Nea Moudania is Halkidiki’s largest town with 10 thousand permanent residents who are mainly engaged in fishing and tourism. It lies 54 km south of #Thessaloniki.
Nea Moudania was built in 1922 by Greek refugees from #Asia Minor shores of #Propontis (in #Mudanya). Today, the local fish market is one of the largest in the #Mediterranean, trading tons of anchovies and #sardines.
Begin your exploration in Nea Moudania's town #center, where you'll find a lively waterfront #promenade adorned with palm trees, cafes, and #restaurants, overlooking the #Thermaikos Gulf and Mount #Olympus. Take a leisurely stroll along the #harbor, breathe in the refreshing sea breeze, and absorb the vibrant atmosphere. Visit the local #market, bustling with stalls offering fresh produce, local #delicacies, and #traditional crafts.
Τhe impressive great #church of Saint #George, with one of the largest bell towers in #Macedonia, stands out in the city’s skyline.

21 km north of Nea Moudania is located #Petralona #Cave, with stunning #stalactite and stalagmite formations and the oldest ever discovered #prehistoric #European scull.
#Olynthos was an important #ancient Greek city state, the ruins of which are situated northeast of Nea Moudania.
Nea Moudania boasts a selection of pristine Blue Flag beaches where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
