I appreciate this. I thought I had this setting on but then today at the range my kestrel wasn't changing like it should. Well now I've got that fixed thanks to you!
You are right! I was. Now I'm looking forward to my next chuck hunt to try this out. Have had a Kestrel for 4 years and still learning about it's capabilities. Thanks
Thanks a bunch Greg, good info here as I have a 5700 and didn't know this. I am loving both of your priming tools I own, now I just gotta get one of your new digital primer depth guages.. Keep up the good work and good shooting to ya brother..
Awesome! Thanks! I picked up the Hornady version but haven't really spent much time playing with it. My shots this year while hunting were close enough I didn't use it and I sadly didn't get much time this summer with it. It's super handy but there's a lot to it!
Interesting! Keep thinking I can get by fine without one, but seems like if I wanna be serious about getting better, I should get this in my hands. Thanks for this! Wind is my main concern here in southwest Oklahoma. Got my little review of your CPS up last week. Sure I missed some things, but wanted to show it off!!
@primalrights Thank you for making a beautiful tool! I'm new and approaching this by getting the beat tools I can find/afford. Seemed your primer was the best available!! Appreciate the tip on the rice also!! That video has over 6,000 views. Gotta make a follow up soon to answer some of the questions. I'm very happy with the shine I get!! Enjoy your Sunday, almost to my range now for a session!!
Hi I wonder if you could help me please I just got a new kestrel 5700 I'm pressing the red capture button but nothing happens only if I press the center button I'm I doing something wrong thanks rich
Great tip. Would this setting change anything when using the wind vane in live time ? Obviously direction to target is less important then a switching wind . Many thanks
Is using the degree setting for wind direction more accurate than the clock setting? Meaning, does it allow the kestrel to resolve a finer measurement?
Great question. One that I knew, but I called Nielsen-Kellerman anyway today on your behalf in order to verify I'd be giving you a correct response. The software is going to use the most finite resolution from the compass it can get when you capture. So, even if you set it to clock values, the software will be capturing and computing using degrees. The conversion is done for the users benefit, if they are more comfortable with the clock values. This is only true when you use the capture button. If you set it to clock values and are entering it manually, then it will be more coarse than if you were using degrees.

Guess I’ll be updating mine! Can’t wait to try that out. Thanks for your dedication!

Happy to help!
Dope!
Great tip.

When using the wind capture live in the vane, you will have it working just as usual with real time wind.
