The irony of the M 151 pulling the HMMWV out of the snow!
because M151 has chains on wheels
because in WW2 you had to build a good vehicle, in present day you just have to win a government contract
@@hugopepe1722 what? german vehicle during WWII were biggest shit on earth. Truste me. there were no two vehicles that had the same spare parts. Each company was pushing its project, there was no unification, including that is why the Germans lost the war because the damaged equipment could not be repaired, because there were no spare parts for this model. Even caterpillars had more than a dozen designs. That's why Germany so often abandoned its vehicle hehe even the Russians were not willing to use German equipment. More problems than benefits. In addition, these gasoline engines ... too little power, and the mass of the vehicle kept growing. Besides, Hitler too relied on idiots like Ferdinand Porsche, who first built his Tiger, unfortunately terrible shit that was rebuilt on Ferdinand, which was also a terrible shit. How many Ferdinand Germans lost on the first day at Kursk? How much did they lose because they broke? That idiot Porsche did not even foresee that the vehicle had to defend itself against infantry, so it had no defensive weaponry. I can criticize German vehicles endlessly. Germans fell victim to their megalomania, which resulted in sick vehicles. Look at the Russians, they had two tracked chassis, T-34 and KV then IS. They built everything based on these proven two chassis. Similarly, the Americans, they had Sherman, and they built everything on his chassis.
@@hugopepe1722 M151 MUTT is not a WW2 vehicle, it's from the 60s.
@@xot80 You're almost correct in your assumptions regarding German engineering - strange design though accurate, fanatic assembly. But I'd like to remind you, that USSR had more than 2 mass tracked platforms -
0. Vickers - T26. (Honorable mention)
1. Christie - BТ-2\5\7, T-34 - major platform, yes.
2. KV/IS - major influence on certain battlefields
3. Light T40\60\70 - huge influence on early war
4. "126" - T50 - somewhat little influence on war, but helped KV project
5. Also multiple tractor-derived platforms, for half-tracks, artillery carriers, tractors, etc, hard to name them all.
I'm always amazed to see how large the FAMO actually is.
That thing is huge. At first the size is not obvious, because the general shape of it is similar to, say, a Sd.Kfz. 10... but it weighs 18 t! That is the kind of prime mover you use for the heaviest of artillery pieces or tanks.
@@VRichardsn not only artilery. Famo can tow panzer IV easily
@@anthonystark3959 That is why I said "artillery pieces or tanks" :)
I build scale models and this video is absolute gold for the way fresh snow sticks to the equipment!
You guys know how to have fun with a 100 thousand dollar vehicle.
The WW2 era jeep pulling the Humvee out of the snow, then having the Humvee unable to tow the Jeep out is hilarious!
On chains tho
German Engineering 💪still looks good in 2018
I'm especially happy the Czechs are our neighbours! Love you people. And I love your beautiful capital. Fortunately it was spared during the last war. Greets from Germany!
What beautiful machines, when you guys are driving these around you should take a moment to appreciate how fortunate your are to be doing so.
Thanks for a awesome video!
What a day out!! Very nice footage, those half tracks are huge!
To je nádhera vidět takový stroje na sněhu , za mě nejlepší video co jsem viděl s veterány .🙂👍
Ahh, so that's why the SdKfz 251 had that sloping front - not armour, it was a snow-plough!
sdkfz 9 ,a real beast!! awesome machine!
I'm jealous...I wanna ride in the armoured vehicles!!
One of the best video about the Famo than I have ever seen!!! It is great to see this Famo and this 251 run in the snow. I am going to Overloon for militracks in may, from France, and I really hope this vehicle will be here!!!!! This is largely the reason why I want go to Militracks ...
The half tracks are awesome!
i dont have enuf thumbs for how freakin awesome this video is
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, and greets from the Netherlands!
MUTT towing Humvee, and SdKfz 9 towing MUTT - so great!
Great vid with awesome halftracks. You guys must have had a lot of fun!!
Love the Half-Tracks .
Love the machines, however, I found it funny that the horses were trotting through like: "Hey, we haven't been stuck!!" :P And the Jeep pulling the Humvee was awesome too lol, wow, nicely done!
Порадовало видео меня, спасибо и за музыку
Excellent !
Looks like a helluva lot of FUN!!!
German halftrack looks a hell of a lot better than the American one
Alfred Enisz they were superior in all areas except the negative or es...lol
@@johnmartin4639 It is possible, but one part of the caterpillar consists of 100 elements in sdkfz. no part from sdkfz 251 matches sdkfz 9. this is the hell of a mechanic
Both half tracks are German.
@@john-peterhundt5662 yep both are boxhead
The M3 and M5 were superior designs though since they were just as capable, but were WAY easier to produce since they were made out of easily replaceable panels bolted to a universal chassis design that shared a ton of parts, to the point that the front half is pretty much identical to the M3 scout car too! In my opinon they also look way cooler, with those adjustable louvres on the front and the option to have actual visibility out the front with the windscreen, and then the crazy variants like the M15 and M16.
There's a reason Israel used them until the late 1980's and loved them, but the 251 in Czech postwar service was known as "Hitler's revenge" as it was that bad, and they had to sidestep the Soviet monopoly on wheeled armoured vehicles to produce the SKOT to get rid of them!
Super video! Love the music. Thanks!
Dont take your humvee anywhere without your Willie's jeep, and dont bring your Willie's jeep anywhere without your half track
In other words, Germany makes better vehicles than America.
