Another 'dollar dazzler' from Boderry with a heap of specs for just over a ton. Noice! Cheers, Jody
Moans and niggles:I ordered the blue (titanium, FKM strap) in mid-December. I finally got the watch on March 6! Customer support was terrible and deceptive throughout the process. No leather/leatherette watch roll. Still haggling with them over tat issue.Lume leaves a lot to be desired. Their photos show the watch as being a much lighter blue than it actually is. The hand set could/should be a little wider. At certain angles, it's hard to distinguish!
Good stuff: The difference in on wrist feel between this and my Orient Kanasu and Mako 2, the strap is fantastic. Love the FKM. It is a good looking watch in person. The "legendary" NH 35 is plugging along just fine. Since I got if for $107, I can live with the niggles.
I can't stand niggles
Yeah, i had hassles with them too - their customer service is laughable.
Broader and longer fence post hands or syringe hands would make a huge difference here imo. Great to see mfg direct pricing for titanium!
I ordered three watches from these folks and after six weeks I packed it in. I had been outright lied to several times. Only after I put in a complaint via PayPal did I ever get their interest. And wouldn't you know *just* before the auto-refund countdown zeroed out I suddenly got my watches. The sea turtles that I got do NOT have an NH 35 - they hand wind but do not hack. The back play on the bezel is awful - I can frequently twist it backwards. The honeycomb lume is OK but nothing special. Customer service is just awful. Well, maybe worse than awful. The watches are OK, but for like money you can do better. Caveat Emptor!!!!!
@@bagpiperin a way you got lucky… those are miyota 8215. i didn’t buy because of poor lume, but if i did i’d source a 8315 and swap. hacking + 60hr power reserve upgrade would make it unmatched under 200$usd.
I bought the bronze version of this and it is a fantastic value. A fun & affordable way to play with a bronze watch- take it in & out of the sea and pool on vacation without blowing the family’s holiday budget.
Bought my first bronze watch last year because I was always curious about them and grabbed a great deal $75 Mark One bronze with a Miyota 9039 and really liked it. So much so I bought a Glycine Combat sub bronze also. Their is a nice warm hue and it builds a nice looking patina.
4:27 People dis the cheap Seiko movements because somehow they have to justify the HUGE markup for COSC certification that delivers a TINY relative improvement in performance. A minute or two in a week is less than most of us spend leaving comments pretty much nobody will read - incl this one! To be clear: I am all for spending money on a really good watch - I crave the Chronomaster - just don’t dis a perfectly good low-cost movement like the Seiko.
I love them to. Even better, when service needed, just change movements out. Keep old movement for spares if you want to service them. Great fun.
You asked about bronze... is anyone picking them up anymore, or even looking? Not sure! I'm not buying anymore, but the one bronze piece I did purchase back about 6 years ago was based on your recommendation/review - the Borealis Oceanaut. And I adore it! The hearty brown leather strap which, despite it's high quality and wearability, is long gone. The watch now adorns my wrist via an orange silicone tropic. The case has plenty of patina that has developed from wear and travel (sweat, of course, has contributed - but also sulfur steam vents in Yellowstone, the salty Pacific around Oahu when in the water scoping sharks, etc, etc... each place literally becomes part of the watch's patina, and I think of that each time I wear it).
The case now has a rich, dark, matte, veriegated finish (so it exhibits the passage of time in multiple ways) and, I think, increases it's wear versatility. It commands at least 33% of my wrist time, despite the fact that I have many, many (too many) timepieces, both modern and vintage.
So, I have no interest in a new bronze because I love this one (my only bronze watch, BTW). You get bronze not for how the case looks new (shiny bronze is not the most attractive aesthetic - I think many would agree), but how they look 2, 5, 10 years down the road. Weathered and beautiful... reminding the wearer of times past and times that are yet to be.
This comment needs more likes.
Thanks! Just being honest - don't want all bronze watches, but the right one worn for a while becomes like an old friend with lots of stories.@@asherbroadbent1755
So does yours !!
I have one of these, amazing watch for the price and it has become one of my favourites due to its looks and slim profile.
Such a refreshing dial on this one. Looks like a solid affordable diver. I'm digging the bezel grip.
Been looking at the bronze version, I recently picked up the Steel Dive Bronze Willard and love it. I think the bronze version of this with the blue looks lovely.
The bronze is great. I got it for Christmas last year and I love it.
