Rocks was either the captain or the name of the crew Big Mom and Kaido were part of. That's why it says "even without their captain they've become even stronger"
I would like for it to be kind of a new "position" .. like we get marines, pirates, Shichibukais and revolutionaries. it would be cool if before the pirate era, it was the "Locks" era ( not pirates, but something similar)
Andre Moya sounds interesting too. If Rocks is an acronym being C for Charlotte and K for Kaido, S could be for Shakky since she mentioned being chased by Garp 40 years ago. Either she might be the Rocks as mentioned by Rogersbase or she could be a letter from R. O. C. K. S.
Yeah could be. Shakky is one mysterious character, would be awesome if she is like Rayleigh but from the Rocks era. Like Roger died, so Rayleigh went to sabaody to live the rest of his life. So Shakky´s crew got separated so she went to sabaody to live the rest of her life.
that or Garp is in charge of some sort of witness protection unit lol It's still weird to me that Rayleigh has been and continues to be coating boats right next to a major Marine's base and no one seems to care much about it...
Well it is better to hide at plain sight. And Garp is kind of protecting Rayleigh. They did try to capture Rayleigh two years ago, but Luffy punched a tenrryubito.

Brooks original crew met with a “powerful adversary” that wiped out their entire crew almost instantly - the timing is about right to run into “rocks” ... it sure would be interesting if Brook had a run in with “rocks” that cost him his life
Drato 17 If I look at it, the damage done to the Rumbar pirates and their ships is not enough to be of such a feared crew. The reason they died was poisoned arrows, not something Oda would give to a Yonko level crew.

Where are all those people saying that Reverie would suck? Where are those people who were so impatient for Wano that they didn't want to bother with this arc? Never underestimate Oda. Reverie is proving to be one of the best arcs of the series, period. 20+ chapters of Reverie or bust!

I agree with you both. True fans appreciate not just the awesome fights, but the methodical world building and intricate story telling. I'm sure Wano will be amazing. But I'm more than willing to wait and enjoy all that this arc has to offer because I believe in Oda.
world building is my favorite thing about OP cause it sometimes has a habit of lacking in the action department.

The impression I got is that Kaido and Big mom used to be in the same crew that was either named (L)Rocks or was captained by someone named that. That way they are all talking about the same thing and the conversation is less confusing than your interpretation here.
Even though they lost their captain they are still growing --> Kaido and big mom lost their captain but now they are Yonko

big mom and kaido did not rule before roger, they where subordinates of another pirate, remember, "they lost their captain" implies that there was one single captain wich is no longer arround, "they" refers to kaido and big mom, locks was their captain! he was their captain! with that, instead of big mom and kaido ruling after locks, it was locks and then roger! in the ace spinoff it was stated that there was an era of roger, shiki and whitebeard, and only after that did big mom and kaido rise to power! so big mom and kaido where locks subordinates, locks got taken down and they no longer ruled the seas, and then after rogers and shikis capture she and kaido rose to power big time along with shanks! big mom had been a big deal for a long time before that, but she only became one of the rulers during the yonko era.

Saleem Ali - The flashback with Big Mom that you're refering shows her as a 10 yo, right? Which would make it 58 years before the current story. Roger died like 24 years in the past. There are over 30 years for Big Mom to have joined the current strongest pirate, for that Pirate to be defeated by Garp, for Roger to raise to the position of the King and for Big Mom to start her own crew.

I love the theory going around that Shakky, from Sabaody, and Reyleigh's friend / potential lover, was a member of the Rocks Pirates or w/e. After all she was a pirate 40 years ago, and was hunted by Garp, and Rocks were hunted by Garp 40 years ago, so it's definitely possible!
Also I'm really hyped that Kaku is back. That means potentially a Kaku vs Zoro rematch... which means Zoro will use Asura again, probably with new powers, and perhaps that will be the moment where theories that he can open his eye and it has special properties or w/e will come true? As a Zoro fan, even the slim possibility of anything happening between Kaku and Zoro excites me.

