- Welcome to this lesson for Mississippi Blues by Willie Brown on acoustic blues guitar.
On Patreon I have broken this song down into 5 lessons, click on the Patreon link below for the full lessons. It is a difficult song to learn how to play. Having said that, there is nothing lost in giving it a shot to see what you think. There are Pdf sheets on Patreon to guide you through each part.
Below you will also find a link to my full performance of the piece.

Grazie anche per l’italiano 🍾🍾🍾🍾
Super
Thanks
Nice, until you mentioned the alternating base from A to E, I was struggling, now it makes sense
Glad to hear that Kent
Joe, how do I find Part 2 for this on the patreon page?
It’s only been two years. I’m sure he’ll answer soon. I’d also like to see part two of this.
I learned this from a book. It was written using standard notation (SN) not Tab. Many people don’t learn SN.
SN is a powerful way to learn a song. When I learned this song using SN, I had still never heard it. The SN taught me to play it correctly without having heard it. You can’t do that with tab.
If you’re young, learn SN. It will massively enrich your music journey. Yeah, it’s “hard” but a great investment.
Unless you want to be a traditionalist and learn guitar in the way it was meant to be learned, using tablature, which predates standard notation.
@@MisterNiles Are you saying I’d be better off forgetting Standard Notation (SN) because guitar was “meant to be taught” using Tablature?
There are many great guitarists who can’t read a note of SN.
And many more who know it’s superior value but hate it’s steep learning curve.
SN is a rich LANGUAGE for representing music. Tablature shows you how to play a song you’ve already heard.
You can’t fully learn a song with only Tablature.
BTW: I like your rendition especially the tone. Suggestion: This video can be a Standard Notation learning vehicle. After you’ve memorized this lesson, find the standard notation and see how it’s transcribed.
Great lesson. I Liked and Subscribed.
@@FlaschDJ nope. You can learn to play it anyway you want but I did some shaming and superior in your post and I want people to know that there is nothing wrong with using tablet. I personally don’t use it, but it is literally the original way guitar music was notated and cannot be discounted as somehow inferior. It is a tool that has helped millions of people learn to play the guitar. There’s no reason for them to feel bad about the way they learn to play.
I love Standard Notation (SN). As a boy, I studied clarinet. SN was there from Day 1.
Later, I learned guitar. Like many, I learned chords. Later, my focus turned to notes- 12 notes on 6 strings (=72). I aim to memorize all 72.
I find SN to be EXHILARATING.
As far as how how others play and learn, it’s not my concern.
MisterNiles: I apologize for any shaming.
Joe, if I join as an Associate Producer Patreon can I get access to the tabs?
Hello Mark, Hopefully Joe replies himself, but to answer your question. Associate Producers have full access to all lessons, tabs, chord sheets, mp3s etc.
Hey Mark, sorry for delay getting back to you. Yep Associate Producer, gets you everything, as Leo mentioned below. I should also point out that Patreons billing cycle is on the 1st of the month, so to avoid being charged twice in a short period of time,, you can sign up on the 1st. Patreon do make this clear when anyone signs up, but I thought I would mention it. Hope that helps. Be great to have you on board
@@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons Thanks my friend, see you after the 1st. You give very clear and precise lessons, easy to follow.