I have the limited edition bronze diver (sea turtle on the dial) it is by far my favorite watch even tho it’s not very expensive
I've had the bronze with blue dial for a couple of months now and I love it. I get lots of compliments on it as well. I took it to the Caribbean in mid February because I wanted to get the salt water on it to get the patina really going. It's turning a beautiful chocolate brown now. The rubber strap is very comfortable
I just warched the $87 Boderry video and was wondering where this video was since you showed the watch briefly in that one. And then here it is!
Love a nice Bronze watch (: Recently bought a Steel Dive 1903 Big pilot lovely piece.
I remember checking one of these out a couple of years ago now, back when it came on a leather strap, instead of a rubber one. I was also surprised by the lumed honeycomb part as well. It definitely works better on a rubber strap.
My SeaTurtle is my favorite watch! I prefer it just slight above my Seiko SRPB77 and my Spinnaker Beluga Blue SP-5128-11, which are my second and third favorite respectively.
Ive just got Boderry's bronze voyager with the green face. Other than the cowhide strap whch is frankly far too thick, im in love with it. Amazing watch for the price
I have the green dial version. It is a very nice watch.
Very nice! Thanks Jody.
I'm still planning on getting bronze Tuna eventually so I have a cool bronze watch for the patina.
Great video! Great affordable watch!
That's a great looking watch. I did a review of Boderry's Red Voyager titanium which I LOVED. I think for that price and that build quality you CANNOT go wrong. Keep up the Great Work Jody!!! 👏
I got the miyota Titanium one last year and luckily a nato strap that comes free with a San martin ( the blu and gray one) color matched it perfectly
Thanks for the video. I own the grey Sea Turtle in titanium grey. Beautiful watch and wears well.
really enjoy the aqua blue design
I have the silver model. Lume on hands and hour markers doesn’t stay bright for long but I was pleasantly surprised that they are clearly legible all night long.
I have the bronze and blue version of this and I love it. Worth noting the bronze version does not have lume on the bezel numbers... just the indicator at the top has it. Everything else is basically the same
I wasn’t sure about this one, but I for one am glad it exists and that you continue to show a wide spectrum of watches on your channel. Thank you Sir!
nice looking watch just cant get over the logo makes it looks like a fashion brand
I picked up the IXDAO bronze not that long ago. Excluding the not very great name and an awkward lug width for the case size, It's actually been quite nice. Well built and the movement in mine runs solid.
what a great finding. I don't like the diver that much, but their field options (and materials) are really nice. Thanks!
That hex face looks great, my favorite part of the watch. Black version is very striking too
I received it today yes Sunday just ordered 15/03 super fast delivery very happy about the watch thank you Jody
Definitely good value for the money, but I have reached peak diver... Regarding bronze watches, I got my first one a few weeks ago, a Wise Adamascus AD8 and it is one of my favourite watches, it gets a lot of wrist time. The bronze / green dial combination is gorgeous.
That's a beauty. Looks like a Barton rubber strap. Amazing straps by the way.
I bought the green variant in January. I like it for a splash of color in my wardrobe
Excellent presentation mister, keep it up! Overall watch is decent and great value , keep it up
I’ve been watching your videos for over two years, now. I’ve purchased several watches you’ve reviewed, and have been incredibly pleased. My wife and I don’t have the budget for the bigger brands, so most of the collection is Casio. I wore a Wenger in the hospital when my first daughter was born, and it’ll be given to her husband when she’s older. With another daughter coming in a few months, I’ve been trying to figure out what to get for “her watch.” This might be the ticket; very reasonably priced, and definitely my style.
I plan on wearing my “daughter’s” watches at different occasions through their childhood so that the photos show it, hopefully making the gift more meaningful.
Thanks for all you do, Jody.
INCREDIBLE value for money. Absolutely impressed by the Travel pouch. Cheers.
I have the bronze version. Very nice dive watch for the money.
My experience with this company was not good. It took two months to get the watch. When I messaged or emailed them, I got zero response. I ordered the cool sea blue watch and I got a dark blue watch. My whole experience sucked from ordering to opening the package. Horrible customer service. If you get a watch that is good, then you are fine. Have a simple issue or a complex issue, it doesn’t matter, you will get nothing for help. I understand you had a good experience with them, but the internet is full of bad reviews and complaints that I think would be fair of you to mention because otherwise it looks like you are sending some people to be suckered.
Hmm that’s weird I’ve always gotten mine fairly quickly! I love all three of my boderry watches and I’ve been planning to get more sometime down the road (still need the voyager and perhaps another asymmetry)
Oh dear! I bought the bronze version of this watch with the same strap in January - It may not be cool, but I like it. You just reminded me to wear it - swapped on my wrist for my Christopher Ward Chronograph :-)
Bronze 👊🏾
Good looking watch!
