Adam Owens In design, sure (especially considering Midler's portraits in the fighting game are based off of Yukako.) But not in personality. Midler is murderous and mocking, and she has an effective command of her stand through experience. Compare this to Yukako, who only has psychotic episodes fueled out of love (although, she's still crazy, I'm not justifying it), and she's capable of reflecting upon herself and her attitude.
Would’ve thought "Yukako" be older Middle Eastern outsiders in Japan, 1999? No, nothing really.

Never got a Merchant card because that's not an actual card. I'm not sure what tarot decks you were looking at, possibly one of the many very old defunct variants, but the standard Rider-Waite deck only has the ones Araki used in its major arcana.

Except Yukako wasn't necessarily evil, just obsessed, and she admired Koichi truly after he saved her life despite her actions. Koichi is also a naturally forgiving person, and earnestly just wants people to get along, which aided in their shared experience with Cinderella's abilities.
Midler is a career criminal, so who knows how many people she's murdered or assassinated. Jotaro is also much less forgiving than Koichi, and much like Joseph, he's not about to get together with someone who tried to kill him directly. Besides, she loves DIO much more than Jotaro, and Jotaro's type isn't someone like Midler.

I think I remember Araki mentioning that showing a woman beat up in manga at the time was a no-no, which is why it was a big deal when he decided it was time to have a female lead in part 6. So it's not too surprising that a woman with her teeth knocked out was considered a lot worse than all the nasty things that had happened to the male characters.

Its awesome as her design is and all, I did always felt like she was a lesser Mariah, which not might be a little unfair since Midler came first but even the whole "if we weren't enemies maybe i'd date you" thing was reused, just on a different character.

For heritage they “traced” panels from the manga for the various character portraits and because Midler wasn’t shown in the manga enough to have reference for facial expressions Capcom had to be resourceful. I may be wrong, but think they also did similar things for some of the minor characters.
