This song from suit "The Carnival of the Animals"
サン・サーンス「白鳥」
テルミン演奏:クララ・ロックモア - Hudba
"You must not only hit a note, but you must hit the center of it. You cannot register any of your internal emotion at all. You cannot shake your head, for instance, or sway back and forth on your feet. That would change your tone." -Clara Rockmore
Thanks for this comment. I thought that’s what I saw, but wasn’t sure. Wow. Embodied Perfect Pitch.
She's also playing an instrument that sounds like a fart.
@@LRBeforeTheInternet RUBBISH
Her experience as a violin player really shows through. It is interesting that she reportedly came from a family of people with perfect pitch. Her sense of space (horizontally pitch in her right hand, and vertically loudness in her left hand) must be exquisite.
Heard this on Loki, blew my mind to think The Swan played on a theremin would sound so good
Looks like not many people caught it but yes this is the song
yea
Me too. I knew I had heard it b4. Been listening to the swan on spotify lately. This song just fit perfectly in the scene of loki. It's a great tune!
@@doge8825 I know, I believe more ppl were interested in the songs played in the credits. This version of the swan is sweet !
I'm here due to Loki too.
For anyone interested, Clara Rockmore's theremin and speaker are on display at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I was there today. It's a wonderful tribute to her, as well. Even displays one of the outfits she wore on stage frequently.
That is an awesome museum! When we visited, there was a theramin you could actually try to play!
I love the flickers of emotion on her face as she feels the music. Wonderful.
totally immersed in the performance
I believe Jimmy Page might make the same face when he played theremin for Led Zeppelin.
She's sculpting a song
For those interested: Clara Rockmore's theremin, the instrument in this video, can be seen at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Scottsdale, AZ.

Fun fact: she possessed the skill of absolute pitch - ie - if you told her so sing 440hz she could sing/play an A to you

woah dudes famous
ha hope you still looking at us now, we’re still pathetic
So do you. "If you were me..."
That feeling is too much hope in us....
Well this was a pleasant surprise
The first time I heard this, I actually cried. Everytime I hear this, I just feel like an alien in space
same. ;)
I can't stop crying😭
I'm a writer and after hearing this wrote "The theremint won't make me cry", i also have that sensation, its a powerfull melody.
I cried too!
well, we are just aliens in spinning aimlessly through space on a floating rock.
God bless google who brought me here because honestly this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
god said to me he doesn't exist
well it's one of the most well known classical pieces and there's a reason. it really is just beautiful
+Inayah Cee The "Album" is really good, the elephant being a very poignant one. Look it up
Thank Saint-Saens
I learned about this woman many years ago thanks to many of these same videos that are still here on yt. She was a magnificent musician and played one of the most difficult instruments to play actual tunes on. Her theremin was given to her directly by it's inventor Leon Theremin who lived a very interesting life that's worth reading about. Probably most people with access to music, tv, and/or movies have heard a theremin at some point, but rarely has it been used with the same artistry of Clara Rockmore. It's nice to see Google's doodle bringing some recognition to this amazing musician.
Tears, tears. Magnificant.
I'm sure Leon theremin taught a very young, Jimmy Page, about using the electronic instrument, as well as other musicians, had in the past.
There’s a documentary about him, Clara Rockmore and his amazing life. The trailer at least should be on YT.
Yess
That’s the exact same thing I just said to my daughter yess
She was a genius.
PERFECT intonation, and dynamics.
She has never been topped.
So glad this was filmed.
The mother of electronic music.
Electro-Magnetic music :))
That title can be for Delia Derbyshire or Daphne Oram, but anyway this woman definitely rules!
No sorry , that is Hip-Hop from detroit !!! This is other thing !! this Quantic Phisics !
@@marup87 she's talking bout music not musician
I thought it started in at earlier like 1876 that’s when the synthesizer was invented
I love the Theremin. The way Ms. Rockmore plays, gives it a sound like an opera singer.
This song has been my love since I was 8.
And now it’s in the Loki show?! Played on my favorite instrument?! I’m about to spontaneously combust.
Lol really the theremin is your Favorite instrument.. Haha. I first heard of this instrument on the Big bang theory show. 😂
@@Yoaedn I love love the theremin! It’s the perfect blend of haunting and sweet. And ahh! I forgot Sheldon plays it!
@@angelinapirolo yah, lol. When I heard it on BBT I thought it was just annoying. It was a Hilarious scene tho 😂. Never looked into the theremin until today.! I saw Carolina Eyck's ted talk. And heard her ecstacy of gold song, it was pretty incredible!. Any Song recommendations?
If you say your going to combust its not spontaneous. 😆
I saw this exact comment on another post lol wtf XD
Google brought me here..... and up until 5 minutes ago, I didn't even know what the fuck a Theremin was....

