What's the point in the Caterham Project V?

I went down to Caterham Silverstone to check out the new EV called Project V.
At first I really didn't get it, it made no sense why this car should even exist, but then it clicked...

what is the nonsense with the 3 seat and crumple zones. aren't there supposed to be both 3 and 4 seat versions, and the 3 seat version is the only one that is under 1200 kilos? also, are you sure that there is no storage at all? it was clearly said that there will be no frunk to allow for the better supension, but what about the rear? the panels sure seem to suggest that there will be some.

Please tell me the panel gaps will be filled with trim or something...? It's a scar on a supermodel's face as it stands. I love everything about it except that.