Thanks Jody!
I love the fact you put the watch on the timegrapher. I think this is not only easy to do for a professional, but also relevant for the content. Thumbs up and subscribe from me.
I have the bronze version of this. Great watch, only issue I have is the rotor on mine is noisy.
That's a nice looking watch! For some reason I thought those Boddery watches were more expensive. Titanium case as well!
Lovely Jody, just lovely. Truly a dollar dazzler as you say!
I have both the titanium (w/ the stuttery Miyota) and bronze (w/ good old NH35) versions of their Voyager. They are a bit unwieldy, could definitely use a better lugs design/setup, but they have killer specs and rarely anything comes close to their value-for-money.
Indices! Thank you!
I've got their titanium field watch (salmon colored numbers with the blue hands) in my watch box. I like it.
I still love bronze watches and definitely have been eyeing the Broderry. Bronze
For some reason when you mentioned the honeycomb pattern on the dial I thought of the Borg. Then it hit me, the hive.
Dollar Dazzler ™. Love it Jody!
It is a very beautiful watch. I like it and going to get one. Easy peasy.
I have one of these in the blue and was blown away with it for money. Well impressed. Easily could charge triple the price in my opinion.
haha Jody! very cool. I purchased one a month ago and offered for you to review it, and the next day, your review came up, even the colour is the same! What's the chance of that. NIce review. and cant wait for mind (i find their shipping super slow tho!)
This watch has been on my radar for like a good year now due to the lume. Regarding bronze, I bought my bronze Zelos with their mosaic mother of pearl dial last year and still rock it; beautiful watch.
Edit: shame the lume doesn’t last.
Good looking watch, looks a bit like Omega.
Yes, it does!
Very very similar n not too shabby 😊❤
@@juangarza7193 A cheap Chinese watch the looks like a Omega. Who would have thought the Chinese would do that. lol
I just ordered the bronze version. Don't have a bronze watch, but I am looking forward to getting my hands on it
And they just added the ability to get this on a bracelet
I love boderry, i got the urban and the storm amazing value for money
Boderry's newest offering is even more insane value for money. I just ordered an ADMIRAL GMT Titanium for 125$ (standard 10% discount included). Shipment is, of course, FREE. And to seal the deal, it comes with a titanium bracelet. Here you go...
I've got a sea turtle it's a great value I ordered a S.S bracelet from them also had for approx 1year great watch for price
Got the silver version in December 2023 and was really impressed at once. Now the paint on the dial started to peel of and is floating around inside the crystal. It's honestly to cheap to be holding up on all ends
2:11 Have to say I really like the design BUTthe hands are far too small!. At this time stamp the second hand obliterates the hour hard!
It is heavy for a titanium watch. I would prefer the bronze with the light brown leather strap.
I have a bronze San Martin and it’s great. Sure don’t need more than one though.
Bought one of these from a UK YT watch reviewer. He had probs with it on delivery which he fixed himself (stiff bezel IIRC). I wore it for a bit and liked the dial and case (which I still doubt is Ti) but hated the noisy and inaccurate Miyota 8xxx movement. Gave it to a non-watch mate who seems happy with it running +5 mins a day fast as of today. Glad they've changed to SII movement. Might be worth a reassessment if I'm feeling lucky.
Now I’ll watch the rest of the video!
Two Princess Leah shirts this week.... Hmm...
This one has been on my list for a while. The green is quite nice.
Sweet beater/daily watch. But for me that role for me is a cheap Casio MRW-200h, W800H, on Vario leather straps, or when wanting a stainless the Addiesdive Submariner Quartz. Love cheap quartz watches that look pure class. My only automatic a recent Steeldive 1953 has only lost 3-4 seconds in two days, I'm a quartz guy and prefer Miyota, Citizen, ect, but this Seiko NH35 has been extremely impressive. This Boderry is really nice and titanium for that price is amazing, and with sapphire glass, thats awesome. My only complaint is the hour hand is really too short for me. Might look really great in black.
Yuor review helped me to get myself a Wise adamascus bronze and I love it. You got it few mothns back so why the comment about bronze watches in 2018?:) keep up the good work!
Hmm...its okay....id have the invicts pro diver titanium around the same price but comes with a bracelet and looks the business tbh for sn invicta. However, I'd probably leave either and look elsewhere and pic up a duro aswell 😊 great video Jodi, would be nice to look at a few GADA options what with the Erebus 2 incoming 😊
I remember touching the shell of a sea turtle at some conservation event-the algae on them is bioluminescent -this is a very inspired watch
Remember, Jody reviews the watch more than the company selling or mfg it. He really doesn't know how they treat their customers.
