    As an Aussie, I definitely second your caveat on stainless steel for Hunter Valley Semillion .
    Do not buy oak aged examples if you want to age them.
    The other wine I always buy each year is Crawford River Riesling from Victoria. Gorgeous wine. If you see one Agnes, drink it forthwith:).

    About Vouvray: I had a batch of sweet Vouvray aged of more than 4O years, and they were just perfect. Sadly, all the bottles are now empty...

      I don’t think I have tasted 40 years old Vouvray.. but thank You for sharing this experience. It shows how beautiful this wine can age AND how long.. cheers! 🥂🍾✨

    An interesting and informative video about white wines to age in your cellar/wine rack or fridge. As a possible part 2 you could include: Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, dry Furmint from Tokaj, and GG Rieslings from the Rheingau & Pfalz.

      Thank You for Your comment! Great wines You have suggested, all with wonderful ageing potential, especially dry Furmint. I will definitely need to make Part 2. Cheers! 🍾🥂✨

      Great list, mind if I add the mother of all age worthy "whites" vin jaune from Jura, actually all whites from that region is age worthy chardonnay, savagnin.

    Had several Smaragd rated Austrian whites from 2005-2017, all Pichler's. They were dark opaque green bottles, kept for years in a wine fridge. Not familiar with Austrian wines, we weren’t sure how they would taste. They were all wonderful, golden, floral and fruity. I went to find more online and found few choices online for Austrian Rated Smaragds by any producer. Got 2 '19 Pichler's 97 point Loibenbergs. Get them if you can find any in the USA! $$

      Well, I like Pichler. There are two actually: Rudi Pichler and F.X. Pichler and both are great! I am so, so happy that You loved these wines! 💥☀️🥂✨🍾

      @@NoSediment To make it even more complicated. There is even a third Pichler in Wachau called, Pichler-Krutzler. 😆
      I absolutely adore Rudi Pichler's Grüner Veltliner Ried Kollmütz Smaragd. 😍

    I'd love to hear your thoughts on age-worthy whites from Bordeaux. Normally I'd wait for the video, but I leave for Bordeaux on Sunday :D

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  Před 2 lety

      It is actually very interesting, because in general Sauvignon Blanc is not considered as one the white grapes associated with long ageing. Yet, some whites from top Bordeaux producers will have great ageing potential, be more expensive and harder to get than their red wines. In all honesty, they are usually a blend (Sauvignon Blanc + Semilon), Muscadelle is increasingly rare. And most wines will be aged in oak. However, Bordeaux is a LARGE region, and not all white wines will be made in a style meant for cellar. One of my favourites is Malartic-Lagraviere. ☺️

    Great video, Agnes. I have tried Vouvray from Trader Joe's and Total Wine (Red and White) and they are not bad. I would say they are on the cheap side compared what you showed here. Also Rieslings (manly from Kendal Jackson in California) was the second style of wine i tried in my growth as a wine drinker. I will say some of the German Rieslings were to much for me; I recall them being to sweat and to bubbly. Almost like Champaign but it was not fizzy.

      Thank You, We don’t have Trader Joe’s in my country, so I have never tasted their labels. It would be interesting to know, who is making their labels though! 🤷‍♀️

    Hummm ….not sure about these generalizations, whites are low in tannins, not as protected against oxygen as reds. Only few whites you count with the fingers of your hand improve with aging. So I sooooo totally pass cellaring whites, except Sauternes. My opinion. Great content anyways! Cheers.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  Před rokem +1

      I don’t generalise here, I talk very specifically. And the fact that white wines don’t have tannins doesn’t mean they cannot age as much or even longer. Acidity is another element that works as preservative, and white wines generally have higher acidity and higher pH levels. pH levels helps in effectiveness of SO2, therefore generalise that white wines age less than red wines is not really correct. And I specifically talk about white wines, not sweet and luscious wines. 🙌
