Tour De France: What Do the Jerseys Mean?

The Tour De France is about to start. During the race, you might find it curious what the colorful jerseys are and what they mean except for the jersey of each team.
Normally you will find 4 kinds of jerseys particularly different.
The yellow jersey, or maillot jaune, is worn by the rider leading the general classification (GC).
The polka dot jersey, or maillot à pois rouges, is given to the rider leading the King of the Mountains category.
The green jersey, or maillot vert, is worn by the rider leading the points classification.
The white jersey, or maillot blanc, is awarded to the best young rider.