In the german Bundeswehr the saying was "If you get the 2to stuck - call in the Berge-Leo". The Unimog 1300 could go places.
@@JSharap I said half track, not specifically a German one, just half tracks, I really like half tracks in general
bellissimo video, grandi mezzi, gente simpatica
That looks like a whole lot of fun out in the snow :-)
Looks like a very fun day!
I believe the FAMO is in the heavy carrier carrier. Moving the 88 PAK field guns/AA required more heft, and this provided it.
Cool video, cheers lads. Great Irving with some fantastic vehicles .
That lil M151 Looks fun to drive around in
i like how the most modern vehicle seems to get stuck the most
We saw this more than once in germany during REFORGER. It looked good but the Wolf (Mercedes G) outperformed it always and the VW Iltis often. As for the U1300 "2to" Unimog - that thing outperformed everything including some tracked vehicles
The horses seemed to doing fine.
Great video! Great to see some real life conditions they were near enough always in and no collector today who has a toy from the war would dare take it out in the snow of being to scared incase it broke haha! I don't think People realise these vehicles are can handle just about any conditions I just love this and packing the snow in rhe radiator n keeping the engine hatches open to cool the engine down it's so real if you know what I mean; it gives that sence of how hard it must have been! Love to see more! And for the jeep towing the Humvee out the shit lol 😆
sdkfz 251 is so great...
Humbling to know at least one made it past the war in working order!
I'm pretty sure there's more than one original still working.
Because of it's reliability and genius deisgn, 251 was used by many countries post war in their military. Czechoslovakia not only used 251 but also produced it in pretty large numbers.
@@narodwpsanialy1940 If you have a need and the production line set up - why not keep it running while your engineers work on the next generation and/or improvments. The east europeans did the same with the BR52 steam engine.
Gota Love the Willy . Great music!
No Willy's in this video.
Fenomenal!
This video is beautiful.
Deutsche Qualität
In der tat
Молодцы, братья-славяне. Снимаю шляпу😊
i got too get one of those halftracks for the long cold snowy Winters up here in MAINE there awesome thanks .
LOOOOL, awesome video! :D Famo is VERY impressive!
Moc pěkné video, lidi. Musela to být zábava.
Byla,byla
SdKfz is such a good design. Still looks awesome.
Except those overlapping wheels would freeze up with mud and snow, and repair and maintenance on them required removing fives wheels to work on one. On the positive side they gave smooth travel over rough ground. Same issue for the Tiger and Panther tanks.
Awesome video!
Fantastic!
U got to love Sdkfz 251 and Krauss-Maffei KM :)
Joli !
Now this seems like a fun way to spend a snow day.
Snow days wouldn’t exist if school buses had this off-road capability.
LOL, just grand!
Watching that little quarter ion hauling the Humvee was funny!
I did wonder how well the half tracks would work in the snow, surprised it does so poorly
that's cause the tracks were packed with soft snow.....
Hoši, to je paráda!!! :))))
Interesting music, great video.
👌 👌 👌 excelente video . 👍 👋 saludosss
Hammer geil 👍👍👍
Okay, that looks like serious fun. Wish I was there.
Good look at some classic German equipment. Thanks.
Love that snow
Love the music!
vzpomínám na OT 810 a Doupov. Velmi dobré video.
These people look fun, need to book a flight lol
Awesome.. I saw a Hanomag here in NZ once on display🇳🇿
Super!
It awesome you are using them and they aren’t collecting dust
Fun stuff in the snow. I'd rather see them joy ridding than used in war. 😁
Chci opět přijet do Česka! Stroje - super!
Ah, memories of training in winter in Germany.
Клёвые по катушки!!!!
awesome
SdKfz 9 впечатляет даже сегодня.
Gonna love this "Hey, let's go snow drift on ww2 military vehicles" 🤣
Awesome toys!
would have been fun to have included a WWII GI half track in the fun.
I love sd.kfz.7,8,9 the most 💚💚💚
I know this music. The song is called "Maybe Tomorrow" and was the theme song of a Canadian TV show called "The Littlest Hobo." The star of the show was a German shepherd. Unlike this video whose star is a German half-track.
Cooles hobby..😊
Very cool...
Love the Hanomag!!
This is unbelievable!!😂
Looks like fun
A Czech version of “Orange Blossom Special.”
And remember that you need at least 2 Sdkfz 9 to pull a tiger tank.
I clicked on this expecting old films…
I am in AWE.
Nice video
That looks like an unholy amount of fun.
Yeah, its big Fun
Oh yeah! WWII offroad fun!
Отличная техника, и такой пробег
That sdkfz 9 is HUUUGE
thank`s
They should make the canvas for that Famo(Sd.kfz9), in winter without the canvas is chilling!
Piękne
Fajne video. Pozdrawiam Czechów! Muzyka country, czeski western :))
The HHMWV is faster than the half-tracks, but much less controllable.
I suppose that what you are after makes a big difference.
That #4 half track is a behemoth !
Tnb Spotter it's an 18 ton FAMO...they were the primary heavy "wrecker" of the good guys in www
Класс!
Looks like the smaller halftrack was having overheating issues.....since its radiator is coverd up with armor.....unlike the bigger one that is exposed.....another drawback of these halftracks are that the front axles dont have traction.....an advantage that the American version had.....they also had flap armor in front of the radiator that allowed them not to overheat.
Молодцы! хорошее видео!
Great comparison of the capability of tracks vs tires in off road conditions. Off road, tracks rule. On road...not so much.
Hey add about 2 feet of mud to make REALLY realistic.
