Great podcast! As a Mother myself I want to encourage Kimi! My son was a complete surprise- the best surprise of my life-but at the time I was heading to New Zealand to river guide & train for my rotar career + be a professional whitewater paddler. My life was flipped upside down & there was divine intervention from the beginning. 24 years later, this beautiful son of mine who was/is very high energy, fierce & a born Warrior is now becoming a Navy SEAL. I channeled his energy into sports & the outdoors. I married his earth father in Nepal while running rivers there when he was 2 years old & we have a daughter who is his little sister. He told us about his little sister years before she was born- he would draw (accurate!!) pictures of her in kindergarten! Kids are truly born who they are!!! And I will confirm with you today, that you are the PERFECT Mother for your son!!! You have everything already inside of you to raise him right!! Just tap in to your son! He will teach you!!! Mahalo for all the inspiration Kimi and Sam. As a relatively new diver (4-5 years) I am still searching for clarity on the core values I want to pass on to my keiki and also finding a true connection to my food and community. Hope to meet more folks like you all here on Oahu. Hawaii is so special to me and I want to find every way possible to honor this place as I never plan to leave. Time out is an old school technique that doesn't really work. It's basically the parents saying they need a break from the craziness but does nothing to teach the kid about having a better relationship at home, if anything it creates a yearning for them to have relationships outside of the home. Good communication is the best but is a skill that isn't really taught but more internally found.
