    EMAIL THE SEC: protectdefi.org/
The SEC put out a little proposal... If enacted it could crush crypto technology all without even mentioning the words defi or cryptocurrency.
How is this even possible? Is this a mistake.. intentional ignorance..? Or something else altogether?
    Fade intensity to next section
This new proposal by the SEC plans to expand on the word “securities dealer” to Specifically include treasury dealers... Making them subject to much more regulation.
Now wait... you’re probably wondering how this relates to crypto at all? I mean the title of the proposal is literally about government securities dealers... not crypto...
Well... in this case, it’s all about the footnotes... the fine print
See on footnote 36 it states that this rule would apply to securities defined by the document... as well as ANY digital asset that is a security as defined by the Securities Act

The scary part is genuine "Blockchain" is just speech and recordkeeping.
      It won't be regulable.
Soooo many legacy types just haven't realized this yet, but that's why it's a silent revolution. Not just for us, either:
most economies and powers in the world, far more than the USA, are utterly dependent on monetary control and finance for political viability and social stability.
In the words of Peter Zeihan, money to them is "a political, more economic, good." (Zeihan isn't a crypto fan, btw!) That includes major industrial and financial powerhouses known to be as fiscally irresponsible as...Germany.
The USA is almost singularly the only nation-state that is, or even can be, an exception.
Blockchain means the world would change unimaginably even if the USA hadn't ceased holding up the Bretton-Woods proposal (policing the world and letting everyone sell to you without having to open their markets to you).
All the tools and thinking are forced, by crypto, to change entirely.
Very likely, to an incentives (vs a coercive) system.
The powers that be that not only realize this, but successfully adapt to this (VERY quickly) have potential to become unprecedentedly powerful and wealth-generating.
My hope is the USA figures it out and acts accordingly in the next elections cycle.

    • @dakara4877
      @dakara4877 Před 2 lety

@@infinitelink They don't have to regulate the blockchain to control it. They can regulate the peripheral layer where humans must interact. I hope it doesn't go down this path, but it would be foolish for me to think governments are just going to give up control.
The USA has a powerful gaslighting operation in the media. The elections are mostly masses of zombies participating in a mind control experiment.

    • @FerrisMcLauren
      @FerrisMcLauren Před 2 lety

Your view doesn't make sense. It's voluntary regulation. They ask people to provide their wallet address on taxes. Soon government will convince itself that crypto isn't taxed enough and people will have to comply or go through a hellish audit. Blockchain and specifically Bitcoin is so transparent that anyone who has tried to hide has failed. Silk road failed. Pipeline hackers and Bitfinex hackers failed. Only privacy coins are unable to be regulated.

crypto is a new paradigm, it doesn't require fitting into existing laws or even bending to accommodate old concepts
crypto needs to start with a clean slate, no predefined states of being or forced models
The only thing crypto should be subject to is common law, that is, "you should do no harm"
This is the only law humans should be subjected to and that includes any invention they create, including crypto

This could get fun in the hands of billionaires given the following:
"Blockchain" isn't an asset. Not even in the form of "crypto." Nor "securities."
    It's literally... speech.
    The best part is this:
    it's speech communicated... to yourself.
e.g. if you transact "crypto", you're actually writing... to your own records.
    That's it.
Then others take a peak at the records. If they agree that it's a valid write, they accept it.
That's the underlying power that FREAKS OUT a lot of regulatory minds. (I actually don't blame them as there are many reasons for the ideas and practices they have in...a system of finance that's control rather than communication based.)
"Blockchain" (not all "crypto" is actually Blockchain--those that aren't...) is a technology... that works on the basis of communication TO YOURSELF FIRST, so is protected by Amendment I jurisprudence and the written Constitution.
If you regulate it, if it's REALLY Blockchain, you're claiming you can infringe Amendment I.
That's also a large part of the game theory and why the people who built it... spoke of it as "uncensorable" vs "unblockable transactions."
That also poses an immense problem for this kind of proposal: if the defi code isn't a middle man but merely a communicated contact, it's not a service, just communication...
Sometime should inform Congress about this. Lots of money to be made (and they're allowed to trade at any time with any info and advantage regardless of telling others fairly etc).

If crypto/defi can only survive without it's obvious securitization being treated and regulated as a security... Then the outsized returns are mainly sourced from evasion - rather than intrinsic value generation. It's the ultimate defi/crypto litmus test: if it can thrive and maintain yield under proper regulation and taxation, then its intrinsic value is irrefutable.

SEC versus Ripple, is a key lawsuit that will, IMO, heavily define the future for crypto. Right now, the SEC is losing and using a garden variety of stalling tactics. My added paragraph to your SEC link; "As a long time student of foreign affairs I appreciate that you no doubt understand we are currently going through significant geopolitical challenges and change. I feel confident that if the US can focus on it’s strengths it will be able to effect the world in a stabilizing way. As a technology investor I believe and assume you will agree innovation is one of the USA's greatest strengths. After deep research I have come to believe that crypto is the way of the future, that it is the greatest nascent innovation. I would strongly encourage you to do whatever is in your power to help this innovation or even better, just get out of the way. Obviously it has been born and excelled without any government intervention, for any intervention is a hindrance to the space, the nation and the peace of the world. America can lead or America can follow behind, in the end it will have no long term systemic effect, the tech will move on regardless".
