The protest in the Universities in the USA were/are about stopping the genocide and many many many young Jewish students stood in support for peace and stopping the genocide. Washington turned those to being anti Jewish and antisemitic protest and broke them up with much violence that can only be called barbaric and not democratic.
Before you say students should study let me remind you that the American civil rights got a boost thankfully to USA University student amongst whom was senator Sanders. The anti Vietnam War protest by University students led to an eventual halt of a 20 year massacre , the anti war protest against Iraq brought US troops home ( no WMD were ever found and no western country has ever been held accountable even today for more than a million Iraqis being killed) , the South African apartheid was brought to the front line thanks to the students.
As you can can see the only was is peace and understanding and that start with the two sides having and equal palying field.
Hence the UN vote is a step forward but there is a long way to go.
