  • This is how I made my custom wood guitar pedalboard.
    All cables and power supplies are hidden inside and you need only one plug to switch everything on. Pedals are fixed by very strong velcro.
    All measures are in the 3D project part of the video.

    I have made a few boards like this over the years, and man do they weigh a ton. Fortunately nowadays you can get a pedal board made out of aluminum that is way lighter and comes with a soft carrying all for a lower price than you would pay for the lumber alone.
    I must say you did a very nice job on this and I appreciate your attention to detail.
    I just hope you don't have to lug it around everywhere LOL 🍻

      This Is not super heavy but of course Is designed to stay in the studio 😉

      @@mrcustomx that's good. I'm in the process of making another board lighter than my current one. I got the heavy duty Gator board with the flight case. That thing alone without the pedals weighs 25 lb. Yeah it's got wheels but most of the time you can't use them. So I've decided to go super lightweight something with a nice padded shoulder bag. Again you did a real nice job on yours thanks for sharing cheers.

    How do you stick the bottom piece on? Just wood glue or screws? Also how do you get the bottom 4cm piece to slant and match the two sides at 3.5cm height?

    • @mrcustomx
      @mrcustomx  Před 4 měsíci

      I used wood glue only for Better aesthetic result. That piece Is routed at 3.40 : using slanted sides as a guide the router Will give you the same angle on the bottom piece. You have to se the router bit height to match 3.5 cm

    Excellent job and looks great! Can I ask what hinges you used and where you got them from? I found some cabinet hinges at Lowe’s that look almost identical but I think they only allow for a 90 degree angle, so I’m just wondering how you compensated for the 90+ degree to allow the lid to close properly in accordance with the angle of the board?

    • @mrcustomx
      @mrcustomx  Před 3 lety

      Sorry for my late. Yes I have the same question before I built it. I bought regular 90° hinges, found on Amazon. Then I discovered you can go over 90° because they're not that precise. I only bended a little bit the final edge to better match my angle. Buy those hinges and try on a test wood. They cost something like 10€.. If you liked my video please subscribe! Thanks

    Nice work! It's a little unclear how you're using the router table to get a nice angle across the top and front of the board so that it matches with the sides. I want to do something similar, do you have an suggestions? ✌

    • @mrcustomx
      @mrcustomx  Před rokem +1

      Thank you Brian, it's quite easy: the upper face of the pedalboard is an inclined plane so if you put it upside down (as you see in the video) you can route it as a flat surface. When you will turn it again you'll have this perfect result. I only routed the lower side, if you want both sides diagonally routed you need to leave it also longer and than route everything with the upside down technique. Basically with this method the right and left sides of the pedalboard are the template/guide, just make sure to properly set the height of the router bit. Hope this helps, for any questions i am here!

      @@daveg4236 no you’re right mate. My own useless diy skills frustrate me that’s all. I have managed to build one with built in power supply. Plenty of black paint hides my poor workmanship. But it’s solid and functional. Used all scrap wood and old screws too.
