  • Since 1871, London's Royal Albert Hall has been haunted (in a good way) by its history, hosting artists from Rachmaninoff to The Rolling Stones. Now, after having cancelled nearly 500 shows due to the pandemic, the 6,000-seat hall is reopening, filling a hole in Britain's cultural life. Correspondent Roxana Saberi reports.

When we lived in the UK for some years (1997-2005), we took our elderly neighbour to a Christmas concert ... unforgettable experience, magic happened, this film just brought back those wonderful memories. Thank you

I visited this marvelous place back in 1997, while attending a concert where the RAF put on a concert to salute the US Air Force on their 50th Anniversary. My late father, who served in the USAF, was thrilled beyond belief. It was a magical event and I cannot wait to go back again.

Just a "For What It's Worth" . . . at the 01:31 moment in the video there is a mention of"ballet." The images shown were from a Tattoo with the Band of The Royal Marines. I took them out on tour in '85. I recognize the pith helmets.

the performance happened last evening . it was a perfect re-opening/ 150th last night. bond composer david arnold wrote a special ten movement symphony for orchestra and choir with actors reading pieces about the history of the place. both moving and informative. the hall was originally built to promote progressive ideas in science and the arts. not the somewhat 'stuffy' image it now has. a beautiful night.
