- Hello! GullYY here, welcome back to another Polytopia 1v1 gameplay video! This video, we run a game with the Hoodrick tribe on Lakes. I wanted to get a better idea of how bad the tribe was since the naval update made lumber huts 3 stars. Unfortunately, our opponent picked the Elyrion tribe, furthermore, they got a very nice spawn. How are we going to stand against these impossible odds? Stick around to the end of the video where we break down the replay and learn a lot of lessons from it. I hope you enjoy!

I have a video idea "everytime i kill an enemy unit i spawn a bunny", i just kinda want a video using the bunnies since i have never seen them in gameplay vids haha
Bunnies can only be on single player mode and even then they're often bad since you can only spawn them in your borders and they'll therefore most likely attack you

wow, what an amazing comeback! I really like when you explain your moves and make assumptions on their moves! as someone who's new to multiplayer polytopia, it makes it easy to follow and learn :)
Might be one of the most interesting games I've seen, really shows you how balancing the economy, offense and precautionary defense(the city wall) pays off, even when using a tribe not on the meta
Yikes, that was a horrendous Hoodrick spawn... resource density totally missed.

Good analysis! Resonates with me a lot as well. I think these are the lessons you learn when you play a lot of FFA's (both perfection and domination): Bade your time, be patient. It can be tempting to go and attack other tribes when you see them kinda making progress and stuff, but when you fall for it the game kinda stalls afterwards: you've lost all your stars on attack, that you could 've spent on something more valuable, like building you economy and explore. Knowing your limits and what you can afford is crucial.

Not entirely sure what actual chinese words they used. If it’s 欣喜 then it would mean “joy”, Xi might also be 西 (west) and quite a common name for chinese cities.

I was testing about getting 3 stars and 100% video and the method that I find more fun is just playing very safe against 4 crazy bots, you can even lose 3-4 units even 5 (depending on how many you kill) this makes you play the late game, and crazy bots suck at the late game, its too complex for them😂

Hey gullyy could you make a video on how to fight stronger tribes with weaker tribes. I have been playing the game a lot and want to learn how to play some of the weaker tribes when there are so many meta players.
Ofc, there isn’t one solid route to take when it comes to fighting the OP tribes, I never played on multiplayer, non the less have any of the paid tribes, but if I had to say for myself, Polytopia is more luck based, meaning that you need to be careful and you need a full proof strategy to defeat the enemy. Even if you’re a strong tribe like Elyrion, as shown in this video,if you rush an objective until you use up all your stars or you attack a stronger unit while highly outnumbered, your not going anywhere. You need to plan attacks, plan back ups in case something goes wrong. Make sure economy is centralized compared to military in the first few turns. To beat the good tribes as a weak tribe, you need the best the weakest tribes, is to say Bardur and Imperius aren’t necessarily bad but compared to other tribes they’re still better. You either need to go defensive or economic to beat them is basically what I’m saying cuz gradually, unless they have thousands of stars, the enemy would be worn out, to which you can summon up your forces for the attack.

What does city wall do?
I gives a 1.5x defense buff when a unit is on a city with the _wall_

I feel like the opponent pushed their units way too much instead of going for some economy first and then overwhelming you with polytaurs and maybe even dragons.
Okay I commented before watching the analysis where you said just that lol, but still
Elyrion need a nerf of they are an aggressive tribe like vengir... But better. Lots of early game swordsman and expansion aka polytaurs + insane economy.

Luck certainly is an important aspect in the game but it doesn't necessarily define who wins and who loses. The lucky player also needs to understand what needs to be done in order to win; their luck should streamline that process.
This game is actually a great example. Our opponent got a strictly more lucky spawn than I did but couldn't convert that advantage to a win. Meanwhile, I got two very lucky ruin rewards: a population ruin which allowed me to get a city wall where I needed it, and a star ruin which I used to afford tech that I needed to win the game.
Could I have won the game without those ruins? Yes, but it would have been more difficult. Could my opponent have still won this game with a worse spawn? If they played differently, then yes, absolutely.
