  • Slow Pitch Jigging | Yankee Capt. | Gear & Technique | Grouper & Snapper | JohnnyJigs
    This is a trip that we look forward to every year on the Yankee Capt. We leave out of Stock Island in the Florida Keys and steam for 12 hours offshore to fish an area called Pully Ridge. In this slow pitch jigging video Chris gives a solid break down of pitching your jig off the stern and a great explanation of slow pitch jigging technique. We talk about the jigs and gear that we use on this trip and catch a cooler full of great fish. Stick around to the end for some bonus footage of Marco the mate….

    Pretty slick how you snuck in so many tips! I'm booked on a 4 day trip out of Marco. How about a quick tutorial on rail etiquette when in rotation? I have no clue

    Great video! Marco makes a great point, possibly for different reasons, We (ladies) have to take this trip more often. I can tell you - it's different and a bit crude - but the FUN and catch possibilities are off the chain. I am a Johnny Jigs and Yankee Capts fan!

    just watched the video. yup always get in the pools.
    Going back to the Cali. trip. I saw you upped the line and leader. the question is did you stay with knots or go to crimps on the heavier 80lb plus leaders? if knots what kind. I can't tie a good knot with the heavy mono

      @JohnnyJigsTV  Před 2 lety

      Hey David we used the PR "page Ranking" for Cali and Florida. It is a 100% connection. To the jig a double wrap uni knot

    Always look forward to you guys posting a new video. Thanks for the cast technique Chris. I like the how to portions of the videos since I'm new to this. The casting part is just a bit of a challenge. Are you guys in free spool or is there some bit of drag on it and you thumbing the spool. Thaks for the videos. Jig on.

    Question: when you guys are bringing fish up when using the electric reels, do you bring them in on the highest speed setting or just slowly bring them up. I was always told when you bottom fish with an electric you use full drag and full speed to bring them in because you have the circle hooks. But I can’t tell if you’re reels are on high or not when you’re bringing in the fish

    • @JohnnyJigsTV
      @JohnnyJigsTV  Před 2 lety

      Hey Cip, we bring them up slow so the hooks don't pull.
