A conclusion to the trilogy would have reunited star Ron Perlman and visionary director Guillermo del Toro to complete the arc of Hellboy's mission and destiny. Alas, it was not to be, here's a timeline of the cancelled project.

Del Toro is the perfect and honestly only director who I believe can bring justice to Hellboy and his world.
He walks that line of fairy tale and horror that the comics do perfectly but I feel most directors would lean too much in either direction.

I would actually kind of disagree. The movies are actually pretty bad, in adapting the spirit of the comics. It's just a totally different story. These are more "Del toro movies" than hellboy movies. Hellboy in the movies is your typical charming outcast who saves the day despite his appeareances. Comic Hellboy on the other hand is a tragic hero who is destined to walk the night forever alone, protecting a race he can never be a part of, and looking for his purpose of his existence only to find nothing.
The movies are fine but I would love to see a more darker comic accurate version too.

I remember being in the Theater for Hellboy 2 The Golden Army and the ending left me so excited for the last movie and left me so disappointed when I heard they were rebooting it.
Guierrmo Del Toro's contributions to Hellboy and Blade are severely underrated and Ron Perlman nails the role as the primary character.

They can still make Hellboy 3 now that the reboot flopped hard and fans are still interested. Fans want the sequel and they can still do it. It's only a matter of time until it happens (look at Coming to America and The Incredibles, both films had a sequel come out a long time after the original, so it's not impossible that Hellboy 3 can get green lit again). Netflix, Sony, Amazon, WB, Paramount, or Universal will probably be able to give Del Toro the budget he needs since they do need more content for either their streaming service or for a future movie line up. As for animated movies, they did make two animated films as a tie in to the films and sadly, the third film for that animated series was cancelled, but we got a 6 minute short. If they make the third film animated, it will not only complete the trilogy from the first two films, but it will also complete the animated films as a trilogy as well. Mike Mignola is also dumb for turning down Del Torro's offer for making a comic/graphic novel. That comic would've made a lot for both parties.

I dressed up as Hellboy for Halloween, and my father spent so much money to get me the BPRD buddies toys from this collector because he knew I had to have them. Every now and then I watch the Hellboy movies on dvd to relive the nostalgia, and it always bothers me how it never got a proper ending. Each passing year as Ron Perlman got older, and when Selma Blair got diagnosed with MS, my hope for a sequel faded. Although all we can do now is wish for a sequel that will never come to pass, I am at least thankful for the first two movies giving me such a memorable childhood. Perhaps new doors will open up in the future, but since the Hellboy reboot shot down any hope for it, and since 14 years have elapsed since the second film, my hopes aren’t high.

He's tried to make so many different projects work with all intention, but he doesn't have the support from the top that he needs. Perhaps it's due to him being such an individualistic, auteur director who has a style that can't be as easily reigned in, but it's a shame as his creative genius needs to be more rewarded. It's just that with certain talent Hollywood refuses to take risks and because Del Toro doesn't deliver the billions, he doesn't have that protected status/free reign like so many others who make profitable crap. I would have loved to see his take on a Tolken story with The Hobit but he abandoned that as well, despit having a supportive producer Peter Jackson. Out of all the comic/superhero films, and Im not overly keen on the majority, l do ❤ Hellboy 2004. Both Hellboy I and II. ❤ So easy to watch, enjoyable and entertaining and great soundtrack. The story, the actors, the filmography, the action, makeup, and the fab music are perfect.
    Top notch. ❤❤❤ Superb
I like actor David Harbour and I understand he put a lot of effort into his version (big boots to fill), but he is not Ron.
Ron IS the ultimate undisputed Hellboy, he and Guillermo.
Guillermo and Ron should have been allowed to complete the trilogy. They were a winning combination, both in terms of their relationship, what they achieved, what they delivered to the audience, and to the motion picture industry.

Del Toro is having a great year, I hope he can use this momentum to get H3 or Mountains greenlit. Netflix has infinite budget, if there’s one filmmaker I want to see them continue partnering with, it’s Guillermo!

If any new Hellboy project was green lit I’d want it to be an animated series that stays close to the comics. You could have both Perlman and Harbour be in it. Perlman could be Hellboy’s uncle Astaroth and Harbour could be Hellboy’s father Azzael.

I was just aware of hellboy movie series days before. When i watched the movie as i have already known all these , i just cant help feeling heartbreaking . For first few days It was like some place of my mind went blank and i can feel this hollow in every breathe. My mind plays I Cant Smile without You every time im not focus, kept recalling some touching scenes and it was very painful. I have no clue how to let go since it really screws me up for days ( maybe i shouldnt let go ) .
But the fact is the fact, i can only assume that hellboy completed his destiny and maybe should let him rest at last.I dont think there will be del toro's hellboy 3 either, perlman is so old now and no one invest things that dont profit .So its best to let it be. For now those intense feelings fade a little, which allows me to work as usual ,but it makes hellboy my lifetime character. Just hope someday i can see new hellboy stuffs , if theres nothing i can still do fanart tho.

Don't forget Inside Man 2. The original movie is one of the masterpiece crime action movie ever made.
Spoiler alert: The police officer and the detective had failed to catch the bank robber after all of the investigation & interrogation been made during the aftermath of the bank robbery.
Since how the original movie ended, the 2nd movie was planned to continue the story and planning to keep the actor from the 1st film as well. Technically, the 2nd film then got cancelled due to the lack of fund too just like the case with this cancelled 3rd film of Hellboy

It's a straight up an injustice that we never got Hellboy 3 and got the shitty remake instead.
But what I find so incredible about the whole thing is that Mignola is the one person that made sure the film was dead and that the story would never be concluded even in comic book form and once he regained control of his creation and try to move on from del Toro it amazingly blew up in his face while del Toro gets Oscars and gets hailed as one of the best working directors today.
    Karma does exist.
