#Syvota is a coastal #village in the southern part of #Thesprotia prefecture, in western Greece. It lies 434 km northwest of #Athens, 340 km southeast of #Thessaloniki and 95 km from #Ioannina. It has a #population of almost 900 permanent #residents. At the end of the video you will find detailed #maps of the area.
Syvota town is a well-developed #resort, that owes this steadily annual growth to the numerous pristine beaches with transparent clear waters in blue, turquoise and pool colour
shades, located on the surrounding lacy shores. And definitely due to the several islets immediately offshore the picturesque port. Here you may find tropical Caribbean #fjords, that will blow your mind!
The earliest recorded inhabitants of the region are the Thesprotians, a #Greek #tribe of #Epirus. In #antiquity, here was the site of the Battle of Sybota, between #Corcyra (modern Corfu) and #Corinth. It was one of the immediate #catalysts for the P3eloponnesian War. During the Middle Ages, Syvota, like the rest of Epirus, was part of the #Byzantine Empire and the #Despotate of Epirus.
Sivota is one of the most popular seaside resorts of western mainland Greece and during the summer it gathers a lot of #tourists from both Greece and abroad. The #settlement is built amphitheatrically in a small bay in which various islets are scattered, offering unlimited views. Many #luxury #mansions are hosting #VIP guests while the visitors enjoy a relaxing stroll at the #promenade, among the fish restaurants, stylish cafes and other local #shops. A picturesque #Mediterranean image that will become a strong memory of your summer holidays.
It is the perfect stop for #sailors of the #Ionian #archipelago, nevertheless it is a must #destination for all. You may rent your own boat or take the #caique, as at a short distance from the coast you’ll find the small islands of Mavro Oros (meaning Black Mountain) Agios #Nikolaos, #Mourtemeno as well as other smaller islets. Discover your own secret coves or private shores, the famous #Diapori and #pisina beaches and let the magic of #paradise overtake you. The lighthouse and the blue cave in Mourtos islet stand out!
#Bella #Vraka is a dreamy paradise. Let the pictures reveal its beauty.
All along the southern coasts you will find awesome virgin coves and exotic beaches.
#Parga is a fascinating travel destination. Its #Castle, #panorama views, traditional architecture and beaches are an irresistible combination.
From here you can do the day cruise to #Paxos and #Antipaxos islands!
Riding #Acheron river is an experience you shouldn't miss. According to #mythology, the shadowy spirits of the dead inhabited this valley. With #Hermes and #Charon as their guides, they would be led down the Acheron River and across Lake #Acherousian to #Hades.
North of Sivota we meet #Plataria with its #marina.
And #Igoumenitsa, known for its busy port and for being surrounded by several forests and blue waters, worths your attention!
#Corfu island is a Greek heaven only an hour away, by ferry!