After a lifetime of music, and just when you think you have heard everything, it is great to have your world shaken, by something as unexpected, and as beautiful as this.
Look at those precise hand movements at 0:13 to 0:32. What an underappreciated and pretty unknown musical instrument, an an underrated musical talent this women I think is.
She doesn't need ratings or approval from anyone!
Actually Clara Rockmore is very highly regarded as a musical virtuoso. She worked with Loen Theramin closely to develop the Theramin. She then invented the technique to play it that is still taught today. Her later association with Robert Moog led to him developing a commercially available Theramin. His work with that instrument inspired him to push further and invent the musical synthesizer in the 1960's.
The Theremin is arguably the most difficult instrument on the planet to learn to play well instead of just making strange alien noises. There is nothing to give you any cue about where to place your hands other than pure muscle memory.
@@richarddixon70 If you get a chance, scroll up a few msgs, and see her own words, not mine, about Tchaikovsky coming to see her play Theremin in US, and his request that she play Bach for him.
She was indeed, and without doubt one of the finest musicians of any era.
The only difference is that her preferred instrument was a more recent invention, yet that could not diminish neither her nor her magnificent musical abilities or her astounding and innate way of actually emoting on an completely "electronic" instrument.
BTW, as a multi-instrumentalist who has TNTC instruments, including a Theremin, an old Fender Rhodes electric full case traveling electric piano, and one of the earliest Moog synthesizers that rolled off the production line, I'm right there with you on every word. 🤟🎼
@@richarddixon70 I guess "underrated" in this context is supposed to mean "more famous among the general public". But yes, she was highly regarded, but "merely" by her own peers. Personally I think that might be the better kind of fame though - appreciated by people who know what they're talking about, and less hassle from everyone else!
I bet the person who uploaded this never thought that 9 years later they'd get like a millions views in one day lol
+TheMillydi got to love google , thats it im looking at old people i can stick up on my channel and hope google do the same for me lol
Actually, if you look at the view statistics, the view count has been steadily rising over the last couple of years rather have a huge spike on the day google did a doodle on it.

@@momoseokangjoon8936 Episode 4, the scene in Renslayer's office with Mobius
theremin always gives me spooky yet really warm and beautiful vibes.
p.s. these two ladies seem like a pair of old witch sisters enjoying themselves (and that just gives me life)
wowww, she imitates a human voice with the theremin so well. the scoops and phrases are breathtaking
This instrument is so cool, it uses antennas to create the sound and I honestly can't really wrap my head around it but all I know is that it's so cool and Clara is really good at playing it.
+Hannah M Well, just to clarify,it creates sound because of the changes in the electromagnetic field when someone puts their hand next to the antennas.Due to the sensitiveness of the antennas, the change is notified and tranformed into microwaves that indentify as sound.
this thing is, about Theremins... it's so amazingly, incredibly, unbelievably, incomprehensibly, inconceivably difficlult to play and sound like she does, that it's almost other worldly. The fact she can make it sound like she does is nothing short of a miracle.
well time to get a theremin
+RG-26920 Air Core yes
+RG-26920 Air Core hahaha
Moog makes a nice one that isn't so expensive.
ok. Then make a video of u play g like her ......after 50 yrs of practice. 😀
Or try the online Theremin by Femurdesign and try to replicate Clara Rockmore's wonderful performance.
I can't even play the simplest of melodies with any accuracy (much less feeling) - like the Christmas carol 'Joy To The World' or 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. I'd probably get a Moog 'Theremini', which has pitch control that makes it much, much easier for new users to play specific notes with accuracy, plus normal Theremin options. Lydia Kavina has a good demonstration of what it can do and gives hope for new users at 6m05s --

To me, this embodies the sound of a perfect human voice. So beautiful 😭
It can sound just as bad as a human voice, this woman is an angel.
it's not her voice though, it's violin. She's the maestro
It is not a violin but a THEREMIN.
my bad
:)
So Magnif........ wait how did i get here ive got a term paper due tomorrow darn Google
who knew such a strange instrument could play such beautiful music...

This is just the right piece of music for this instrument. Superbly interpreted here.

I've heard this instrument before and yes, it sounds like singing.

Clara got more out of Theremin's invention than HE did. She died 26 years ago this week. Rest in peace. DA
Is she playing with her eyes closed? I had already fallen in love with this performance, but that, that just sealed the deal for me. Absolutely beautiful.

Wow - playing the Theremin is tough enough, but to pull off such a beautiful performance of Le Cygne on it like this is amazing. She had skills, mad skills.
That is just beautiful.
I have no words.
she’s playing with her whole heart. i listen to this piece all the time but never seen a video before, so so beautiful.