It needs longer and less tapered fence post or hypodermic needle hands. These NH movements can be amazingly accurate or very slow or fast. I'm wearing a NH36a right now that is COSC accurate. Amazing!
Good Value for money. my own taste the rubber feels a bit cheap. may be better on a nato strap
Hey Jody, it might be a pain but for watches like this could you please do a segment about siffferent straps/bracelets to see how they look with different ones?
Would love to see it!
5:14 the hexagon is the rough shape of a turtle shell.
Has anyone noticed that absolute barnstormer of a t shirt… worth watching the review for an artistic Leia!! Great review as always
Love my bronze watches. Bought a titanium watch, sold it on as I didn’t like the feel of it.
I bought one a couple of months ago and to be honest it is just okay. I bought it because of the honeycomb lume which is crap. The movement also feels horrible, if you manually wind, it feels like it has gravel in it. I may have just got a bad one, but honestly for the price I still wear it.
I like the hexagon indices a lot (edit: they just look like hexagons, due to reflection from the neighboring hexagons?), but I don't like how small they are. Similar issue with the hands, they appear too short for the dial, especially the minutes hand. If the bezel was wider (and dial diameter smaller), it may have fixed that. Love the seconds hand. Final niggle: "Sea Turtle", the "T" in Turtle should be in caps (especially if not inserting a space), it's two words. Nice price for a Ti case. Great review!
As a Seiko fanboy I think I like this, for the price a good spec watch, might swap out my daily for one of these
How did they squeeze in the NH35 under 12mm thick in a diver?
The submariner inspired case and the hexagons remind me very much of the Hexmariner from Revelot. Still a pretty nice watch at a good price.
Oh and on the topic of bronze watches then I'm wearing one now (from IXDAO) and love it. Definitely in the market for one more in the future. Christopher Ward released one last year which I would have snapped up if I'd have had the cash at the time.
Nice entryway into owning a titanium watch. I thought the lumed hexagons on the dial were a nice touch. Also, many much more expensive watches cant match the overall lume of this watch. This was is not my cuppa, but still a good option.
For the price - that is a very nice watch. Apart from the obvious plus points - sapphire etc. A great idea, having that case back rather than seeing the NH35, which is not that great to look at. Wish Invicta did the same. The only real drawback is the brand name. Its better than Fngeen - i suppose. Great review Jody
I ordered both the Voyager and the Seaturtle in bronze on the last day of the Ali anniversary sale. I think it's just habitual flippers that are worried about buying watches that they don't plan to keep. If you buy a bronze watch, you plan to keep it and enjoy it picking up patina over the years.
yes I would fancy myself a bronze watch with matching bracelete
I bought the bronze version of this watch for around the same price. I guess they had to cut corners further to allow for the bronze case because they put a Miyota 8015 in it. Which wouldn't bother me too much, I've had a couple other watches with an 8215 or an 821A movement, but this one stutters really bad! It keeps time but it's so bad there are times where it looks like it has a quartz movement as the seconds hand will stop and jump a whole second at a time.
Handsome little watch and a great piece but still alot more than the Addiesdive Willard
The company has a cool/informative website and is clearly looking for a niche of the market...fair play to them as well as this delightful review 😊
That Boderry is a nice looking watch...but the crown sticks out so much, just ready to jam into the back of my hand.
My one nh35 is running close to zero. It's drifted to about 1-2secs a day after being left sitting and re-wound every couple weeks when I wear it. My other is running over 30 seconds a day fast (however, that one froze outside). That's vs my sw200 or 2824 (glycine) which is running about 10-12 seconds. I feel like the nh35 is a little miracle of a movement for the money and can compete with the big boys if regulated. I say big boys as in movements even better than the sw or 2824.
I have the same watch. put together from ebay parts. Same case, same bezel, same dial (minus hexagons) and snowflake hands. And it cost me like 75 euros.
What’s the case called? How can I find it ? Thanks
Reminds me of my OG Pelagos case.
Cant lie jody this is the SECOND boderry u specifically sold me on. I got the boderry storm (skeleton RM/cartier homage) and now possibly this one
I have the red dial bronze one. Is great I am still a big bronze fan, but I may just be a green skin hipster
Is this a preview of what to expect for the anniversary sale?
Where can I buy that shirt?
Looks good for a decent price, that the idea with micro brand i think, not like san martin who ask now 400$ for same watch..
At first glance, reminded me of Blue Omega Seamaster w/o HE valve.
I love bronze! I'd buy a bronze watch near every time it makes financial sense to.
