unstable, u can go to inkscape.org they have new Inkcape version 1.1 maybe it works better I don't now, u can also report bugs as well.
When you draw the rectangles they have to overlapping each other a little bit on the side, this will help a lot, but unfortunately it doesn't work in every case, the sculpting tool needs more improvement an precision.
Great work, thanks for the inspiration, man
This deserves way more hype. Thank you so much for this
I’ve been trying for hours to get something I liked in photoshop. Turns out Once again the free software that does everything better is the answer.

u can also draw a rectangle behind the gaps, this could also help.

you never explained how to get rid of the gaps
please explain
Can you show how to also make this seamless?
Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to do that, there has to be a seamless pattern system, which Inkscape doesn't have.
When I use sculpting tool, it reveals canvas as I move tool around. Why?