Theremin is by far one of my favorite instruments. Always wanted to try one out.
WOW That Incredible
This piece literally moves me to tears. Such a haunting tone, she plays it so beautifully.
Это БОЖЕСТВЕННОЕ ЧУДО!
Fun fact: aliens don't have vocal cords, instead they have a tiny theremin in their throat
Man, I haven't touched my theremin in years.
+Jay Bee Why?
+Sara Wunsch
Clara lived into her late eighties, even though she was malnourished as a child. Theremin lived to 97, even with the struggle of problems in the USSR (imprisoned etc.).
Maybe there is something about the theremin and longevity. Maybe sleep with it plugged in, under your bed. That's where my ukulele rests. (I'm joking.)
Namaste and care,
mhikl
+Sara Wunsch Apparently they didn't get it. Sigh...the joke is that since you don't need to touch a theremin to play it...

is this a pun??? XD
*I am Loki & I am burdened with glorious purpose.*

Absolute and utter virtuosity.
I weep at the sweetness.
Thank you Clara, I miss you.
And thank you Yaoikan for posting these videos.
Wonderful music from a gifted musician. Happy birthday to Ms. Rockmore. And may the LORD rest her soul.
Damn it. Crying. RIP Clara. Thank you for your music.
The first time I've heard of her.
Yes, she was a master.
what magic, music is..
+Ravi S Chadha It is what man decorates its time in, as art is what mankind decorates its space in.
In my opinion, Music is the ultimate invention of all humanity.

The sound of silence brought me here. Such a haunting, melancholic piece that I initially thought was being sung at a high pitch. Glad I checked it out because I would not have known about theremin.
I knew what a Theremin is and how it sounds but it never heard of Clara Rockmore before. This is really beautiful.
She is playing it with so much feeling! It's so beautiful!
Simply amazing. I play the clarinet and I knew this piece before, but played by Clara with the Theremin sounds like heaven.
Happy Birthday Ms. Rockmore and I've been listening to you since the 90's as a child
I remember my great grandma there... miss you
AMAZING! i live in a musician family and i didn t know what this was! omg, why?!?! this is awesome
Thank you Google, for showing me this :D i'm really amazed
The emotion and soul behind such a strange little instrument is absolutely beyond me. It is like a woman’s tender lullaby-humming voice to her children. Felt teary listening to this beauty.
I remember learning about this lady, she loved the Theremin and loved classical music, but no one really took the Theremin seriously in the classical world, so she use to only get gigs playing and scoring for horror movies. Her amazing Theremin playing did eventually get recognized and she started to make classical recordings which was her dream for the longest. Very inspirational musician, shows us that no matter what you can always play music your way regardless off what everyone else thinks.
one quick correction... she never did play anything but serious music on the theremin. Those who would score the theremin for movies etc., were others and played by others. She was adamant that this was a serious instrument and never flinched one inch from that pure stance (those who knew her knew that she wasn't the flinching sort on such topics).
what an exquisite performance!
i have always loved this instrument and her rendition of this piece is superb.
She really plays it like a violin - amazing.
Or the human voice.
@@MegaBadgeman Yes! However the violin is one of the instruments that comes the closest to the human voice!
@@ingridwissink4899 I'm not sure but because violins strings are arranged in an arch the violin like other stringed instruments can play two notes together, something a vocalist can't normally do.
@@MegaBadgeman I'm a violinist so I'm aware lol! Playing double stops (2 notes at once) is less common in violin playing than single notes. I'm just talking about the overall timbre. People say the same about cellos and violas of course, they're like the equivalent of lower voices.
at first i though it's her voice, like opera singers.
Perfect TVA theme
And we are back!
Whoa... Me and my brother are learning this for two pianos right now. I love this theremin version. I can't believe I found this on accident. Nice!

I also have an obsession with the sound of the theremin which IMO is a string and voice combo. Clara Rockmore was the genius of the instrument.
I think this piece was written for the theremin.
She could make those electrons dance. Beautiful.
The band geek in me wants to learn how to play the theremin now o.o
You go Clara Rockmore :)
Damn this instrument is sooo underrated.. it's amazing what you can do with it .. from classics to psychedelic music ..
The Theremin sounds so elegant and luminous, Clara Rockmore's teacher was Leon Theremin (Sole Creator of the Theremin). She is also known as the Soul of a Machine and the greatest Theremin player to have ever lived.
i remember google did a doodle for Rockmore. My most fav doodle ever
Smoothest artist i've ever seen.. even employs her pinkie to to add nuance..
it makes me cry
Oh it's not that bad really.
Beautiful. Truly Beautiful.
This instrument was made about 100 years ago, and I just discovered it a few days ago, not only that but I'm amazed that such an instrument exists. Seems to have arrived way before its time.
This instrument has been around on Public TV for years, introducing several of its shows, especially detective shows where "spookiness" is also a part. Most recently, watch "Midsomer Murders" to hear a theremin introduction theme.
Sun., Jan 10 2015 3:43 pm EST - The beauty of Clara Rockmore's conceptualization and performance is beyond words to describe. No violin can compete with the capacity of the theremin, conducted by her virtuosic hands, to embody the composer's most ethereal impression of this magnificent melody.