So does that mean shanks is a peacekeeper for the government, since he stopped kaido before he got to marineford and stopped the war.
Fire Fist Sabo a peacekeeper generally. As far as I can tell his main interests are in protecting people from the big threats. All he seems to do is keep his territory safe and intervene when Yonko misbehave.
I can imagine Shanks is a bit of a peacekeeper in general. That any time one of the yonko get too powerful he allies with their rival to bring them back in line.

i think your over complicating things by thinking rocks and the bigmom/kaido conection are separate tings, im pretty sure what its implying is that big mom and kaido were part of the same crew and their talking about its captian, and either the captian was rocks or the crew was called rocks

Well my guess is that Tekking is wrong and that he is not just a good Diplomat. I mean and thats just my opinion Oda would have teased thats Shanks called somebody about a meeting but ok maybe its true but this could in many Directions. For example him being a Tenryuubito i mean for example we dont know nearly anything about Shanks not even his full Name im mean Red Haired is probaly not his Name. And if you look how relexead the Gorosai apeared it seems like this is not the first time he showed up. I mean they actualy act pretty normal i mean if this was realy a meeting maybe even their first the should be a little nervous or they are this strong that they dont even care.
Another posibility is that he actualy works for them and feeding them informations they need. Maybe he is even actualy a Member or the actual Leader of CP Aegis 0.
susaku zero when we find out who really is Shanks, it's going to be gold. You are right that the goisei are too relaxed around Shanks. I wouldn't be surprised if he is rouge CP0 agent since you mentioned it. Getting influenced by Roger during the rookie days. I hope someone makes a video on that. Him being a celestial dragon would be a meh to me because that belongs to Doffy. Shanks being one would be a waste because he's a pirate, not a revolutionary.

Mjsogard is instantly a better character than Doflamingo from this chapter alone. Even without a devil fruit I more respect for him than that scummy pink bird.

Dont Misunderstand doflamingo is a great character, his actions are horrible but he isn't one dementional, there is a reason to why he is like he is. He was evil from the start but never completely evil, his environment and the people who did him wrong are the ones that made him the man who he is. To the point where he kills his own brother for deceiving him. Why does he do what he does? He knows what happens when you lower yourself and try to befriend your enemies and keeping a big status and having a loyal 'family' is what he wants.
You mean a more moral individual, not a better character. Doffy was a pretty well fleshed out character

They actually were in a pirate crew together, Hina was talking about Big Mom and Kaido's captain. That's why she said "Even though they lost their captain, their power still grows". The most powerful Pirate crew, they lost their captain and now they are nowhere to be found, meaning they're not continuing WhiteBeards work so they're not growing stronger. Big Mom and Kaido on the other hand, they lost their captain, but still grow to be stronger. Now you get it?

usopp has shanks godly observation haki and doesn't realise he can predict the future accurately as shanks predicted the war and everything leading up to it. this is also seen with katakuri as he has the pre evolved form of this reply if u agree

before the yonko it was the era of Shiki, White beard and Roger. White beard and Big mom where the first 2 Yonko.. and the yonko exist to keep someone from becoming Pirate king. this was stated by Oda
The “Rocks” thing really seems like a movie tie in like how Shiki’s name was dropped in Impel Down.

It could be Big Mom and Kaido were either in Rocks crew or associates like the Straw hat fleet. And since the rocks captain was lost they crew broke up and that might have given birth to many powerful pirate crews. Just a thought.

teslagod2003 well kaido is more of a chinese theme, whereas the samurai are japenese themed.
So if we go along those lines of what you're saying, perhaps there's a chinese childhood story or something that we can match to kaido have to pay a debt
teslagod2003 i think most people are on board with kaido being a live thing/creature. Like "Randolph" from whole cake island. Therefore, from this reason I think it's safe to deduce that BM can use her power on Kaido.
The reason i brang up themes, was because BM crew was inspired by children bed time stories and disney musicals.
Therefore Kaido will have something like that but obviously different.

I personally believe Kaido was and is a living creature rather than an object. I also believe he was given more years to live by BM. However it seems certain that Kaido is no longer receiving "life" from BM...meaning that he has X number of years till he dies from old age.
Kaido isn't afraid of death, so Big Mom can't just use her power to suck on him and ejaculate his clumpy white essences from his body. This may be important.

Also if he has scars, it means he's been stabbed (or other). Prior his his current indestructable body that now won't even let a spear through his body. Sounds like some kind of conditioning technique that he's used on his body, or just by growing to his immense size.

btw from the ace novel part 2 (or part of the translated version) roger's era was called the era of roger, shiki and whitebeard. after roger turn himself in and shiki got captured in impeldown, whitebeard was the one who rule the sea afterwhich bigmom came to power and later kaidou and shanks, which in turn become the yonkou
